Ed Covington,PRA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO DISCUSS STATUS OF VACANT LOT – Press Release
Ori Feibush, a real estate developer, has turned a trash-strewn
city-owned lot — vacant for roughly 30 years — into a welcoming spot for
customers of his month-old corner cafe, where they can enjoy their
fair-trade organic java and pastries from local bakeries (WaPo). But the City of Philadelphia wants him to return it to the mess it used to be and I guess today at 4PM we’re going to hear why.

This is beyond stupid. A law-abiding citizen does something to make a neighborhood better and instead of being thanked, he gets his hands slapped! He tried to go through the proper channels, but it seems the request was sort of "lost in the system." Or maybe his lawyer (a big shot Republican) isn't part of the "old boys network." It's very hard to get anything done/approved in Philly unless you're in the in-crowd. It's who you know – not what you know. And let's not forget about the two brothers who are trying to build, and are being terrorized by the Union thugs. World Class City status will be on thin ice if these things keep happening.
This fiasco has gotten lots and lots of national coverage. And anyone with half a brain is on Ori's side. It looks like everything at the RDA is in shambles. No one seems to know what's going on. Every person who calls/emails/etc them should get an answer (someone should tell the RDA employees they work for the citizens of Philadelphia). I think the RDA should become part of the Commerce Department.
Kenyatta Johnson and Ed Covington -two (more) empty suits collecting a good salary. Perfect examples of The Peter Principle. And no amount of MIA concerts can erase this blemish on the City of Philadelphia.
