McGILLIN’S Olde Ale House St. Patricks Day Night Party Photos

I love McGillin’s and often eat lunch there, but I knew it was going to be extra special on St. Patrick’s Day

With a bigs thumbs up from a party goer
the night was kicked off in the right direction
I got there about 5PM to a sea of green

laughter (and spilt beer)
more laughterAnd heard one of my favorite songs:
Where it began I cant begin to knowin But then I know its growin strong

Was in the spring And spring became the summer Whod have believed youd come alongTouching hands, reaching out Touching me, touching you Oh, sweet Caroline Good times never seem so good
So GOOD, So GOOD,Who’d believe you’d come along
Warm, touchin warm Reachin out Touchin me Touchin you
Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good Ive been inclined To believe they never would
And then my dad’s favorite song: (The Unicorn Song, [ok it’s really Danny Boy but that is entirely too depressing]) A long time ago, when the Earth was green There was more kinds of animals than you’ve ever seen They’d run around free while the Earth was being born And the loveliest of all was the unicorn
There was green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you’re born The loveliest of all was the unicorn The Lord seen some sinning and it gave Him pain And He says, “Stand back, I’m going to make it rain” He says, “Hey Noah, I’ll tell you what to do Build me a floating zoo, and take some of those…
Green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you’re born Don’t you forget My unicorns

Old Noah was there to answer the call He finished up making the ark just as the rain started to fall

Hey Lord,
I’ve got green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I’m so forlorn I just can’t find no unicorns”

And Noah looked out through the driving rain Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling Oh, them silly unicorns
Now you might think this is the ending to the song, But I’ll have to tell you friends that in fact you’re wrong You see, Unicorns are magical, so when the rain started pouring, They grew themselves some wings and they took to soaring.
You’ll see green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees But if you’re looking for the unicorns, don’t be forlorn, The second star to the right and straight on until morning. Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin’ You know that I have from the start So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart (Ok that’s enough of the song lyrics unless you want me to start on Madonna)
Under the watchful eye of officer TrautzVlad wants to know why he’s not in the pictureLICK ME I’M IRISH her sticker says Thumbs Up!! This girl is the spittin image of my friend katie http://www.nirmada.com/
I love this photo, some guy is trying to stick a sticker on her that says “Spank Me” and she doesn’t want anything to do with it!

hmm no comment
I was going for that posed, yet candid shot on the left

Hello next time you Union League guys aren’t allowed in without a little green on

ST. PATRICK DAY PARTY WEEKEND benefits for Project H.O.M.E. and City of Hope

Friday night I attended the 27th Annual Muldoon’s Saloon to Benefit Project H.O.M.E. and I must confess I never heard about the other 26th annual events, but when I heard it was for Project HOME I had to cover it. I am a HUGE Sr. Mary Scullion fan and will do anything I can to promote her charity (besides my annual contribution)

It was held at The Boathouse Row Bar, in the Rittenhouse Hotel Here are two of my favorite people in Philadelphia Sr. Mary Scullion and if you are a long time reader of Philly Chit Chat you know who hair that isWanda Paul (PCVB), Sr. Mary Scullion and Ferey Don Absesajctu (ok I may have butchered that last name) I did pick up a good tip from the Philly Magazine photographer, who brings a pad and has the subject write down their name and phone number. (The phone number for verification on the spelling)
John B. Kelly, III, PNC Capital, David Marshall owner Rittenhouse Hotel and Sr. Mary Scullion of Project H.O.M.E.
Father McNamee, St. Malachy Roman Catholic Church and Councilman James KenneyChris Mullins, Bill Gehrman, Sarah Hines and Patti Spanol enjoy the festivities (DON’T FORGET TO STOP BY http://www.mcgillins.com/ 1310 Drury St, you won’t regret it, but don’t take my word, how about these folks – http://www.yelp.com/biz/mcgillins-old-ale-house-philadelphia ) As I make my way through the events I cover in Philly I see a common thread, which is awesome, because not only do I love covering these events, giving the chairites the publicity they need, but I get to run into some of the same nice people that I normally would never have met before I got into event/press photography: This event was for the Hospitality Crowd of Philadelphia which is why I saw Nick Corsano of Navigaytor, PR Patti Klein and Mark Beyerl
Last year PR person Karen Spiro (http://www.eventures.net/) had a party where I met Thom Cardwell who was instrumental in helping me meet the right people, attend the right parties and understand Philadelphia nightlife (for lack of a better word) and tonight she introduced me to my other idol, Society Columnist David Iams (I think I made him blush as I recalled his columns in the Inquirer). Karen Spiro understands what I am trying to do for Philadelphia.
Sr. Mary and Mayor Michael NutterRegina gets waited on by Mayor Nutter, who can pour a mean glass of wineDavid Iam’s tickles the ivory and gets into the spiritsDavid Marshall and Fr. McNamee author of “Diary of a City Priest.”
My girlfriend Where Magazine Publisher, Laura Burkhardt sporting her new ‘do (I just saw her last night and she looks as fantastic as ever. I know she goes to many more events than I do, and I don’t know how she still looks so fantastic. Does she have a picture of Dorian Gray in the closet?) with her is James Zeleniak of Punch Media PR. Looking forward to meeting the International President of Rum next month at an event he is having with Thom Cardwell at the Rum Bar at 2020 Walnut Street.
The celebrity bartender crew David Marshall, Sr. Mary, Mayor Nutter, David Benton, ? yike opps help me out someone, and John Kelly III (This event was also sponsored by The Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB), a private non-profit membership corporation, is the official Tourism Promotion Agency for the City of Philadelphia, and the primary sales and marketing agency for the Pennsylvania Convention Center. – Thanks for the invitation)

