HALLOWEEN Weekend: The Good, The Bad and the Sexy

The weather outside was frightful as a steady snow fell on Christmas eve, er I mean Halloween eve.
There were so many parties to choose from, and my dance card was full. The first two soirees I attended were chock full of fun. A must on my list was the very exclusive, and by that I mean the invite list was tight for the 2nd annual anniversary party of Sabrina Tamburino Thorne and Steve Thorne. It’s held in their house among the beautiful things, new carpeting etc and they wanted to limit the spills. Why do people insist on dancing with red solo cups in their hands?

You could call it a couples party. As the years have gone by the Sex in The City crew has matured, married, coupled up with babies on the horizon. Jill and Tal Jacobson (center) just had a baby 2 months ago with Frank and Alisa Frederico
Keren Ini Kates and Mike Kates just joined forces this year at their beautiful wedding held at the Society Hill Sheraton.
Larry Cohen and Chef Matt Levin have joined forces too. Former Adsum chef, Matt Levin started working with Brulee catering (formerly Max & Me) a few weeks back. He tells me that he and Larry have been friends for years and this opportunity arose. The future looks rosy. Talk about rosy…I’ve been meaning to congratulate Lauren Beloff and Anthony Sembello on their wedding a few weeks ago. I had expected to see them at the party, but they’re probably still on their honeymoon. They were married 10/15 (The night of the Good Dog Gala), down in Longport NJ, on the beach. It was beautiful.
Lauren O’Dorsio and John Colabelli, Philly Style Magazine publisher are headed to the alter within 6 months.

John Bolaris and Erica SmithemanElaine R. Grabar and Lou Yaffe
DJ Eddie Tully was spinning, so you knew you were gonna have a good time.

Sabrina Tamburino-Thorne, Kristen Foote, Eric and Tempa Berish and Steve Thorne
Larry Farnese and Christie Honigman. This year Chrissy launched her new PR Marketing firm The Honigman Group. Last Thursday she organized a party at Del Frisco’s for the Young Friends of the Academy Ball.
Guest, Sabrina, Tanya Teece, Carol, Erin Elmore, Christie take a break from dancing to pose for a pix
Tamar Olitsky, Patricia Benitez and Steve Olitsky. The Olitsky’s own Scarduzzio’s in Atlantic City and tell me they have tweaked the menu. Plus check out the new Table 31 Plaza. Dinner and cocktails can be served until December.
Michael Schulson and Nina Tinari. Michael Schulson own’s Sampan on 13th Street, and just generously donated a gift certificate for the Gilda’s Club charity event I am having for my sister Judy on Nov 21. If there’s something you could donate for the silent auction please drop me a note at buzz@PhillyChit chat.com Thanks HughE
Stacey Renée Benedetti and Stephanie Rybczyk looking darling a vampire brides
Eliana Raggio, Mike Ragg and Carol Tamburino
Nigel Richards and Nicole Cashman
John Bolaris and Chuck PerutoDance, dance, dance dance, keep on grooving
Jeff Kellmer, Kellmer Jewelers, and Marilyn Kellmer, Sun Myst Tanning Spa (124 16th St) left shortly after I did to see who’s handcuffs worked the best. I was on my way to the Grotto Party as it became to be known.
Hosted by Dean Cafiero (overalls), who opened up his house “The Grotto” for friends, and friends of friends.

The downstairs bar saw a lot of action. Remember when I covered a party at this house when the place was first put up for sale: HERE
Made in Colombia: Andrea Perez, Patricia Benitez and Marcela Herrera
Arielle Johnson looks fabulous
one thing comes to mind – did Perez Hilton coin it?
red solo cups (see above)

Shirleen Allicot, David Ricks and Hacina Saadi
Marcellus Alexander and Jasmine Ellis (6ABC Producer)
Guest, Sgt Ray, Lathie Lawless – If you didn’t make the blog this week mention it to me in the future I will make sure next time. These and those shots that didn’t make it will be in the PhillyChitChat Online Photo Album by the end of the week for purchase. (Although I am saving one for PhillyMag.com)
And at the end of the night if you found love you were lucky. Otherwise it was on to Zee Bar for their party til 6AM Halloween blowout. I went home cause I was waking up early to photograph beautiful Lancaster and Chester County in the snow. Check out those pixs later this week. Tonight Ck out Kiajfa & Julie Dorenbos Halloween Party at the Walnut Room 10PM, G Lounge’s Maxim Party 9PM, Ellen Rohlfing
Please join the 3 Nerds for Industry Fright Night: Halloween 2011 at Recess or see me at the Henri David Ball. Thanks to Secrets Limo for advertising on PCC and for donating a limo to the Gilda’s Club of SJ event in honor of my sister.

