What’s New at The Phillies Ballpark this Season, Who Knows Who Phoebe Phanatic is? A Phillies Puzzle and Star Wars

Good Tuesday morning. Hope you have a great Monday. It’s still a bit chilly out, but the 2016 baseball season is nearly upon us in just a few short weeks. We’re all getting ready for Opening day April 11. Last year was the first time I had gone in years and it was so fun, especially trying out all the new menu items. This year there’s even more new menu and merchandise items, and the Phillies and Aramark, Citizens Bank Park’s exclusive concessionaire and merchandise partner hosted a preview last night at the park. Sadly I couldn’t make it as I was covering the annual City of Hope’s Let Them Eat Cake, which I will write about tomorrow. Photos by Mitchell Leff.

Phoebe Phanatic gives a warm welcome to the Chick Fil-A cow. Chick Fil-A
is a new partner this year, and will be available every game except
Sundays.
Tommy Greene becomes the first alum to be morphed into a virtual bobble,
thanks to a new Coca-Cola Morphing Station that will be located behind
Section 122.

Members of the Galapagos Gang, who will be at the ballpark every game this season, have fun with the fans, one of which is wearing the new Phanatic hat.

Nicki Minaj Celebrates Easter in Philly, Heather Mitts Feeley Gives Birth, Dom Streater Is Pregnant, Molly Eichel is Engaged Plus More

Good Monday morning, hope you had a fantastic weekend.

Mike and I were in DC enjoying the Cherry Trees, old friends and stay at Capital Hill Hotel, located in the cutest neighborhood in DC, Capital Hill. (sponsored partnership). More on that later this week when the majority of my photos and story will be published.

After performing overseas to adoring fans, Nicki Minaj flew back to Philly to be with her main Easter hunny, Meek Mill, who is going into his 2nd month of house arrest.
Just a few weeks ago we saw AJ Feeley and Heather Mitts Feeley at the IMS Dance for Future Stars. She was looking stunning in her Badgley Mischka dress.

Congratulations are in order as the happy couple had a baby girl, Miss Blake Harper.

She joins brother Connor who was born 2 years ago.
Next up babies are due for

 Todd and Elizabeth Herremans
and Brent and Celeste Celek, who were also at the event, in the late stage of their pregnancies.

Speaking of pregnancies, Philly’s other winner of Project Runway, Dom Streater, who is currently on Project Runway All Stars,
announced on her social media this weekend, that she too is pregnant. Congrats to Dom and Ivan Shpylchak on their upcoming project.

I thought the biggest story at the Eichel household this weekend would be how I was finally able to get a photo of Barbara Beck Eichel, and then put it in my PhillyMag column. She’s camera shy, but Mazol Tov to Molly and Jesse on their engagement!!

Speaking of new projects, Edward Barnes, who has worked at Saks Fifth Avenue for the past 6 years, is leaving and going to Barneys Philadelphia, located at Rittenhouse Square. He’s also notable for being a dancer in the Philadelphia Ballet. It’s like an end of an era over at Saks, first the longtime store GM leaves, then Randi Edelman and now Edward. Change is the one constant thing that happens in life.  This also tells me that Barneys of New York, is staying put after rebranding itself from Barney’s Co-op last year. So stop by and say hi.

Congrats are also in order for Joules Santos, Joan Rivera’s niece. Who won the best Easter Bonnet (homemade too) at the South Street Easter Parade yesterday. She’s wearing a gorgeous outfit bought by Matt Clifford (l).  It’s their tradition to go to the promenade, then head to the 7th Street carnival in South Philly. It was a great day to do that.

How awesome that she’s on the cover of the Philadelphia Inquirer today too.

Other notables seen at the parade yesterday: Matt, Priscilla Pantaleno and mom Alicia Vitarelli Pantaleno

Alex Holley, Fox29, Mayor Kenney and Councilman Mark Squilla
Philly.com has a great story and photos of the event were taken by Clem Murray, check it out here.

What’s Happening TODAY:
Who is going to Let Them Eat
Cake
is Philadelphia’s Wedding Cake Design competition today? Do you need VIP tickets?
I have a pair to give away. Make sure you are a subscriber to PhillyChitChat, and send me an email that you want the tickets. The 7th person will get them. I will meet you at the Loews at 530PM.
my email is buzz@philly chitchat.com thanks and have a sweet day.

