One of the most exquisite gala’s to attend in Philadelphia is the Barnes Art Ball held every fall. The Barnes Foundation honored the trendsetters of yesterday and today at the 2019 Barnes Art Ball, Friday, Oct. 25 at the Barnes. They celebrated Henri Matisse’s 150th birthday and previewed the contemporary art exhibition “30 Americans.” The preview included paintings, sculptures, and photography by influential contemporary Africans American artists
Dress to impress was cocktail chic with an artistic flair for the $500 ticketed gala, which is the major fundraiser for the museum.
Philanthropists and art supporters in attendance included: John J. Aglialoro, Cathy Hughes, Aileen K. Roberts, Brenda A. Thompson, PhD, Anne F. Hamilton, Alexandra Bauer Crouch, Martha Cyphers, Marianne Dean, Kristin Detterline, Lynne K. Honickman, Mariska Bogle, Rachel Luber Cevera, Ellen Churchill, John McFadden, Samuel R. Kapp, as well as many more people who sustain the arts. Thank you to Jane Korman, who was on the committee and assisted so much before her untimely death. She will be missed. She was always so kind to me as well.
