The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. Serves Up Specialty

I stopped by The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co., Tuesday and spoke to Mike the GM about what to expect at The Franklin. He offered me the chance to take a few photos, but it just wouldn’t justify it as workers were in the midst of a whirlwind to put on the finishing touches on a few elements. So I asked him a few questions about what his guests should expect. The Franklin is going to be a comfortable place with lots of banquette seating and a smattering of small tables. There’s a bar in the back where some people may prefer standing, but he stresses it’s all about comfort, enjoying each other and the drinks. “We’re going to have an expansive drink menu consisting of ‘special’ drinks with top shelf liquor. People are going to come here because we’re going to be serving delicious drinks that can’t be found anywhere else.”
Everyone’s invited, there is no VIP section, no bottle service, no membership, doors are open to anyone who wants a mixed drink (ie no douche factor). Drinks start at $11.
If Varga Bar is about the beer, The Franklin is going to be known for its specialty drinks.
Sort of an odd name for a bar/restaurant … but who am I to say what's right or wrong???
You are so IN THE KNOW, Hughe. See you tonight at OCTO. You may see Adam at Alex’s, then he will be at Octo
In response to the "odd name" response, (true, but there's a story) I'm pasting this from their FB page for clarification on the name:
In the late 1920's, The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Company served as the front for the largest alcohol ring in the country. Max "Boo Boo" Hoff and his cronies ran about 10,000 gallons a day via truck, train and bus. Their operation dwarfed even that of Al Capone's.
The Franklin will be opening in late June in the Rittenhouse Square section of Philadelphia. The bar menu will showcase pre prohibition era cocktails, and is an historic and refreshing change for the nightlife scene in Philadelphia!

Hope this helps! 🙂
