CHIT CHAT PHILLY – A New Weekly Gossip Info Column
It’s St. Patrick’s Day this week and you know what that means, another excuse to get blotto, rowdy and risk getting arrested for public urination. One of my favorite places to visit on St. Patrick’s Day is McGillin’s on Drury Lane. Always a fun time. I probably eat lunch there 2 -3 xs a month. I love their burgers and free soup from 12 – 2PM“Kiss Me, I’m Irish and Gay III” will arrive in the city’s Gayborhood at Voyeur Nightclub, 1221 St. James St., 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, with $10 per person door admission, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Philadelphia FIGHT. For more information for Kiss Me, I’m Irish and Gay III, visit www.queertimes.net/Kiss_Me, or the event facebook page at
Finally at the end of the week will Muldoon hold his last saloon for St. Patrick’s Day as he is retiring from the PVCB. For the 29th year, Tom Muldoon, president, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB) and David Marshall, chairman, Amerimar Realty Company, will host Muldoon’s Saloon to benefit Project H.O.M.E. The event, which is open to the public, will draw local celebrities and hundreds of members of the hospitality community together to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, feature Irish dancers and Irish food, and raise money for a great cause. A few weeks back Vitamin10 sent me a case of their water to try out since I am trying to kick my diet soda habit. I love it, especially the mixed berry drink, but it isn’t exactly diet as the 20oz has 25 calories which is nothing to sneeze at. Then they sent me 6 bottles of their new drink Vitamin Zero, with Stevia. Surprisingly it’s a little sweeter, I especially like the Lemonade, AND it has Zero calories. It’s not on the shelves yet, but should be by April. And if you’re like me and want to find an alternative to soda (especially with the soda tax in place by then.) then you might want to try VitaminWater Zero. They’ll be phasing out VitaminWater10, which is sad to me cause I really like them too.
Charity Event Pick of the Week: Shut Up & Dance. Last year I photographed the after party, but this year my schedule allows me to check out the show too.
Last Friday, my friend Karen and I enjoyed a free lunch at Sampan to kick off their new lunch menu.
I had the delicious pork sandwich, only 9 and comes with chips.
A couple weeks ago I had a photo of Jordin Sparks in Us Magazine. Unfortunately it was in the Fashion Police section. They didn’t understand that she was wearing a lot of yellow as she was attending Alex’s Lemonade Charity Event. I would have written a letter but I didn’t know it appeared until a few weeks later:)
People always want to know how much I get for these photos. You would be surprised to know that a photo like this in a magazine is only worth $100. But the publicity it generates is worth much more, especially if the photo is taken with a step and repeat in the background.
Bad news for Buttercream cupcakes
PhillyCupCake tells me they are getting a truck like yours. (below are their new doggie cupcakes)
Here are their new nutter butter cookies. The good news is they are still over priced, so that can’t hurt you in too many markets. To tell you the truth I can’t really afford to go there anymore. Last week I spent $40 just bringing treats back for my co-workers and we still had to split the cupcakes so everyone of the 15 people could have a taste, and well that’s just ridiculous. (no I don’t get a discount for writing about them.)
Career Wardrobe is getting into the St. Patrick’s spirit.
zahra saeed is no longer located across from Rittenhouse Square. The sign says she has moved, but no details where. The website is still active, but not updated.
Cafe Loftus, a quiet place with free WIFI. It’s located on 15th Street between Chestnut & Walnut.
Good luck to my friend Terry Hansen Kaymak as she heads off to her new life with husband Barish, to his native land of Turkey. Here’s Terry and I at the Irish Pub last week.
Rain, rain go away. You’re killing all the umbrellas and good spirits
Apt for rent in my building, the Philadelphian. Studio’s are around 650 – 700 sq feet and include all utilities, and cable tv. We have balconies too.
And parties, lectures, discussion groups, A Little Pete’s, Klein’s Supermarket and a dry cleaners. Oh as well as a shuttle bus to take you into Center City. The Art Museum is across the street and so is Fairmount Park. It’s a great blding to live in.
