A Philadelphia tradition, sledding down the Art Museum aka Rocky Steps.
Thanks to everyone for following my periscope and social media this past weekend. So much fun was had with #JonasBlizzard
Got some great shots from the balcony and was able to monitor the going ons on the Parkway
Check out this crowd waiting to sled the steps
And more people were on their way flowing in from Fairmount
and Center City
When people ask what type of sled do I need to go down the art museum steps,
I tell them anything that doesn’t have too much friction
wake boards are great
inner-tubes will do
Cardboard boxes not too bad
I’ve seen people go down on cookie sheets, hint spray with PAM cooking spray

She has a string of lights around her scarf
I believe several cafeterias may be missing food trays
Is Temple University missing a flag?
The guy in the background is going down in a laundry basket
The crowd erupted in screams of joy when a biker, named John Giordano, rode down the steps.

I met a few PhillyChitChat readers
hi
I discovered that there’s a smaller hill to the right for the kids
PS there’s also a nice hill on the backside of the Art Museum.
Then it was over for Jonas and I on Saturday night.

On Sunday the steps were packed again
PS John Giordano wins the Art Museum #JonasBlizzard Award after seeing the sled graveyard he brought trashbags back in the evening and cleaned it up. (The graveyard does pop up every snow season and the crew will get to it eventually I’ve seen, but this was a magnanimous effort)