If that wasn’t enough for a fantastic event, Saturday night I went to the BUCKmonkey (queertimes.com [Thom Cardwell * James Duggan]) and Kildare’s “Kiss Me I’m Gay” party down on 2nd Street to benefit City of Hope. http://www.cityofhope.org/home.htm

Over 200 members of the GLBT and their friends packed the upstairs of Kildare’s. A bacherlote party that was going on in an adjoining room join in on the fun and brought a friend that brought the party to a whole new level – Here’s Stephen and the bride to be (It’s hard to imagine a penis and my idol Sr. Mary on the same page, but I’m going with the St. Patricks theme here)Priceless reaction George, Mark & Steve
Michael B and Judge Dan

There was a little Pulp Fiction dancing going on with Thom Cardwell and Mary Patel

Nick who I saw last night at the Muldoon’s Saloon, lets down his hair while dancing up a storm with Thom and Joe.
I love the guy on the left who has completely let down his hair
When I asked these girls their ages, they told me they were carded at the front door, whipped out their id’s that stated they were all 26. The funny thing they all had the same name, sorta like George Forman’s kids I guess? Nah that’s not true, but I am sure they were carded, I was, but do they really look 26?

The dancing queens young and sweet only …About midnight I called it a night, I think the guy on the right called it a night about an hour before to see more photos of “Kiss Me I’m Gay” check out http://buckmonkey.blogspot.com/

As seen on Walnut Street on my way home. Should I send this to Rittenhouse Magazine, which is on stands now. This month marks my debut featuring some of my photos that I took in the Rittenhouse area. Happy St. Patricks Day, see you at McGillians on Monday!!

IS THE BAT MOBILE LOCATED UNDER CITY HALL?

Or has one of the lights been knocked skyward? Last Saturday the sky was wicked (sometimes I don’t even have to leave my house to get a good blog shot)Oh but sometimes I do and am awarded with a photo published in Us Weekly like this week and my shot of Amy Smart (who I have to tell you I had no idea who she was, but one of my friends tip me off to shoot her as she walked towards the tents at fashion week that early Sunday morning on 2/3/08) Have a nice weekend:-)

SERIOUSLY, I WAS GOING TO WRITE ABOUT PAT CIARROCCHI and her baseballs

I noticed when I was hanging out on my ladder waiting for the celebrities to make their way down the red carpet that Pat reached into her bag to grab a few baseballs. Since I am very familar with the autograzzi (shout out to Philly’s Team Derek!) I knew exactly what they were for I thought who cares about Paul Giamatti, I want to get Tom Hanks signing Pat’s balls
so I made it over there, running into gossip maven Dan Gross and saying I think Pat’s gonna get those balls signed and wouldn’t that make a great picture. I waited, and waited for the moment she asked him to sign the balls
And after he walked away I could see they were signed; I asked her how did it happen. She told me he signed them as he spoke. He just took them out of her hand and signed them. She told me they were for her husband and went over the story with me; I was going to ask her if it was alright if the photos and story could be published, but she disappeared. And then later I had second thoughts about going through with any publication because I thought, maybe Pat would get in trouble for doing this on the job or something. So I didn’t persue it. I know, I know I am never gonna make it in this business because I am way too sensitive about my pap shots and peoples feelings. But thank God their are people who don’t care about those things, because lo and behold you can catch the story, without pictures, at http://www.phillygossip.com/ see below:
Dan Gross reports: CBS 3’s Pat Ciarrocchi who covered the red carpet arrivals, made certain to get a baseball signed by Hanks and Giamatti for her husband, David Fineman, a baseball freak, she said. What’s their baseball connection? Giamatti’s late father was former MLB commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti, and Hanks starred in “A League of Their Own.” Several months back, Ciarrocchi got “The Natural” star Robert Redford to sign a baseball while interviewing him when he was in town. Ciarrocchi bought the ball at the Constitution Center’s gift shop for $9.95. The center is hosting the “Baseball as America” exhibit through May 11. The “John Adams” series begins at 8 p.m. Sunday. We haven’t seen it; Daily News TV writer Ellen Gray will weigh in Friday.