Diana Rocco leaves CBS3, Meet Jim Donovan’s Angels, Teal Butterflies, Easter Parade Contestant Rules

Good Friday to you. Such a busy week.  This weekend Mike and I will in DC to check out the cherry blossoms. I’m also doing a Capital Hill Hotel activation, which means they are hosting us at their hotel and I’m going to blog about it, and do a social media take over for them. You’ll see the majority of those photos on their site next week, and I’ll share them with you. They’re having a really cool political theme offer for the rest of the year, and I can’t wait to experience it. Have a wonderful holiday weekend, and if you’re lonely, reach out to that friend who you’ve been meaning to get together with. There’s a good chance they are looking for something to do too. SUNDAY my FAVORITE PHILLY SPRING Easter event is happening. THE South Street Easter Promenade.

The 85th Annual Easter Promenade returns with a
sea of bonnets, bows, bunnies and brunch options. Thousands are expected
to turn out and parade down South Street in their Sunday Best. Henri
David, the World’s Tallest Bunny, the Easter
Bunny, Mr. & Mrs. Cottontail and the Philadelphia Freedom Band will
lead the crowd from Passyunk/South to Headhouse Square for a best
dressed competition for kids, adults, families and PETS too! Check out here for contest categories.

So much happening at CBS3 with comings and goings, that veteran reporter Diana Rocco slipped out the door. She headed to NYC and can now be seen on WABC 7. She told me that the offer was one she just couldn’t turn down. The new girl sure does look happy.  Good luck Diana!!

This morning I caught Erika von Tiehl and Katie Fehlinger on the CBS3 at about 5AM. Those two were having so much fun. Erika as you may have heard is leaving soon to get married, and make a career change while at it.  This is her last week at CBS3, so tweet her a sweet goodbye.@evontiehl
But don’t fret, everyone’s favorite Jim Donovan will be slipping into the anchor chair with these lovely ladies helping out.
Meisha Johnson, Brooke Thomas and Katie Fehlinger,

I revisted Vesper restaurant this week. The food has always been delicious, but this dish, the lambchops, were fantastic and very reasonable. 3 chops, on succotash, for $15. It’s a delicious bargain compared to another restaurant I recently visited that had delicious chops. PLUS there was live music playing, with a lovely lady singing during our meal. It wasn’t too loud and we could hear ourselves chat.

Vesper Philadelphia | Where Nights Are Bold

223 South Sydenham Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.

Drew Bergman and I had dinner. He has the braised beef, a generous portion, and delicious. Drew you’ll recall spoke at the American Suicide Awareness Gala where I was honored last November. We were chatting about an event that Drew is hosting in a few weeks.
Tickets and Info HERE
***********
Ice Cube and Deon Cole were seen roaming around the lobby of The Logan Hotel yesterday. Earlier this week they walked the red carpet
at The Pearl Theatre at Avenue North for their new movie: Barbershop: The Next Cut. Philly’s Eve is also in the movie, but she couldn’t get away from her billionaire lifestyle to say hi to her old hometown.
Check out the progress of the 19th Street Pearl Properties. Looks like the Target Express store is just about finished. I think we all thought they were going to leave the last portion of the Boyd Theater, where the seats were. For the longest time they had left that section of the building, but as you see here they are tearing it down.
Speaking of 19th Street, the 1919 Apartments are nearly done and new tenants are already moving in. Look for their grand opening party in April where hopefully we’ll get a closer look inside. I hear it’s magnificent. They’ve done a great job at matching their building with the Blue Cross building next door.
Congrats to Paul Steinke, who posted this shot of the former Provident Mutual Life Building last week.
“The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia is pleased to announce that Paul Steinke
has accepted the position of Executive Director, effective in June.  He
replaces Caroline Boyce, who plans to establish a consultancy for
nonprofit organizations.”

My sister Janine started this campaign in honor of my sister Judy Wilkins who passed away from Ovarian Cancer. She doesn’t want money, she just wants your nails, to be painted teal and for you to do the butterfly pose. Then tweet or FB share the photo.
Spring is here #tealbutterflychallenge #ovariancancerawareness know the symptoms
Won’t you please contribute your nails to Ovarian Cancer Awareness and tweet out a photo?
Check Out The Scene at Philly Mag to see the 5 parties I photographed this week.