NAKED COWBOY VISITS PHILLY & OTHER One Shot Wonders & Black & Yellow stopped in for a bite where?

As you know I have a column online at Philly Mag’s The Post. Sometimes I take too many photos and the shelf time has run out for a run over there, but over hear I have no time line. Here are a few shots that need to see the light of day.

Oyster House (1516 Sansom Street, 215-567-7683) invited Times Square’s iconic Naked Cowboy to a special Buck-A-Shuck Happy Hour featuring Long Island Sound’s Naked Cowboy Oysters. The Naked Cowboy himself, Robert Burck, will join diver Chris Quartuccio, owner of Blue Island Oysters, to mingle with guests, take photos and of course, enjoy tasty raw oysters. Plump, meaty Naked Cowboy oysters will be served for $1 each on the half shell.

Before heading out of town The Naked Cowboy stopped by Rittenhouse Square to lay a tune on the people milling about
The Bellevue’s Breast Cancer Awareness Day events at Williams-Sonoma honoring two time breast cancer survivor Kathy Goldberg, who raised $5,000 for the 3 Day Susan G Komen Walk in Philadelphia. Next to her is daughter Rachel Goldberg (Teuscher Philadelphia) who is next to Elaine I. Grobman, Executive Director of the Komen Phila .Daniel Stern participated in a cooking demonstration and fed the crowd.
Philadelphia Eagles Jon Dorenbos wows the crowd at O’Sheas with his magic tricks. Maria Papadakis, NBC10’s Erin Como, Helen Shea, owners of O’Shea’s, guest and Francis, my biggest fan.
The celeb table at Estia (1405 Locust Street): This is where Mayor Nutter and wife Lisa like to sit as well as a few others. I just had lunch at Estia this week and had no idea how large it was. Great lunch too.
Duke, of Duke and Winston just hanging out at the office
Last Saturday night was City of Hope’s Hair Ball held at Voyeur. Executive Director of the Philadelphia office Harry Giordano hosted the event for area stylist to compete in prizes, and it was a hair raising event. I think I heard him say over $300,000 was raised that evening. Congrats!!
This Jelly Bean bowl is no longer located here after a guests accidentally picked it up and wondered what it would be like to toss them all up in the air and down the staircase. It’s now located behind the hostess desk, just ask them for a spoonful, in lieu of toothpicks. This week Ryan Howard stopped in for a steak sans scooter. He navigated the steps with crutches. Last night Black & Yellow

Philadelphia native Amber Rose and her beau Wiz Khalifa stopped by for a late bite to eat

Ghost Hunters at ESP & Eagles Players

Lester Holt, Jenna Wolfe, and Amy Robach were here last night filming with the Ghost Hunters doing a paranormal investigation and it’s going to air as a 2 part series on Saturday and Sunday.

Above Lester Holt with “Ghost Hunters” paranormal investigators including Grant Wilson, Jason Hawes, Britt Griffith, and Adam Berry.
This is only the second time all 3 anchors were out in the field for a segment. It’s really great for Philly. Jenna tweeted that they stopped to run up the Rocky steps on their way here!

It was a surprise for them. They knew they were Ghost Hunting but didn’t know where they were going. A producer just put the 3 anchors in a van and they were on their way. None of them had been to Eastern State Penitentiary before and I hear they had a blast.
Then head on over to Philly Mag’s The Post’s The Scene to check out who else went with us last night to check out Terror Behind the Walls. HERE

Bradley Cooper Robert Deniro, Julia Stiles Jennifer Lawrence Films In Upper Darby & Ridley Park – Video

