ChitChat: Kylie & Jason Kelce at the Jersey Shore, Martha Plimpton, and Memories of Margate

(The Story of The Kelce’s is towards the bottom; Monday someone sent me the video. I was at the Longport Memorial Day Parade, and a friend of the women told me how it went down. I knew the video would get out so I tweeted the back story. It got out, and now we know the backstory, and I’m glad I got the story out before the video. )

June is at our doorstep. Spring went by so quickly, and wow the weather was dismal. BUT the weather over the Memorial Day Weekend was spectacular. I headed to Margate for the weekend, but first stopped off at my favorite bird watching spot, under the Ocean City Bridge, at the Welcome Center located in the middle of the bridge. Stop by to get info on Ocean City highlights, but don’t forget to check out the bird sanctuary located below, where many sea birds have nests, and you can watch the baby birds hatch, all the way to fledgling through out the summer months.

Last Thursday Memories in Margate celebrated its official grand opening under new ownership by Teddy Sourias, CEO of Craft Concepts Group, along with Mayor Michael Collins, (see his statement about the Kelce’s below) and Margate Commissioner Cathy Horn were on hand to cut the ribbon in front of Memories on
9518 Amherst Ave.

Spotted last week at McGillin’s and the Reading Terminal Market — Actress Martha Plimpton. Folks at McGillin’s said she was really nice, posing for pictures and she loved the McGillin’s 1860 IPA. Here’s a photo with some McGillin’s staffers (L-R):  Erin Meronyck, Martha, Peggy O’Leary, Gaby Gock Rubery. Martha was in The Goonies, Parenthood and Frozen II. No word on why she was in town, but on her Instagram she has a few city highlights.

Kylie and Jason Kelce spent the weekend at the Jersey Shore, specifically Sea Isle where it’s been reported they live. Beach goers told me Jason was friendly and posed with lots of kids when asked. A TikTokker spotted Kylie on a morning walk, but respected her boundaries, as she said she knew it was the only time both of them had peace in the morning. Kylie responded to her on her TikTok saying she’d look out for her in the future.

Saturday evening Jason and Kylie headed to Steve & Cookies by the Sea on a date night with another couple. (Which I did post Sunday night, when I ate there. I put on my IG Stories they were there the night before)

As they pulled into the parking lot, they needed to wait for a spot to open, as is always the case when you eat there, but turnover is fairly quick about 10 minutes. As Jason’s famous car idled there, a women walked up to the famous Tesla truck and began banging on it to get Jason’s attention. K&J got out to find out what was going on. The women then asked for a photo with her family. He declined, it wasn’t a good time, and she screamed at him “How Dare You Say No!!” The women went ballistic after not getting her way. (BTW there is a video of her banging on the truck, I don’t have that one but I know several people who have seen it?? Also the man in the photo, was with the Kelce’s, he wasn’t manhandling her as someone commented, they were having dinner with him and his wife, who are connected to the Eagles organization.)

Not one to shy away, Kylie defended their decision, as the women shouted the Kelce’s would never be welcomed in Margate again. The women got into Kylie’s face, and not one to shy away Kiley gave it right back to her, telling her to just shut up you’re embarrassing yourself as Kylie’s friend (in blue) encouraged her to break away and go into the restaurant.

The Duchess of Delco, defends her man. (my reader dubbed her that when I posted the above Tweet to discuss in details the incident, as I had seen the video Monday morning.)

A good rule of thumb. When someone says this isn’t a good time for a photo, or they’re out for a night. Take NO as the gospel truth and don’t make a spectacle of yourself. If you really want to meet Jason Kelce buy a ticket to the OD on June 26th for the Autism Awareness Fundraiser.

Despite that dust up, people told me the couple had a lovely evening, laughing and enjoying their meals. A few people walked by their table to say hi, the only one who stopped by was Michael Rubin, owner of the Sixers, but I haven’t had a double confirmation on him being there.
After Dinner Jason hung at the outside bar with new friends. Later they were spotted at Tomatoes down the street, hanging out with the crowds, unbothered. They did stop by Memories first but moved on as it was packed, and the line was wrapped around the block.

And just like regular people, they headed home Monday and were stuck in traffic on the AC Expressway around 6pm, according to a reader who sent me a photo of his much famous Tesla truck and all it’s bumper stickers.

In response to the recent altercation involving Kylie Kelce, wife of former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce, Margate City Mayor Michael Collins (above with Teddy Sourias, at the opening of Memories on Thursday) has issued a formal apology to the couple. The incident, which took place during their date night over Memorial Day Weekend, has drawn significant attention. The couple, while trying to enjoy an evening at Steve & Cookie’s By The Bay restaurant, faced an unfortunate confrontation with a woman demanding a photo.
Mayor Collins joined the Mike and Diane Morning Show on 95.1 WAYV to make the following statement:
“On behalf of the City of Margate, I’d like to formally apologize to Jason and Kylie Kelce for the experience they had in Margate over the holiday weekend. As a father with young children, I know, as well as anyone, the importance of a date night with your wife and would like to offer Jason and Kylie an opportunity for a redo date night dinner in Margate on me.”

Listen to it here

Hughe’s Note: People questioned why did I do the tweet yesterday, before the video surfaced? I knew the video would surface, and the 8 second clip doesn’t tell the back story. I didn’t want to publish the video, but I wanted to make sure people knew the confrontation was over someone wanting a photo.

I’m comfortable with my decision. The other night someone sent me the video of the fight on the Boardwalk in OC. I decided not to run that either. Both were very volatile.

Would it have come out if I didn’t do the series of tweets, I don’t know. I’ll never know, but what we do know is it was a provoke response, by a rude person, who wanted a photo.

PS there’s no reason to ID this women, or harass her. Enough people know her. No doubt she won’t be in Margate for awhile.

I’ll be down the shore a lot this summer. Hit me up, I’m around.

Socially Yours, HughE
