The final nail in Joan Shepp’s Walnut St store Coffin

For years folks have spent a good amount of time peering into the windows at 1616 Walnut Street to check out the fantastic windows

of Joan Shepp (the dame of Walnut Street retail.)
This was one of the last windows this past summer, fabulous paper dresses, before Joan Shepp made her move to

The Shops of Liberty Place.

Joan Shepp can now be found around the corner at the Shops of Liberty Place
(I like this sign that is on her old shop window.)

What’s taking over the space at 1616 Walnut Street?
not another fabulous store like
************
(I took the above shot last nite from inside the old Joan Shepp space, as the owners and investors of ICON1616 Apartments
gathered for dinner to celebrate several of the floors being finished and the two largest retail spaces being filled.)

Theory – WHICH IS OPEN NOW. Moving into the old Joan Shepp space is the

Santander bank, formerly known as
Sovereign Bank, but earlier this year they were taken over by the Spanish bank Santander. Over the past few months they’ve been rolling out the new name.

You can find other
Santander banks at 12th & Market, Penn Center, 19th and Market and the above sign I took yesterday at Penn Center. 15th and market Streets. ICON1616 Apartments will start taking reservations November 15, and plan to open March 2014.
