Photos: Nicole Miller Hosts “Donors Are Heroes” Charity Shopping Event

The night before what I could only describe as #snOMG the pre-Valentine snowstorm named after Angelina Jolie’s son Pax, the social season was hot with several parties all over town. It was a hard choice as I wanted to pet the doggies, and network at the Union League, but in the end I headed to parties where my friends were, the ones that show up at my charity beckon call, and this past year I called on them a lot.

First up was Mary Dougherty’s Nicole Miller shop in the Bellevue. Mary rolled out the red carpet for another charity shopping event, this one for “Donor’s Are Heros

The idea for the shopping night was Lynsie Solomon, who has really become a frontrunner in volunteering for charity organizations in the past few years. Since I’ve known her she’s been involved in the American Cancer Association, she was the first women under 30 to chair the women’s fashion show at the Union League *& first Jewish women to boot, a few years back she got involved in Donor’s are Hero’s and now she is starting a young friends group for The Wistar Institute (BTW mark your calendars for this happy hour.)
Stephen Feinberg and Sylvia Feinberg.
Guest and Jan Weinstock, Vice President, Administration and General Counsel of Gift of Life Donor Program and its affiliates, Gift of Life Family House and Transplant Foundation.

Entertainment from the Phila Art Institute
Laverne Clark and Tiffany Nicholson. That’s Laverne featured in the poster on the Nicole Miller window. She’s a Grandmother, bowler and a Heart recipient. Here’s her STORY
10 percent of everyone’s total purchase was donated to Donors are Hero’s. That might not seem a lot, but during the last event that I attended of this nature, an event co-hosted by Christie Honigman and Brian Lipstein produced proceeds of $2,000 which went to the Academy Ball Restoration.

THE PARTY IS FRIDAY, APRIL 4, 2014 at 8:00 PM!!

(It’s being held at the Four Season’s, who wrote me the other day about a tweet I posted where I said they are losing their flagship name 12/31/14 and concentrating on the new hotel in the future Comcast building as I heard from a few people and then read in published reports.

 Christia Donohue
Director of Public Relations wrote: Four Seasons will continue to manage its
existing hotel at 1 Logan Square and assist the owner with the transition
to a new brand prior to the opening of the new hotel in 2017.)

These funds will go a long way in helping us maintain our public
awareness programs, school summits and teaching initiatives. All of
which are geared to educate and dispel the myths surrounding becoming an
