Capital Grille Goes Al Fresco, Glass Update, Epic Window box
Capital Grille Goes Al Fresco, Glass Movie, Epic Window Box
Friday, yeah. After a super busy week I just have one event tonight, a wedding tomorrow and then it’s back to 2 events a day for a week or so….Let’s ChitChat
I attended the Union League’s Women’s Committee Fashion Show chaired by Lynsie Solomon at noon Thursday. It was fantastic and those photos will pop up somewhere soon. On my way over I spied Capital Grille happenings. I tweeted that it looked like Capital Grille was finally joining the al fresco club. By the looks of things I though this isn’t a good idea, that corner is a hot mess. (not Wawa hot mess, but close)
But hours later when I walked passed I thought this could work. The tables are fairly separated from prying eyes and solicitors. I spoke with a few Capital Grille peeps who told me they are going to experiment with al fresco, then when it gets colder put it away until the spring when they will celebrate the debut in grand style. It’s about time, the sidewalks are fairly broad there, it’s not like 18th Street or Walnut St where it’s tough to share, especially with the placards and street side tables.
Speaking of steak, I headed to Chima last night to check out their newly renovated eatery at the corner of 20th and JFK. It’s fantastic; it’s bright, clean and the food is as delicious as ever. The COO tells me that they might be bringing back their ever popular lunch again now that the renovations is over. Hey Alex Tewfik, Foobooz and my date for the night Thanju Hamilton. Also dining with us the infamous Le from Hopsing. Always great to see him.
After Chima and on my way to the Suzanne Roberts Theater to photograph the Philadelphia Theatre Company’s Wrestling Jerusalem – October 18 – November 5, 2017 I checked out this window box garden I saw being built earlier this week.
Shazam it’s amazing. It’s on the 1600 block of Spruce Street if you want to check it out. The glass bowl has actual live fish in it. Hope we don’t get a frost too soon.
James McAvoy and his lady love Lisa Liberti were shopping over the weekend at Green Aisle Grocery. Bruce Willis spent a few happy hours at Scarpetta, seems nobody bothers him. Samuel L Jackson has been spotted roaming the Rittenhouse neighborhood, including taking in last weeks art show. Next week they head to Allentown with Sarah Paulson.
The Geeter Heater was working over time at the Palm Restaurant earlier this week
Speaking of working Jerry Blavat will be at Sugarhouse every Saturday beginning at 4PM
Two Philadelphia college students with a passion for classic cars have joined forces to Save Jewelers’ Row. Marc Patterson, a Finance and Business Analytics major at Drexel University, and Yousif Memon, President of the Temple University Motor Club, have organized a classic car show for Sunday, October 22nd, from 10am to 3pm, on Jewelers’ Row (7th and Sansom Street), in support of the Save Jewelers’ Row campaign of the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia. Patterson posted this video and invites views to the Facebook event page and LBI Limited Instagram account for more information.
Have a great weekend, see you Monday….
