Square 1682 Celebrates First Anniversary
with Stellar Cheesesteak Challenge To mark its first anniversary, Square 1682, a Kimpton restaurant in the Palomar Hotel,
will host the Cheesesteak Challenge: High Steaks block party on Sunday, October 17 from 3 – 5 pm benefiting Philadelphia Academies. To pay homage to Philadelphia’s signature dish, nine top chefs will share their own rendition of the iconic sandwich, whether they want to serve up an old-school classic or break the mold with their culinary wizardry. Mayor Michael Nutter will announce the winner who will receive a Cheesesteak Challenge trophy and bragging rights. The block party will take place on Sansom Street, between 16th and 17th sts. For an admission fee of $20, all of which will benefit The Philadelphia Academies, 200 guests will be invited to watch the chefs compete and sample their cheesesteaks.
