PHILADELPHIA CHILDREN’S TOY DRIVE DVLF & CHOP 12/5/08

I am one of the volunteer producers of a Public Service Announcement for the TOY EVENT….
It’s a 1 minute PSA for the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund & Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s TOY event. FYI : TOY is a fundraising event that collects toys for the children in CHOP’s HIV/AIDS unit and raises money for the DVLF – two great causes! Before last year – these brave children in the HIV/AIDS unit were overlooked COMPLETELY by other toy drives. They didn’t even get coal. DVLF and CHOP teamed up to create an event to ensure that those kids DO have a good holiday. This year, we are all determined to make them have a bettter one.
We made this PSA with a voluteer crew of actors, directors, camera people, and production people – straight, gay, bi, black, white, Hispanic, you name it…. Kelly Burkhardt, of TLA and PIGLFF, assembled an incredible team who did all of it for nothing. They were wonderful….We even had KIDS who signed up after seeing how their siblings were affected by last year’s efforts. The one young girl (Dari – the oldest in the final scenes) remembers how much it changes a very terrible week when volunteers brought gifts to her ill brother – AND HER AND HER SISTER. She and her mother took time out of their day to drive an hour and a half from DE to be part of the shoot. For no money…and to suffer throw me running around screaming “QUITE ON THE SET!” (well, not really – i was the producer not the director)
