The Hamels Foundation Fulfills their Dream To Maintain a Philanthropic Presence in Philadelphia

Now that Cole Hamels has signed on long term with the Phillies some of the plans that The Hamels had on hold are starting to take shape like establishing a permanent office in the area, with a retail store to raise funds for all the good works they do plan to do through The Hamels Foundation.
What an amazing concept. The store is located in Bryn Mawr, at 880 Lancaster Ave.
On Friday night I attended the friends and sponsors opening party for the new concept store, which Cole proudly told me was Heidi’s idea.

The Hamels Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization
founded by ’08 World Series MVP Pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies,
Cole Hamels and wife, Heidi. The Hamels Foundation supports inner city
schools in the U.S. and has given away some of the largest public school
grants in Philadelphia. It is also dedicated to helping Malawi’s one
million orphans and victims of the AIDS/HIV virus.
A primary school is
currently underway in Malawi’s most impoverished area. For more

The Cole Hamels autographed baseballs are all
$300, except for just a regular major league baseball which is $150. The
$300 ones consist of 2008 World Series baseball, 2012 All Star game
baseball, 2007 All Star game baseball, 2011 All Star game baseball and
2009 World Series baseball. To the right I found a Kyle Kendrick ball, signed for only $60.

I don’t know why I didn’t buy this for my friends son Cole. He would love this. I wonder if I could get it signed?

There was a Cole Hamels Bobble Head for only $65, I should have bought that, not for the signature, but for the fact that it was a bobble head of Cole Hamels. What’s that like to have a bobble head of your self?

 Signed hats
This signed light plate was $65 as was the frame. If only I had a double light switch.

This shirt was from The Hamels Foundation annual Diamonds and Denim event held every summer. The retail store and offices are also a mini museum

Oh I even spotted my Philly Mag Society Page where I covered a Jen Carroll/Hamels Foundation charity dinner, which was filmed for the Bravo TV show “Life After Top Chef.”

The food was delicious, but I didn’t partake in the cake as I gave up sugar, cookies, and cake for New Year’s. Now I haven’t been perfect, but I have lost 10lbs. Although just looking at the cake is making my mouth water so I must go to the next picture now… (BTW Sandy Stauffer of The Bakery House provided the cake which had a baseball globe on it.)

I was on Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia on Monday and chatted about the new store, as well as the Hamels new baby girl Reeve. Heidi tells me that they fell in love with Reeve in Ethiopia in October and were so blessed to bring her home on Christmas Eve 2012, which is how they derived her name – Reeve. Christmas Eve. Very sweet.
