The First Annual Judy Wilkins Benefit for Gilda’s House of South Jersey – Ovarian Cancer Benefit
Ovarian Cancer Benefit September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Last December, my sister Judy Wilkins (pictured, sixth from the right at the Ovarian Cancer Walk last September) died of the disease at age 49. I remember when she was diagnosed she went to Gilda’s House in Somers Point, where she lived. (There are only 19 in the U.S.) She joined the knitting club, participated in group discussions and learned to apply make-up after the chemo caused her eyebrows to fall off. It was these little things that made her quality of life a little more bearable. This year I want to help Gilda’s House with The First Annual Judy Wilkins Benefit for Gilda’s House of South Jersey, co-chaired by Hughe Dillon, Billy Sullivan, and a special guest or two (hello Kendra?) at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar (500 Route 73 North, Marlton) on Monday, September 27th at 6:30 p.m.
The evening includes wine tasting from the Fleming’s 100 and hors d’oeuvres from the new fall menu, and a silent auction, all in memory of Judy Wilkins and the other courageous women who battle ovarian cancer. Donations of $25/person to Gilda’s House of South Jersey will be collected at the door. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 610-668-0164. There is a limit of 75 people so make sure to reserve soon.
