PhillyChitChatter: Celebrity News, Sightings and what’s Coming Up
Taken from my twitter stream over the past week:
@ryanseacrest was guest of honor at a cocktail party with CHOP last nite (Thursday) at the Four Seasons
in which Sharon Pinkenson responded:
He’s shooting a movie Backwards starting Sunday. Today Dan Gross, PhillyGossip has the story. Speaking of Sharon, I tweeted I saw her eating lunch with Kim Delaney last week. She later told me they would be working on a project together.
Michael Callahan has returned to Philadelphia Magazine, and tells me he couldn’t be happier. It’s nice when you can go out and try something and then return if it was’t the right fit. At my old law firm Kohn Swift & Graf it was almost like a policy they had. One girl left twice and returned.
Noah Stein left Philly Style Magazine and has landed at International Watch Magazine as their publisher.
Keith Petrowski is now at Cashman & Associates as their new Associate Vice President & Chief of Staff.
I ran into Rob and Maggie Wasserman (Rouge & 500 Degrees) last week in Old City. They were with their new baby boy Asher Flynn (Maggie has her hands full with the boys, they have two other sons.) Now Jen Carroll thought that they named their son after her favorite candy brand, but Maggie assures me he’s named after his great grandmother. Also congrats to these two on their 9th Wedding Anniversary!!
7 Fingers, a Montreal-based circus arts company bringing their high-energy urban acrobatics to this year’s Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, will be guests on NBC’s nationally televised, top-rated talent search “America’s Got Talent” on Wednesday, July 20 at 9:00 p.m.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be enjoying the concert that evening as The Delfonics, Jerry Butler, Jean Carne, The Jones Girls and Russell Thompkins & The New Stylistics pay special tribute to the 40 th Anniversary of Gamble & Huff’s iconic Philadelphia International Records and “The Sound of Philadelphia,” now entering the digital age through the launch of the new TSOPSoulRadio.com!
Also Thursday join 1st baseman of the Philadelphia Phillies, Ryan Howard, along with Philadelphia Phillies teammates and celebrity friends, when they trade in their uniforms and baseball bats for plates and aprons at Morton’s Steak House for the Ryan Howard Family Foundation annual dinner. Enjoy a 4 course dinner, a silent and live auction, meet the players and all for a good cause. 7PM Cocktails, 8PM Dinner.
Superstar Chef Jose Garces’ acclaimed Latin-Asian restaurant, Chifa (707 Chestnut Street, 215-925-5555), will continue their successful series of beer dinners on Thursday, July 28 at 7 p.m. with Colorado’s Oskar Blues Brewery. It’s unlikely you will catch a glimpse of Garces’ that evening as he is making an appearance in AC at the Chelsea Hotel for the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival official pre-party “Bikinis and Martinis” For $55, guests will savor tasty treats from Iron Chef Jose Garces, while mixing and mingling with other Food Network stars, including Darryl Harmon, Ron Duprate and J. Geoffrey Johnson.
July 30 as part of Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival join Phillips Seafood in Atlantic City for the experience in “Spirited Cooking.” Enjoy five courses of fresh shrimp, clams, crab and lobster prepared with the finest spirits, accompanied by Phillips signature cocktails.
(I think I should be in AC for that weekend, so much going on.)
8/8/11- The Fourth Annual Stars Golf Outing will take place Monday August 8, 2011 at the Trump National golf Club Philadelphia (Pine Hill, NJ) The goal is to raise funds to help 800 homeless children and families in the Philadelphia area and to support Stars Within Reach’s efforts.
Rihanna and Cee Loo played the Borgata this past weekend.
After her epic performance in The Borgata Event Center on Sunday, July 17th in which she performed all of her smash hits, including “Rude Boy,” “S&M,” “What’s My Name?” and “Umbrella,” Rihanna brought her dancers to celebrate in MIXX Nightclub with tour opener Cee-Lo Green, who performed his hits “Forget You” and “Crazy” for clubgoers. The pop princess played photographer, taping video of her fans, while being escorted around the club on Cee-Lo’s shoulders (I remember he did this with the Beibs at Q102’s Jiggle Ball this past December) before joining DJ Ruckus at the turntables, requesting to hear some of her favorite Bob Marley songs. Mike Fazio executed another “Epic Saturday’s” at The Pool at Harrah’s with one of the first rapper’s Vanilla Ice who performed at the pool after dark at harrah’s. Currently Ice, can I call you Ice? is filming a reality television series called The Vanilla Ice Project which is now on the DIY Network.,It’s about him renovating a house in Palm Beach, Florida with each episode dedicated to a different room in the house. Fazio tells me that he is very enthusiastic about his show. He is also filming a movie with adam sandler called “I Hate You dad”, which also stars Leighton Meester and Todd “What You Talking About Willis?” Angelina from MTV’s Jersey Shore Angelina was also in the house that night. Fazio says he heard the rumor she was pregnant, but it didn’t seem that way. What are you thoughts? She doesn’t seem to have that Jen Utley glow? (Photo Credit: Fazio Productions)
