SATURDAY Free Event: AMEX Gives Fans a Shot at Legendary merion Course in Center City Philly

So many exciting things happening this week, I’ll never get a chance to sleep in…

American Express Gives Fans a Shot at Legendary Merion Course in Downtown Philadelphia
to Benefit The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia
For
the first time, American Express will help bring the excitement of the
U.S. Open to downtown Philadelphia’s National Independence Mall through
an interactive, golf experience for Championship fans.  On Saturday,
June 15 and Sunday, June 16, American Express’s Merion Experience at The
U.S. Open Experience at Independence Mall will bring the
historic and legendary grounds of Merion Golf Club to life, allowing
fans to walk in the shoes of past champions.
During
Championship Weekend, fans in downtown Philadelphia will have the
opportunity to attempt shots at five replicated U.S. Open at Merion
moments in the American Express Merion Experience through interactive
elements, such as:
·                     Ben Hogan’s 1-Iron Clincher lets you strike your best follow-through pose replicating this iconic Merion moment
·                     Attempt Merion’s deceiving 13th Hole with a swing simulator to navigate the deep bunkers, tough hole placement and steep green that challenge the pros.
·                     Tee up for your own “Merry Mex” moment with Trevino’s Sweet Victory, replicating Lee Trevino’s cap-tossing, celebratory win at the 1971 U.S. Open
·                     Take your chance at The Pressure Putt putting green
·                     The Greenside Rough and Scottish-Style Bunker lets fans challenge chip two of Merion’s most notorious course features
As
part of its continued commitment to future generations of golf,
American Express will donate $5 to The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia
for each fan who participates in the American Express Merion Experience
throughout the weekend (up to $75,000). With a minimum donation of
$50,000, American Express will assist in refurbishing the youth driving
range facilities at Walnut Lane Golf Club, located outside of
Philadelphia, including installing new driving range tee boxes, outdoor
and indoor netting, and building on-course storage for youth programming
activities.
The
American Express Merion Experience is part of The U.S. Open Experience
at Independence Mall, a special fan exhibit from the USGA that will
bring golf’s national championship to life in the heart of historic
downtown Philadelphia during the 113th U.S. Open Championship
at Merion Golf Club. The week-long activation opens Monday, June 10 and
features an official U.S. Open merchandise store, interactive exhibits,
live broadcast of play and other unique opportunities for fans to be a
part of the excitement of Championship weekend.