The Silver Linings Playbook filmed in and around this house in Upper Darby for two weeks
Silver Linings Playbook is a comedy, even though it’s about a guy (Bradley Cooper) who is released from a mental institute after 4 years. He returns to his wife to try and repair their marriage, but then falls for his neighbor, the 21 year old Jennifer Lawrence.
Robert Deniro plays his dad. Here’s Deniro leaving his trailer last Thursday night. It’s not raining, his bodyguard is just trying to block the paparazzi on the other side from the shot. I got the shot as I didn’t use my professional flash and blended in with the neighbors.
Oh I forgot to mention the neighbors. “Nothing like this has ever happened in Upper Darby” they told me. And BTW Upper Darby is different than Darby, they told me. Now I know, so I won’t confuse them on Fox 29 Good Morning again, but hey thanks for watching I told them.
The neighbors catch a glimpse and a few shots of Deniro as he leaves for the night. As I’ve stated on Fox 29, director David O Russell is really cracking down on folks watching the film being shot on the 200 block of Madison St., so the neighbors have been gathering near the actors trailers. It paid off because
last week Bradley Cooper posed with them while sitting in his car, but didn’t sign autographs.
Deniro on the other-hand, posed and signed for the fans.
Bradley Cooper near his trailer last week. The Place Beyond the Pines, is the title of the movie he’s in with Ryan Gosling. (http://splashnews.com/)
Last Sunday on Twitter & FB I reported that Cooper stopped by Slice for a pizza the evening before, not a slice but a whole pie, owner Jason Dilk’s told me. Last year he stopped in with then girlfriend Renée Zellweger and had the same thing he had Saturday: a large margherita pizza with prosciutto and an arugula salad. Maybe he was reminiscing the good ol’ days. Recently he’s been linked with J-Lo, even flying out to LA the weekend before to see her, but last weekend when she was in Conn performing a concert, he was having pizza at Slice. Odd since she was on the same coast. This past week the production has moved to Ridley Park, Pa. A lot of the filming has been of Bradley Cooper running down the street in the same jogging suit with trash bag shirt, well it looks like a trash bag. A whole new neighborhood has been coming out to the filming. Jennifer Lawrence on the set of Silver Linings Playbook. I think the photographer who shot this was sitting in a car, that is why the bottom is cropped. Good job because they have been cracking down on paparazzi with in 2 blocks of the place, so somehow this guy was close enough to snap this shot.

A neighborhood that was used for Halloween in a scene earlier this week. One of my readers saw I posted a “casting call” for that scene, and was picked for it.
Julia Stiles: I reported last Sunday that she had dinner at Barbuzzo
Wednesday she shopped along Walnut Street stopping in American Apparel and buyingThis skirt (I’m sorry but it’s ugly.)
And this combination. I like it!!

In Honor of my sister, Judy Wilkin’s, the 2nd Annual Gilda’s Club of SJ Benefit 11/21/11

SAVE THE DATE: The 2nd Annual Judy Wilkins (my sister) Benefit for Gilda’s Club of SJ. Hope you can come,
In December 2009, my sister Judy Wilkins died of the Ovarian Cancer at age 49. I remember when she was diagnosed she went to Gilda’s Club in Somers Point, where she lived. (There are only 19 in the U.S.) She joined the knitting club, participated in group discussions and learned to apply make-up after the chemo caused her eyebrows to fall off. It was these little things that made her quality of life a little more bearable. Through your generous donations, and the monies raised at the 1st Annual Judy Wilkin’s Benefit we’ve raised over $12,000 for Gilda’s Club to ensure others would benefit from their services that give comfort and confidence; And I am half way on my way to the goal of naming the knitting room after our beloved Judy. I hope you can make it to the event on 11/21/11, or donate money in Judy’s name or if you’re a business donate an item for the silent auction (email me buzz (@) PhillyChitChat (dot) com. INFO: The Judy Wilkin’s 2nd Annual Gilda’s Club of SJ Benefit at Fleming’s in Marlton NJ you need to RSVP to events (@) GlossPr.com to reserve your spot. Thanks so much for all your support, thanks to Cori Moskow & Ilana Waber or Gloss PR, and Billy Sullivan and Fleming’s Prime Rib Steak House for donating their services to this event. “Party with a Purpose” for The American Cancer Society Gala – Excellent Leadership, Location and Food

“Party with a Purpose” for The American Cancer Society Gala. Honoring Dr. John H. Glick with the humanitarian awardwent off without a hitch mostly in due part to the incredible, and hard working dedication of Beverly Goldberg with husband and biggest supporter Dr. Daniel Goldberg. Beverly and her team of workers and volunteers helped create an atmosphere of ease as the night flowed successfully from one segment to anther, and that is hard to do when you have such a large guest list, in such a large venue as The Please Touch Museum. I was really impressed, and I cover a lot of events.
Nearly 500 people gathered at the Please Touch Museum to raise more than $500,000 for the life-saving mission of the American Cancer Society. Above Rich and Margo Shevchenko
Before dinner there was a cocktail hour featuring delicious delights by Brûlée Catering (formerly Max and Me), in the whimsical boat room. It was here that I saw the unbelievable silent auction offerings. Hundreds and amazing items were up for auction, life style items, restaurants, experiences, really great gift baskets.
The focus of this year’s Party with a Purpose fundraising efforts was dedicated to pancreatic cancer research, patient services and programs. Nationwide, nearly 12 million cancer survivors will celebrate a birthday this year because of the American Cancer Society’s work to save lives from cancer.
Dr. Daniel Goldberg, and Beverly Golberg, Meredith Goldstein, Carol Lissack Lynsie and Evan Solomon and in back John J Parker, Co-Chair of tonight’s event. Other co-chairs were Tobe Amsterdam, Bunny Brodsky and Richard Massaux.
Welcome remarks were made by NBC10’s Lu Ann Cahn, above with Chef/Owner of R2l Daniel Stern and wife Jennifer.
Larry Cohen, Brûlée Catering and Chef Jean-Marie Lacroix, who created tonight’s meal, which was delicious.
Dr Robert Solit and Mrs. Linda Solit
Katie DiDio and Kris Cipparone

