WHAT: The Franklin Institute’s Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts is bringing his best telescope to 2nd & Chestnut Streets in Old City this Saturday night to show – anyone who wants to see – Jupiter and the Moon! The weather should be perfect, the stars very visible – and Pitts has scouted an ideal location! Pitts will be set-up at the corner of 2nd & Chestnut with his telescope positioned for perfect viewing. Anyone is welcome to take a look! There will even be some random astro-trivia and some small prizes. WHEN: TOMORROW! Meet some BIG STARS on the second Thursday of each month at The Franklin Institute! Night Skies in the Observatory hosted by Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts Every second Thursday of each month the Joel N. Bloom Observatory is open late to the public and offers 5 different telescopes to view celestial objects in the sky, including stars, planets, nebulae, and – if conditions are right – a galaxy or two. The evening includes a Fels Planetarium show and a lecture or presentation (appropriate for all ages) on an astronomical or space science topic. The Observatory is staffed with knowledgeable observers and free star maps are provided. The event is held from 6-9pm and admission is $5.00. Members are free.

inventory was created by the superb designers whose names are the hallmarks of high-style French furniture from the first half of the 20th Century. Tuesday night Gary and Janet Calderwood hosted Where Magazine’s party to introduce their new editor.
Publisher Laura Burkhardt did the honors, here with the new editor: Kristina Jenkins. Kristina was the editor for Where Magazine in the Southwest, covering Phoenix, Tucson and Denver, but wanted a change of scenery and moved East with her husband to take the position left vacant when Karen Gross left to follow her dreams in music.
Lori Klein Brennan, Thom Cardwell, Cari and Patti Klein. Patti and I just enjoyed a delicious lunch at Le Bec Fin. I hadn’t eaten there since I was a kid with my parents. The food was delicious and they have a very reasonable lunch, five-course menu for $55 or a three-course menu option priced at $35.
