The Long Awaited Bud & Marilyn’s is Opening, Next Up for Marcie & Val a Move to East Passyunk

Chef Marcie Turney and partner in life and business Valerie Safran – two pioneering entrepreneurs whose seven restaurants and boutiques on 13th Street (Barbuzzo, Lolita, Jamonera, Grocery, Open House and Verde) in Philadelphia have helped transform the once desolate
neighborhood into the trendy Midtown Village. In September 2013 the duo moved a bit south down 13th and opened Little Nonna’s on Locust Street. Around the same time they announced they’d have another concept at the other end of the building at 13th and Locust Streets.
Patience is their virtue. Slowly since that time they have rolled out info on the new spot calling it Bud & Marilyn’s, a classic American restaurant named after Turney’s grandparents who owned a popular restaurant called The Spot, in Ripon, Wisconsin.
The entrepreneurs always seem to be looking ahead towards their next project, and they’re patient; so it might be some
time before we know exactly what Marcie and Val are planning to do with this 8,694sq foot property
they bought in March on East Passyunk Ave, 1315-21 E Passyunk Ave. (Passyunk Square) No doubt it’s going to be exciting, and transformational. It’s a block away from Pat’s and Geno’s, the PHS Pop-Up Beer Garden, the Italian Market, and within blocks of the hottest restaurants in the City on East Passyunk.
