We finally got a Slip & Slide in Philly

Sunday afternoon, Schmidt’s Commons hosted the Ultimate Summer BBQ. Recently the former Piazza underwent a name change to The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons (1001 N 2nd St), so this was one of the first events to happen under the new moniker, and it drew a nice crowd from the neighborhood as well as the City, despite the ominous clouds.

There were food trucks on hand, as well as entertainment including DJs from Creep Records Store and live tunes from West Philadelphia Orchestra.

The eateries and retail stores were open, and their were community and promotional tables for attendees to peruse.

Did I mention the Zip Line, yes there was one of them and people lined up to experience the thrill. I was working so I didn’t get it a try, it had nothing to do with my fear of heights, I swear. hmmm

There was also a slip & slide – whew we finally got one here in Philly

The Ultimate Summer Cookout aims to be a new annual tradition where neighbors and visitors can come together to celebrate the end of summer in the city. The party is part of the new events schedule, managed by the property’s first full-time events coordinator, and designed to create a more vibrant community of local residents and business owners. This summer, The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons also announced new tenants including WeWork and debuted a renovated courtyard featuring modular furniture.
