I bet she does. She’s a smart cookie.
Three of the sweetest gals: Kristin Detterline, editor Philly Style Magazine, Adrienne Diaz and Kristyn Aldrich, Focused Studios.  (Kristin and Kristyn are both member’s of the incHUGHbator, and each of them tell me that they’ve been collaborating with many of the other ladies they met at my PR/News networking event. So excited for some of the events you’ll be hearing about soon.)

I’m in good hands now.) and Laura Powers. They met when they both worked for Kelly Boyd. Laura lives in England now.
Ian M Crumm and Marilyn. Still mentoring Ian. He’s doing great things, I’m so excited to see where he is in 5 years. I’m also mentoring a couple ladies too, which I will be writing about soon. The incHUGHbator, was sorta like a mentoring event for a large group. I’m getting so much great feedback from it lately, as many of the collaborations are taking place. I’m definitely going to plan another one in 6 months or so.

the most delicious birthday cake

Eventchic Re-Brands Itself With a 2nd Year Anniversary Party

Eventchic  has been chugging along fairly successfully for the past 2 years, at the same time as the founder and president, Kathryn Epps, has been planning her wedding. Now that marriage is imminent, she’s back to rock and rool and decided to celebrate by having a 2nd year anniversary party, as well as a re-branding of sorts. Eventchic  is a full service management firm based in Philadelphia that launched two years ago; along with her team they plan some of Philadelphia’s most fabulous events.

Strategic and stylish, Kathryn Epps (c) is the creator of the very concept
of Eventchic. With a background in event planning, marketing, finance,
retail, and fashion, Kathryn has been able to transform Eventchic from a
concept to a full service Event planning firm. She started the company
in 2011 but has been planning events of all shapes and sizes since 2007. With her is fiance Jordan and mom Cathy.

Some of the companies and organizations that they have worked with
include Urban League of Philadelphia, Arthritis Foundation, Neiman
Marcus, PECO, American diabetes Association, Opportunities
Industrialization Centers (OIC) and more.

Calvin and Kristy Purnell were glad to come out and support Kathryn

Photos: Team Philly Tailgate Party – BROAD STREET RUN

OH I’m so tardy. May was one of those months where events just exploded all over the place, and I got behind.

I did go to some fantastic, and inspirational events and one of them was
The Broad Street Run, as well as Team Philly’s Tail Gate Party at FDR
Park after the event.

“In running, it doesn’t matter whether you come in first, in the middle
of the pack, or last. You can say, ‘I have finished.’ There is a lot of
satisfaction in that.”
-Fred Lebow, New York City Marathon co-founder

“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
-John Bingham

Team Philly
Jesse Frank, United Fitness (one of the sponsors), Jake Maroney, Brownstone Pr and guest
I took this shot off of Team Philly’s Facebook page. Most of the runners I spoke with told me that running with a friend was a great motivator, but also the bands that were along the way, the high fives from strangers, the bell ringing, claps and cheers. They heard you and it made a difference.
Paulette Brown celebrated her finish in the Broad Street Run, and tonight she’s going to be on Wheel of Fortune. Can’t wait to see how much she’s going to win.
James Billups, Pinkie, Cedric Edwards and guest

Team Philly founders  Ross Martinson and Sarah Walmsley

I learned that Team Philly is a great organization. Not only is it great for exercise, it’s a great community, and you know what it’s a great motivator. I saw people of all sizes out running in their organization, and in the Broad Street Run for that matter. So if you’re looking to get off the couch, and out into the world, look them up, they don’t bite.

Check out the Team Philly Blog for bio’s on a few of the runners. HERE And to join Team Philly check them out HERE

While You Were At The Shore, Kanye West’s Promotional Machine Came to Philly to Pimp His New CD

Kanye West sings against capitalism and materialism.  I like the song, I just think it’s been done before, and in a nicer way. Good job on the hype though.

