STARR RESTAURANTS AND IRON CHEF MORIMOTO PRESENT: MORIMOTO FOR JAPAN A special evening to benefit the Philadelphia-Japan Disaster Relief Fund June 7, 2011 May 2, 2011 (Philadelphia, PA) – On Tuesday, June 7th, renowned Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto and STARR Restaurants will present their best collaboration to date, as they host Morimoto for Japan. Philadelphia’s Morimoto restaurant will shut its doors for a private event where guests will enjoy a live cooking demonstration, live auction, and a memorable dining experience. All proceeds will be donated to the Philadelphia-Japan Disaster Relief Fund. A cocktail hour will kick off the evening, where champagne, sushi and hors d’oeuvres will be passed. Guests will watch a live demonstration, when Chef Morimoto showcases his knife skills as he prepares a 200-lb tuna. Following the cocktail hour, guests will sit down to a special five-course Omakase tasting menu created by Chef Morimoto, with expertly selected beverage pairings. The menu will feature dishes including toro tartare with guacamole panna cotta and hamachi pastrami, and a Morimoto surf & turf with lobster and wagyu. In addition to the regular dining room, the upstairs lounge and downstairs Private Omakase Room will be sold as a singular group experience and includes one-on-one time with Chef Morimoto. Towards the end of dinner, Philadelphia’s historic Freeman’s Auction House will contribute to the relief efforts by facilitating a live auction featuring a handful of unique experiences, like dinner for 10 prepared by Chef Morimoto in a private home. The goal is to raise $30,000 for Japan, while providing guests with a remarkable dining experience. Autographed, limited-edition Morimoto for Japan t-shirts and signed Morimoto cookbooks will be for sale. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.
