BETSY ROSS RAISES THE FLAG CEREMONY, July 4th Highlights, incld Termini’s Cake & My Flag Obsession

Yesterday I went to the
charming Betsy Ross House courtyard where Betsy Ross and one of her
Colonial friends, John Bill Ricketts (founder of the American Circus),
raised the thirteen-star flag with pomp and circumstance. Betsy Ross House, 239 Arch Street. It happens everyday at 10AM throughout the summer, and really is a cute tradition, fun for kids and adults.

TODAY: Join us for a celebration of America’s Birthday hosted by the Independence Visitor Center Corporation and Termini Brothers Bakery.
A
spectacular five-tier cake will be decorated at the Visitor Center throughout the day prior to the celebration at 1 p.m. This will be the first time Termini Bros. will be off-site decorating one of their cakes in plain sight for passers-by to observe and get a sneak peak at the inner workings of what makes Termini Bros. a local icon and one of a kind. In addition to a custom designed cake, Termini Bros. will also give-away 2,500 cupcakes! |

When I took this shot, the owner was just driving up, and we chatted. He told me that he purposely chose the white flowers so there would be a red/white/blue theme. |