The plan was to project the video on The Barnes Foundation, The Franklin Institute and Eastern State Penn. In the end, it didn’t happen on The Barnes Foundation, and it played much later than scheduled on The Franklin Institute. (Across the country it was scheduled to play at The Bush Library and The Alamo, both of which were cancelled by officials)

My momma was raised in an era when
Clean water was only served to the fairer skin
Doing clothes you would have thought I had help

But they wasn’t satisfied unless I picked the cotton myself

You see it’s broke nigga racism
That’s that “Don’t touch anything in the store”
And this rich nigga racism
That’s that “Come here, please buy more

What you want, a Bentley? Fur coat? A diamond chain?
All you blacks want all the same things”

Used to only be niggas now everybody playing

Spending everything on Alexander Wang

New Slaves

[Bridge]

You see it’s leaders and there’s followers
But I’d rather be a dick than a swallower

[Verse 2]

I throw these Maybach keys

I wear my heart on the sleeve

I know that we the new slaves

I see the blood on the leaves
I see the blood on the leaves
I see the blood on the leaves

I know that we the new slaves
I see the blood on the leaves

They throwing hate at me
Want me to stay at ease

Fuck you and your corporation
Y’all niggas can’t control me

I know that we the new slaves
I know that we the new slaves

I’m ’bout to wild the fuck out
I’m going Bobby Boucher

I know that pussy ain’t free

You niggas pussy, ain’t me

Y’all throwing contracts at me
You know that niggas can’t read

Throw ’em some Maybach keys

Fuck it,
c’est la vie
I know that we the new slaves

Y’all niggas can’t fuck with me
Y’all niggas can’t fuck with Ye
Y’all niggas can’t fuck with Ye

I’ll move my family out the country
So you can’t see where I stay

So go and grab the reporters
So I can smash their recorders

See they’ll confuse us with some bullshit
Like the New World Order

Meanwhile the DEA

Teamed up with the CCA

They tryna lock niggas up
They tryna make new slaves

See that’s that privately owned prisons

Get your piece today

They prolly all in the Hamptons

Braggin’ ’bout what they made

Fuck you and your Hampton house
I’ll fuck your Hampton spouse
Came on her Hampton blouse
And in her Hampton mouth

Y’all ’bout to turn shit up
I’m ’bout to tear shit down

I’m ’bout to air shit out

Now what the fuck they gon’ say now?

The Franklin Institute
Kanye West’s Promotional team didn’t get permission to project his video on the sides of these buildings, and . Now if he gave it away like Prince used to do, now that would be something to talk about.

Birthday Parties Abound Last Week…

Last Thursday, what seemed to be the last day of Spring before winter set in, I headed to the Wall Ball at Vie with Dr J, which I covered for PhillyMag.com HERE

Afterwards I headed to Stratus Lounge (I honestly think it’s the best outdoor space to party. Plus DJ Eddie Tully spins every Sunday Funday afternoon)to celebrate Stacey Kracher’s birthday cocktail party. As is the case where ever Stacey is, she was surrounded by lovely ladies…Allison Smith, Aida Strata, Stacey,  Monique Elena Andes, Zeli Colón-Pennock and Lisa Parker

Elaine R. Grabar,   Jin Hee Park, Marcela Herrera, Simon T Wong

Monique Elena Andes and Ray Pennachia
Charlie and Donna Pasquale with Sabrina Strickland and Mike Dee happen to be celebrating Charlie’s bday at Stratus too. They were in the Mist Room.
With a few friends
Janice Simonsen and friend. (I love me some Stratus, speaking about Dr J, remember a few weeks ago I photographed Dr J’s 30th Anniversary of the 76ers Championship there. You can rent the space out for big parties, or small ones.)

Then I zipped over to East Passyunk Ave to celebrate Kory Aversa‘s big birthday (with his boyfriend, Dash). His client Miss Good Cupcake rolled out her new cupcake truck and served the crowd, which included the monthly QOTA crew, over 400 free cupcakes. Happy Birthday to all my friends. Sorry I couldn’t spend a quantity of time with you each, but I do believe it was quality.

And since all great culinary events need something delicious to wash them down with, we’re thrilled that Wente Vineyards will treat our guests to a Chardonnay tasting AND graciously sponsoring our ending reception. We’ll drink to that!  Ah, and before we forget, Event Chair Aliza Green, one of Philly’s foremost female culinarians, will be signing her latest tome, Making Artisan Pasta, recently named Cooking Light‘s Top 100 Cookbooks of the Last 25 Years, and demonstrating how to prepare hand-stretched pasta. Jumping in with an agricultural-organic twist, Farmer (and Dame) Linda Geren will be presenting a how-to on raising chickens, working with bees and more;

Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribeiro Have Mini-The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reuion w. Jaden Smith & Philly’s Bradley Cooper

He is currently in the UK to promote

After
performing The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme when he appeared on the