The live auction was conducted by actor Robert Wuhl who was able to obtain $3,000 for a dinner fore 10 at Prime Rib, $600 for a Cliff Lee baseball, a great deal of $1500 for dinner for four and a caricature on the wall at the Palm, and a signed boxing glove by legendary boxing great Mohammad Ali.
John H. Glick, MD, Professor of Medicine and The Leonard and Madlyn Abramson Professor of Clinical Oncology, was the recipient of the Friends of the American Cancer Society Humanitarian Award.
At the American Cancer event I witnessed one of the most orderly, organized processes in obtaining silent auction items. Each guest has been assigned a number to use while bidding. The winning items were then lined up using that system. The guest went to the desk, gave their number to see if they won the item and then the runner would go and grab the item. Many times this is the most hectic part of the evening, instead the wonderful evening ended on a high note with this system in place.

Stradley Ronon – Fire and Ice Associates Gathering in a Hot Place

Last night I covered a Stradley Ronon event in a location I had never photographed before or even knew was a viable rental space: the Fireman’s Hall Museum in Old City.
There was a special drink created by Phil Magee, president of Blake Florists and Decorators, who executed the event with food, decor and spirits. Stephanie Sanderson-Braem and Michelle Orloski
Christine McDevitt, Jim O’Connor, Aberdeen, Jim Kaiser, BBD LLP, John McGrath, Stradley Ronon
Elizabeth Lynch and Linda Mani, both from Urban Outfitters.
Kelly Nasser, Revlon, and Adrienne Reese, Oce Business Services.
Deanna Ballinger, Jones Lang and Joseph Kelleher, Associate at Stradley Ronon
Rick Lyons, 95 North Marketing & Design, with Gary Bagin, Chief Marketing Officer, Stradley Ronon
Darrel German, Joe Tammaro, Ronald Matthew, all of TD Bank with Gary Bagin, Chief Marketing Officer, Stradley Ronon
Maria Wing, Stradley and Rita Johnson-Greene, Astra Zeneca
The space downstairs was packed with happy associates and their clients. No partner’s were spotted at this shin dig, but behavior was respectable and no signs of lamp shade wearing peeps were spotted.
Jim Magnatta, Marissa Parker, Stradley, Amy Gorman. Amy tells me she’s planning to be a Swedish Chef. (I responded I love Swedish fish, as which point I realized it was a Muppet.)
Upstairs museum and party space
Edwin Roman, VP Phila regional Lending TD Bank, Maria Wing, Stradley Ronon, and Kathleen M. Fratantoni, CPA, . All three are on the board of Dress for Success is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women located in 110 cities across 12 countries.
Steve Fienor, Jeff Naser, PriceWaterhouse, and Kelly Nasser, Revlon, Adrienne Reese, Oce Business Services and Lon Haines. Kelly commutes to Manhattan every morning. She and Jeff lived in the Big Apple for 8 years, but decided to move to Philly for it’s convenience, and it’s small town manageable feel. That’s what I like to hear.

