SHARE A SLICE AT COOK:
PIE-MAKING OPEN HOUSE TO BENEFIT SHARE FOOD PROGRAM
Philadelphia, PA – On Sunday, November 20, 2011, COOK will open its doors to the public for an apple pie-making event just in time for Thanksgiving. From 5:00pm to 8:00pm, the public is invited to COOK to bake pies for a good cause. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the SHARE Food Program, which focuses on providing affordable, wholesome food to the local community. To date, SHARE has supplied over 17.5 million pounds of food to area food banks and served over 192,000 households.
Jillian Brainard of SHARE and Jackie Baik of COOK, have taken care of the hardest part about hand-making pies: the pie dough of course! Pie dough and filling for apple pies will be provided to attendees to build and bake their own pies at COOK for a $20.00 donation. Attendees are asked to bring their own pie tin and apron – all other materials and tools will be provided by COOK. They will also provide recipes, tips and may even give a demonstration on lattice-topped pie crusts. Christmas music will definitely be played and apple cider served to get everyone into the holiday mood. The retail pantry and cookbook library will also be open during the event so guests can get a jump-start on their holiday shopping. Be sure to stop by the corner of 20th and Rittenhouse the Sunday before Thanksgiving to SHARE a slice at COOK!
Date: Sunday, November 20, 2011
Cost: $20.00 (all proceeds benefit SHARE)