TOM HANKS Paul Giamatti JOHN ADAMS HBO Screening PHILADELPHIA

Paul Giamatti makes his was down the red carpet. Something Philly does different than NY, the the video/media/tv second are placed first, the photographers second. The problem with this the actors are tired by the time they get to the still photographers. On the otherhand there’s less of

the whoring of the last minute photos as the actor is being interview on camera and photographers shoot them, blinding them on camera. SO I don’t know which is better really. Pat Cirocchi giving us a little color on the Red CarpetI’m on a ladder, but it doesn’t help when people in front of me shoot with an extra high flash. In NYC we use a list for first come first serve, in Philly the bruts just fight for their spots. I presented the list I had to the PR but they didn’t understand, the photographers weren’t going to follow it and said it wasn’t NY. So I asked the PR to show me the set up, but she said it would be an hour before they showed up and she didn’t think we would want to stand there. I guess she doesn’t know how the pit operates. We jumped into our positions. I did get a front spot, but the poor guy who had been there first didn’t (arriving about 4PM to the Constitution Center), I was the only one willing to give up my spot. I hope he remembers who has his back. I really much prefer to shoot in NYC with the professionals.
Tom signing for a fan as he walks inhmm $9.95 copy of Forest Gump. SHARPIE people, use SHARPIES. The signature comes out nicer.
The Screen writers wife is as ecentric and into the spirit as he is

How many times can you say you seen Archibold without his Ben Franklin outfit on

The author and the screen writer, can you guess who is who
Paul Giamatti and himself as John Adams

GAMBLE AND HUFF INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME

Last week at Macy’s they celebrated their induction with an appearance and autograph signings. It was great to see them in person. About 100 people came out, a lot of fans, children of people who used to work with them and old friends, like Patty Jackson from WDAS
Gable & Huff

Kenny Gamble
Leon Huff (I don’t know them well, but I think one of them has a more demostrative personality)
Checking out an old photo of them with this girls uncle

A few fans ‘graphsJust a note on the R&R Hall of Fame inductions; I hope you had a chance to see Madonna’s speech. Nice to hear her talk in her regular voice losing that English accent, and really humbled.

THE PERELMAN MUSEUM – I finally went to see it and like its right next door to where I live. Don’t stalk me!!

This sculpture is iconic with the new place, I see it on their brochures and in photos. I was surprised with the placement in the building. Not a very clean area, sure it’s white and sterile, but whats up with the horizontal lines and red exit sign?

Now this would be better suited if only it was 20 feet wide
Art is subjective http://www.philamuseum.org/perelman/
That’s it for this week as I am off to NYC for 24hrs of intense celebrity stalking, er I mean photographing. Big event tonight with the opening of the Terrance Howard and Anika Noni Rose Cat on a Hot Tin Roof play on Broadway. See you next week… www.Confessionsofapaparazzi.com for the photos.

More photos from last weeks 4th Annual Flavors of Philly

The American Liver Foundation’s 4th annual Flavors of Philadelphia ( www.liverfoundation.org/chapters/delvalley/about/) was a hot ticket last night, as the city hails the culinary soirée of the year. Two dozen “prep kitchens” rolled into the elegant Crystal Tea Room to provide each of the local celebrity chefs a private space to prepare their outstanding, gourmet four-course meal for their very own of table of twelve lucky guests. Flavors of Philadelphia patrons were treated like royalty as they began their culinary adventure with exquisite hors d’ oeuvres before sitting down for a personally prepared, specially designed menu, complete with wine pairings. (Nutter was there, not rapping though)

Laura Burkhardt who was the celebrity chef for Susanna Foo, gave the Mayor his first meal of the night.Voted “Woman on the Move” by Mainline Life Newspapers Sarah Dohney of http://www.yubpr.com/ who helped put the whole thing together. I really love this shot of Nutter and Sarah.
Hmm shrimp

Here she hands out her latest cookbook to the guests at the Philadelphia Park Casino’s Park Grille tables who were about to enjoy Chef David Zuckerman’s four course dinner.

ANOTHER BIRD BRAIN IDEA GONE SOUTH

Look who flew into town, er well Bensalem, yesterday to sign her new CD single “Outta My Head (Ay YA YA), hmm. Anyway for only$1.96 you could have a meet and greet with Ashlee, or as Perez calls her Asslee. It beats the $250 folks had to pay to meet Paris a few months back. Well there was one bird that must have missed my entry and Dan Gross’ column on that subject. see http://phillychitchat.blogspot.com/search?q=paris (first two entries)

Meet Red Robin, waiting patiently sans CD for a meet and greet.
Meet the Q102 security teamRed Robin waits anxiously with her handler Ashlee appears with her Starbucks, water, Hand Sanitizer and bodyguard Red Robin recives the news, not only did she not buy a $1.96 CD, or stand in line with the rest of the fans, but she didn’t RSVP as a VIP so Ashlee would not be posing with her. In tears, Red Robin flies the coop

But not before a few fans stop her for a photo op

If Red Robin had only purchased the $1.96 CD, maybe things would have been different
