Street Soccer USA This Weekend at the base of the Art Museum Steps
I’m heading out for my weekend vacation but wanted you, you who are doing a stayvacation here in Philly to know about this cool event that is happening at the base of the Art Museum Steps, as well as near The Oval.
Street Soccer USA is hosting the inaugural Street Soccer USA Philadelphia Cup on May 27-29. Teams from Philadelphia and from across the country, ranging in age from six through adult will compete in exciting four versus four 15-minute matchups in a specially built Street Soccer Stadium at the base of the Art Museum steps for the right to be crowned Street Soccer USA Cup Champions. The Street Soccer USA Philadelphia Cup also marks the launch of Street Soccer USA’s sport social change initiative in Philadelphia. – Lawrence Cann speaks about the impact of Street Soccer USA, how it creates a safe space for kids, builds characters, trust and commitment to better one’s life.
Street Soccer USA builds the grassroots capacity of soccer in urban areas with the goal of transferring life skills and coordinating a social safety net in the community for its participants. The Street Soccer USA Cup Series underlines Street Soccer USA’s mission to extend the benefits of sports to all by building fields, providing coaching and training, as well as education and employment programs to underserved communities.

Fans and players are encouraged to join in the festivities and register to compete in the Street Soccer USA Philadelphia Cup. The event is a free and open to the public.
The Street Soccer USA mission is to build life-changing community based sports programs that reach the least served communities across the United States and beyond.
They do this by creating safe places to play and supplying trained, caring coaches, social service coordinators, our curriculum, and basic equipment, Street Soccer USA improves the personal capacity of our participants to achieve bigger goals in terms of education and employment.
Outside of the tournament, Street Soccer USA is launching a youth initiative in Philadelphia to build mini fields and after school programs for youth who don’t have access to these. Beyond sports programs, SSUSA has a curriculum of life skills and mindset teaching that focuses on improved outcomes in school.
