BETSY ROSS RAISES THE FLAG CEREMONY, July 4th Highlights, incld Termini’s Cake & My Flag Obsession

 Yesterday I went to the
charming Betsy Ross House courtyard where Betsy Ross and one of her
Colonial friends, John Bill Ricketts (founder of the American Circus),
raised the thirteen-star flag with pomp and circumstance. Betsy Ross House, 239 Arch Street. It happens everyday at 10AM throughout the summer, and really is a cute tradition, fun for kids and adults.

The house in the rear view mirror is the house on the bay I grew up at in Stone Harbor, NJ. Folks sold it a few years back and headed South. I visited it the other day. I know the people who own it, and they’ve asked if I wanted to see the inside, but it’s only been a couple years. Maybe someday at the 10 year mark or something.

19th & Delancy

When I took this shot, the owner was just driving up, and we chatted. He told me that he purposely chose the white flowers so there would be a red/white/blue theme.
