Now on to the Beer Garden News. It’s always been a fun hang out, the food is a ok, but I always thought the space was dark and unappealing. Things are about to change as one of the most successful vendors in the Reading Terminal have bought the space.

The Iovine Brothers – Purveyor of fresh produce from around the world, have bought the Beer Garden and are changing the name to Molly Malloy in honor of their mother whose maiden name was Malloy. The renovation where they will be completely gutting the place and changing the entrance to the front near the seating area, of the space should begin soon and be completed by April and it will then become a Gastro Pub focusing on Farm Fresh food. Which should be easy to obtain since Iovine is known for having some of the best produce procured from local farms.
The money raised from the Valentine to the Market will also be put to good use when the Reading Terminal renovates the market later this year including new bathrooms, a demonstrator kitchen will now be located behind the Flying Monkey Area and there will be many more classes for the general public. There will also be a new cordoned off “reserved seat area” for rental. This is perfect for bus groups visiting the Convention Center as well as any other large organization that wants to keep their group together. Next year when the renovations are finished there will also be an additional 4 – 6 retailers as the terminal creates additional space. Frommer’s, the respected tourist information service, has included Reading Terminal Market on their just-released list of America’s Best Public Markets:. So think about it, Saturday night are you really doing something better than supporting one of Philly’s most beloved treasures all while having a great time with friends, making new friends and experiencing the Reading Terminal Gala.
