Trailblazing, iconic, Joan Shepp, the shop with the best designers including Ann Demeulemeester, Anne Valerie Hash, and Chan Luu. Joan Shepp has been looking for a permanent location ever since being displaced from her longtime space at 1616 Walnut Street, by the  ICON1616 Apartments developers which leased the space to Sentader Bank.

Joan Shepp opened a ‘pop-up” shop at the Shops of Liberty Place on Chestnut Street

but yearned to have a stand alone store front on a bustling street in Rittenhouse Square.
She’s found one at 1811 Chestnut Street in the old mattress store
which has a beautiful staircase and a desirable address
located right across the street from Boyd’s, next door to a parking lot and on the section of chestnut Street I deemed the new “Fashion Row”, which is from 16th and Chestnut to 19th Street. In the past couple years Blue Claw, Knit Wit, Camper shoes, and Benjamin Lovell Shoes have opened along Fashion Row, and it’s been announced American Eagle, Uniqlo and Nordstrom Rack will join the mix.
Joan Shepp remains at the Shops of Liberty Place through the end of March. In February, they will have their annual tribute to Black History Month, honoring notable women, “A Women of Substance,” but first up is their very popular “Basement Sale” begining on January 15. It’s a good time to pick up all those winter gowns you’ll need for the Academy Ball, Hair of the Dog Gala, and The Heart Ball.
