Made in Philadelphia – Free Festival Labor Day Weekend at FDR Park
If you’re looking for a chill festival to attend this week with your friends, something with a little shade and the ability to come and go as you please, parking and close to transportation? I think FDR Park Music Jam should be on your list of festivals to attend this weekend.
FDR Park Music Jam FREE Festival: Get away from the crowds on the parkway this weekend and head down Broad Street instead for a free outdoor festival with a laid back environment and phenomenal live music. On Saturday 9/3 and Sunday 9/4, in association with Philadelphia Songwriters Project, Parks on Tap is hosting “FDR Park Music Jam,” a two-day, local music festival at FDR Park, right next to the stadiums. The festival features a list of locally acclaimed songwriters, artists and bands from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. In addition, South Philly recording artist, Felicia, will be performing an opening set at 2 p.m. both days. Here is the full lineup:

4:00 Bernard/BJ Sarkissian Music – plays original, recovery-based music in a method to connect with patient populations

5:00 Ryan Tennis – has opened for Grammy Winners Kenny Loggins & Shawn Colvin. Also performed at the Philadelphia Folk Festival

6:00 Ginger Coyle – singing since she was 14 with conscious lyrics and soulful pop melodies over acoustic guitar and driving piano

7:00 Angela Burns Music – with a family history in bluegrass music, Angela carries on the tradition with her own folky pop twist

8:00 Ross Bellenoit – toured with Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello as a member of Amos Lee’s band

Barks on Tap: In addition, the following week Parks on Tap will be at Fairmount Water Works from September 7 to 11, and on Thursday 9/8 we are hosting a community dog party “Barks on Tap,” a fundraiser for the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). From 5 to 10 p.m., 100 percent of beverage proceeds will be donated directly back to PAWS by the Tuttleman Family Foundation and Parks on Tap.
