Update: Montparnasse 56 Group Observation Deck at Liberty Place

Montparnasse 56 Group Observation Deck at Shops of Liberty Place is under construction as we speak. You’ll recall in December it was announced that plans were underway to build an observation deck on the top floors of One Liberty Place, 1650 Market St. The observation deck would occupy the 57th floor, and include seats and a little cafe to enjoy the view.

If you walk by the west hallway, you’ll see plans are underway to build a visitor center to the new observation deck. To do this they temporarily moved Au Bon Pain, which used to occupy the space behind this wall across the hallway, and permanently moved Les Richards men clothing store also across the hall.
Au Bon Pain is planning to move back to the what will now be a much larger space, partially located under the escalator, and include lots of seating for their extended hours to accommodate the observation tower.  On the 2nd floor there will now be the observation towers ticket office as well as a gift store (which will take over what was the malls management offices). Before the Fall 2015 opening of the observation tower, the proper name will be released. It’s going to be a major sponsor name so think maybe Parx Casino Observation Tower or maybe Bloomingdales Outlet Observation Tower. Although the ink is not dry yet, Bloomingdale’s Outlet store plans to move into the spot above Ruby Tuesday’s, at 17th and Chestnut St at the Shops of Liberty Place.  Don’t forget you can still visit Philly’s current observation tower at City Hall.
