Martin Luther King, had a dream and one of them comes true tomorrow as Obama takes office.

“Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. And let us move on in these powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better nation. And I want to thank God once more for allowing me to be here with you.”
Recently my friend Margaret posted this shot of her family on her facebook page and was nice enough to allow me to share it with you, the world.
The Bailey Sisters with Martin Luther King at Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa
To the extreme left is Charles Bowser, active in the rights struggle in Philly, and then L-R Susan, (my friend) Gwen, MLK, Marolyn and Kathleen. (Missing my friend Margaret Bailey she was 4)
Margaret says “it was 1963. The event was the first service in our new church building.”
I\’m honored that used my family\’s picture to celebrate MLK day.
Very nice write up. It\’s just an amazing time we live in, so excited for tomorrow.
Hugh,
Thanks for sharing this photo. My grandmother kept it in our living room for years and I never quite acknowledged the power or significance. I do now. I had on my Easter clothes – check out the gloves and purse!!! I was 15 or so at the time. Keep in touch.
Love ya!
Gwen
