There’s a new sports bar in town, but to me it was more of a luxe lounge with many TVs to catch your favorite sports team. JL Sullivan’s is, by defintion, a cozy hideaway where the surreptitious sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is aided and encouraged. A high-end gathering post where sumptuous comfort cuisine and chic ambiance fuse. The first of it’s kind, JL Sullivan’s primary function is as a provocateur; offering the finest in food, spirits, and atmosphere. http://www.jlsullivans.com/site/index.php

Confident in it’s prohibition era theme, JL Sullivan’s Speakeasy seeks to establish itself as Philadelphia’s first restaurant, sports bar and lounge providing a nostalgic feel combined with modern and approachable luxury. I understand the speakeasy secret hideaway theme, but let me tell you beyond these doors I felt like I escaped from the noise of the City into a kind of Oz of food, fun, comfort and lots of TVs. Even the hideaway had a few hideaways.

Right off the bat I knew it was going to be a fun evening as I ran into Jason and a Philly Chit Chat fan Jen Karwoski, who hosts Kinky Quizzo over at
www.Valanni.com next Kinky Quizzo is this Tuesday @ 10:30pm 1229 Spruce St Philadelphia,PA 19107 215-790-9494 (I must make it over there soon)

When you walk into the old Zanzibar Blues nightclub you immediately notice the change, to a much more light color, modern hip destination, capturing the vastness of what made Zanzibar so exciting but

including a few nooks and crannies for a getaway for friends or couples to socialize. In one of the back rooms I found the entire Philadelphia Force Professional Softball Team
http://www.philadelphiaforce.com/ The girls would love you to come on out and catch their games in nearby Allentown, Pa

A good time was had by all as there were banquettes throughout the club so you and your friends

could party in a more intimate spot

Mother daughter – Can you believe it?

I ran into my friends Josh and April (with their friend Matt). The last time I saw April and Josh they were making me a homecooked meal in NYC where I was for 18 months on a business trip 8/05 -12/06. I saw them the first week I arrived in town, and then I discovered the celebrity paparazzi thing and I never looked back. They recently located from the Big Apple to Philly and are enjoying it as the more manageble and happening city that it is. I look forward to seeing them more often now that we are in the same city again. (April went to college with my sister, they were roomates) They enjoyed JL Sullivans as it really captured the exciting nightlife they were used to in that other town.

Bringing a little color to the festivities gotta love that carribean inspired dress

Good friends relaxing on the white leather wrap around sitting area. I sat down on the plush sofa, and it was a good while before I wanted to get up

With plenty of TV’s to watch there’s not a chance that you will miss your game

even when eating dinner, as each table has their own TV for your personal enjoyment. Through that door on the right is another nook to hide away in. This club really has a lot of different personalities,

did I mention the food. I had tuna tarte and the buffalo chicken wings, both were delicious and presented well.

Oh yeah and these little hamburgers were delicious. Now that White Castle seems to have bitten the dust, these babies more then fit the bill

JL Sullivans features a long white onyx-topped bar wrapped in black leather with smartly dressed and easy on the eyes waitstaff to attend to your every need.

Even after the open bar was over, folks at this party lingered for hours to watch the game, order dinner and enjoy the atmosphere.