CCD Celebrates 25 Years of Clean Streets With a Celebration

The Center City District (CCD) marked its 25th anniversary of providing services to make Center City
clean, safe and attractive with a special thank you luncheon for all
its employees and paid special tribute to 11 individuals who have worked
with the CCD since its founding in March 1991. A total of 42 other
cleaners, Community Service Representatives, Philadelphia Police and
administrative staff were recognized for 5,10, 15 and 20 years of
service.

This year is also the 60th
anniversary of the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation (CPDC),
which created the CCD. The awards luncheon was the first of a series of
events to observe the anniversaries.

Since
March 1991, CCD cleaners in their easily recognized teal uniforms have
been highly visible sweeping and pressure washing sidewalks and removing
graffiti. Community Service Representatives (CSRs) have become a
familiar reassuring sight, working in partnership with the Philadelphia
Police Department and offering greetings, information, aid, or just a
friendly smile to downtown pedestrians.

Happy 25th Anniversary – CCD’s 25-year Employees  Sherron Dudley, Sidewalk Maintenance  Thomas Fitzmaurice, Sidewalk Maintenance  Edward Vinluan, Sidewalk Maintenance  Robert Klineburger, Police Officer  Warren Messing,

Police Officer  Moses Pierce, Community Service Representative  Karl Tyler, Lead Supervisor  Henry Hippert, Director of Operations   Denise Jones, Administrative Assistant   Bonnie Thompson, Director of Web Development and Interactive

And Paul R. Levy, President and CEO who was presented by with a mural arts painting of bike helmets, by CCD Marketing director Michelle Shannon.

Harry Potter Spin-Off to be Filmed in Philadelphia

This past week I had been hearing rumors ie my google alerts have been blowing up, that the Harry Potter Spin-Off “Quidditch Through The Ages” was to be Filmed in Philadelphia.

Quidditch is a competitive sport in the Wizarding World of the Harry Potter universe, featured in the series of novels and movies.

I saw a posting about it on FB from a friend who lived in Chestnut Hill. I thought could it be that J. K. Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter series, had heard about Chestnut Hill’s very popular Harry Potter Festival Weekend which occurs every fall in the leafy neighborhood.

courtesy of Chestnut Hill Business Association

Had she heard about the Mid-Atlantic, round robin “muggle” Quidditch tournament held at Chestnut Hill College. Had she heard that this year Chestnut Hill College will host its Fifth Annual Harry Potter Conference
in October 2016. The Harry Potter Conference is an annual,
interdisciplinary academic conference held at Chestnut Hill College that
provides a forum for scholarly presentations arising out of J.K.
Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Maybe they would film then.

I found a news article on March 18 with the Harry Potter rumor from KSP33 News –
A new Harry Potter spin-off film tentatively entitled “Quidditch Through the Ages,” based on J.K. Rowling’s spin-off novel of the same name is reportedly in the early stages of pre-production and a significant portion of it will be filmed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Details of the film are understandably tight-lipped at this point but insider sources claim that it centers around the Quidditch World Cup which will take place in Philadelphia.
Quidditch, a sport popular among wizards and witches, was a key element of the novels but was significantly cut from the Harry Potter films.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are reprising their roles for the upcoming film as are a number of others from the Harry Potter series.  “Quidditch Through the Ages” will be the next spin-off after 2016’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” but it will be the first spin-off to have much of the original cast. (source)
But then my hopes were dashed when I found another story floating around on a site called Local News 33
A new Harry Potter spin-off film tentatively entitled “Quidditch Through the Ages,” based on J.K. Rowling’s spin-off novel of the same name is reportedly in the early stages of pre-production and a significant portion of it will be filmed in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.  Details of the film are understandably tight-lipped at this point but insider sources claim that it centers around the Quidditch World Cup which will take place in Charlotte.
Quidditch, a sport popular among wizards and witches, was a key element of the novels but was significantly cut from the Harry Potter films.