EVERY LITTLE GIRL DREAMS OF THAT SPECIAL DAY

EVERY LITTLE GIRLS DREAM OF THAT SPECIAL DAY
But this day was reserved for Brianna D’Amico as she wed her beau Joshua Alcorn
at St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel on the campus of Villanova University.
Josh, 30, (originally from Wilmington, De) works in Washington as the finance director for Friends for Harry Reid, the re-election campaign of Senator Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, who is the majority leader. Previously he worked for Joe Biden on his campaign for President. Brianna is the marketing director for the Windows Catering Company of Alexandria, Va. She graduated from Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
Her brother Nick D’Amico (right) walked her down the aisle and walked up the aisle with his mom Lisa Gaudio and step-dad Jimmy Kazanjian.
Katharine James designed Brianna’s engagement ring and wedding bands ! And Joe Obermiller created something special out of Josh’s fathers ring (the late Mark A. Alcorn), and made them into an amazing custom ring for his wedding day .
The reception was held at the Radnor Hotel
At the Radnor Hotel reception there was a framed letter from Vice President Biden congratulating the couple, and a mysterious blue gift box with the Presidential seal on it. Of course this isn’t it, this is the gorgeous place setting. WOW
The bride is a granddaughter of Bob Gaudio, an original member of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons greets the bride for the first time since the wedding, at the reception in the garden of the Radnor Hotel. A very special moment. Maria Papadakis and I went together. We were taking notes for her wedding next year (did I mention I’m her man of honor?)
The Bride’s mother helped with the decorations at the reception, picking out many vintage tea pots, cups and saucers used as the center pieces. I think they look gorgeous and she’s found another career.
The cake was given to the couple by Gus Isgro as a wedding gift! In front of Isgro bakery is where Josh popped the question to Brianna on Christmas Eve morning. See my write up here:
Brianna Danielle D’Amico and Joshua Mark Alcorn take their first dance as Mr and Mrs Joshua Alcorn.
Close siblings, Brianna and her brother Nick share a dance normally reserved for Father and Daughter. Brianna would go on to dance with her step dad Jimmy, and grandfather Bob Gaudio.
Lisa Gaudio Kazanjian reminisces the years gone by and as her two kids dance. Just last year Lisa had her fairy tale wedding to Kazanjian.
He is the son of Bridget K. Wilson of Wilmington, Del., and the late Mark A. Alcorn, and the stepson of Barry W. Wilson. The bridegroom’s mother teaches the third grade at the Pennwood Elementary School in West Chester, Pa. I wish I could remember the song they were dancing to here, it was very poignant.
Lisa and Jimmy, with Lisa’s step-mom Judy and dad Bob Gaudio
No garter belt here; the boys had to catch a football
The girls were still traditional with the bouquet. Guess who caught it, the little girl in the front who in the beginning of this entry was dreaming of her big day. Gawd knows we don’t really want it to be next. In another unplanned moment, the placing of the garter on the catcher of the bouquet was passed and the guests returned to dancing.
Nancy Becker and Pam Derderian and daughter Kali Becker. Philly girls Nancy and Pam , co-founders and principal partners of “15 Minutes” celebrate 27 years as biz partners this year, and a little longer as partner
Morgan McLoud and her mom Diva McLoud (or at least that’s what her mom told me her name was), is getting married next year to her beau Bobby Pette. The destination wedding will be in Italy, with wedding and brides maids dresses done by friend Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. Taking a page from Kris Humphries all Bobby cares about is the music selection, hoping to hear some Toby Keith on the dance floor, especially “Red Solo Cup.”
And they lived happily ever after….

MY PHILADELPHIA MAGAZINE, My Hypnotist Appt, Del Frisco’s and 12 hr nap

If you were following me on twitter, you know I was out all day yesterday. First I went to a hypnotist to help me get over my sugar tooth, and eat more healthy. Believe it or not I think it’s working. I had dinner at Del Frisco’s again. I had the seafood plateau, $49. And I didn’t want coffee or chocolate after wards. That’s a change cause I usually want one of them after I eat a good meal. Yesterday I also went to the gym, The Sporting Club. I’m serious about dropping some weight, it’s getting harder to maneuver around the skinny socialites, or dodge the drunken messes at bars who think I’m bumping into them on purposed when it’s just me, the bull in the china shop. Then I fell asleep at 8PM fully clothed watching TV, and that’s why there were no more tweets from me @iphillychitchat But

Yesterday I had two columns in Philly Mag that I didn’t promote like I wanted to.

The Pa Ballet Opening:

http://blogs.phillymag.com/the_philly_post/2011/10/21/hughe-dillon-pa-ballet-opening-night/

and the opening of the Phila Film Festival

HughE Dillon One-Shot: Haley Joel Osment

http://blogs.phillymag.com/the_philly_post/2011/10/20/hughe-dillon-one-shot-haley-joel-osment/

Then there’s these shots I submitted to my photo agency that were picked up my a gossip site. No doubt Haley would not be too happy with me over that top photo, but I too was mesmerized at how if taken at the wrong angle someone could look so terrible. He should only be shot from his left side.

http://www.starpulse.com/news/Noelle_Talmon/2011/10/21/just_a_bad_angle_haley_joel_osment_loo

I should have broke through the groupies and got the head shot that I needed. I only had this one to submit to my agency.