(Source)

Then the O’Reilly Post’s title said:

Harry Potter Spin-Off to be Partly Filmed in Kansas City

Is this an early April Fools Day Joke? Ugh I have Harry Potter mad click rage….Does anyone know the real story? I hope there’s an inkling of truth, maybe there are going to film it in all the cities?

PhillyGossip: Russell Westbrook Gets Lucky, Dance Mom Tot in town, Baby News, Philly Actor in House of Cards, and Chio in the Morning

Happy Monday Morning, so glad the weather alarmist were wrong and it didn’t snow on the beautiful cherry trees which have begun to blossom.

A photo posted by Philly ChitChat (@phillychitchat) on Mar 18, 2016 at 2:51pm PDT

I’m on my way to DC later this week and am excited to see their Cherry Blossoms bloom for the first time. I’m being hosted by Capitol Hill Hotel. They have a very interesting Election Year deal going on that they want me to experience. You can follow my exploration of DC via their twitter @CapHillHotel  as I take over their account next weekend.

Oklahoma Thunder’s Russell Westbrook was in town last week to play against the Sixers on Friday. Thursday was a big day for Westbrook. He stopped by the True Religion store at 1604 Walnut St to check out his new like of tshirts and sweat pants. (shot from video he posted) Later that night he got lucky at SugarHouse Casino. On Friday he made a sweet 1 handed dunk to Thundering past the Sixers in a final score of 111 to 97.

In town yesterday was Dance Mom’s breakout tiny tot star JoJo Siwa. Who greeted a long line of fans as well as the Kellmer Family at SunMyst Tanning Salon (124 S 16th St,)
Jeff Kellmer (l) Marilyn Kellmer (r)

Speaking of Sun Myst, I reported earlier this year that Susie Celek‘s Skin Palette sunless tans is now offered at Sun Myst. Friday she was spotted at the Flyer’s game with Cindy Webster and Natalie Egenolf.
Saturday night Susie’s former partner in tan, Julie Lynn was out celebrating PR powerpuff Jen Sherlock’s birthday. OH my those gigantic meatballs.
This adorable – Michael Magnatta, Comcast and her cousin Marisa Magnatta, WMMR in a Now and Then Shot.
Speaking of power duos: Lynsie Solomon and Alison Young. Last week at the Young Friends of the Academy Ball’s Happy Hour at Capital Grille, Lynsie, the Chair of the Young Friends of the Academy Ball announced that Alison Young, would be 2018’s chair of the Young Friends. Their official title is Chair and Vice Chair, but political powerhouse David Maser, husband of Alison, deemed them Madam B and Madam VC. This shot was taken at the Garces Gala on Friday night.
Look for photos in the Philly Biz Journal today.
Philly actor Mike Lyons, who played a Senator in Season 3 of House of Cards, has been promoted to Speaker of the House in the just-released Season 4 of the popular Netflix series.   Here is his IMDB link.

Philly’s Mix 106.1 Chio in the morning , Sunday morning at Somerdale, NJ Great Clips after being clipped by Sandee Bengel
How do you get to Carnegie Hall, practice, practice, practice! That’s exactly what Chris Blackman and Wendy Frame‘s son did. He was there with Friends’ central Chorus who took part in the “Total Vocal Contemporary A Cappella Music Concert” on Sunday.
Also in NYC, Lisa Jefferson, Dane Farrell and the crew from Allied THA Philly, as they attended the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Premiere at Radio City Music Hall. (1260 Ave of the Americas, New York, NY 10020)

John Waters lives in Baltimore, so when The 24th National Conference on LGBT Equality was held there this past weekend, he stopped by. Here he is with Philly’s Vince Ryan, who just wrote a compelling piece about Hillary Clinton that was picked up by the Washington Blade.

Pretty awesome
To get an invite to one of Main Line Real Estate Agent’s Michelle Leonard’s dinners is a joy. She always goes all out on her table settings. In fact she has a whole room in her house just for table ware.

People have been going gaga over a bald eagle couple that has made the National Arboretum their home is
nesting for a family this month. The eagles laid two eggs in the
past week, and now you can watch as they await their eaglets thanks to
two well-placed, live-streaming nest cams.
Fast forward a month and the babies are born and ready to be fed, see that fish dad dropped off yesterday morning.
I’ve been lucky enough to catch a few of the eaglets feedings. They are so adorable.
