It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and much earlier than ever. Over the past couple years the trees of the City seemed to be lit in the first week of December, but it seems this year the powers to be sensed we needed Christmas right this very minute.

Another Christmas Tree Making Spirits Bright before Thanksgiving is the Philadelphia Museum of Art Tree which is being lt on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Standing at almost fifty feet tall, the Museum’s holiday tree will sparkle down the Parkway with solar-powered lights. Kick off the season with us at this public event.

Light refreshments, live performances, and ugly sweaters on the East Terrace.

The Museum will remain open with Pay What You Wish admission. Head inside and visit the galleries.

Then next Saturday, after the jolly one arrives on Thanksgiving, The City lights their tree. I know firsthand Mayor Jim Kenney is excited. Last year he told me he’d be moving the tree out from the City Hall Courtyard and out to Dilworth Park, cause the Tree is the People’s Tree and everyone should be able to see it. On Thursday, Mayor Kenney placed the first ornament on the tree.

Franklin Square Holiday Festival & Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show

November 10 – December 31, 2016 (except Thanksgiving & Christmas)

The free show, presented by PECO, incorporates a giant lighted kite and 50,000 lights choreographed to holiday music. The show runs every 30 minutes from 4 to 8 p.m. on weeknights and 4 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Other festivities include visits from Santa, rides on the holiday train and carousel, min-golf and the brand new Ben’s Bites & Brews. Don’t Even Think Of Driving in Center City This Weekend – Take SEPTA

The Philadelphia Marathon ROAD CLOSURES 2016

Some of the major areas impacted include:

The Benjamin Franklin Parkway Friday, November 18 through Sunday, November 20
Citywide along the 26.2-mile route of the Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday, November 20
The I-676 off-ramps at 22nd Street (westbound) and 23rd Street (eastbound) will be closed on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20 after 4 a.m. for event security preparation. Ramps at 15th/Broad may also close, if needed.

Friday, November 18
The outer lanes of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., on Friday, November 18. At 3:30 p.m., all lanes will be opened for the afternoon rush hour.

Saturday, November 19
For the Half Marathon, due to enhanced security, City of Philadelphia “no-parking” regulations will be enforced strictly and all vehicles on the race route will be relocated, beginning at 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 19. Drivers impacted are encouraged to contact Philadelphia Parking Authority at 215-683-9550.

Street closures will be in effect for the Philadelphia Half Marathon, Rothman Institute 8K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, from 2 a.m. until 3 p.m., along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, between 20th to 25th Streets, and also on Kelly Drive, Martin Luther King Drive, and numerous other roads in Center City (see complete list below). Signage labeled “no parking” will be posted in the Parkway area, and elsewhere, along the race course in advance. On Saturday, the vicinity near 18th Street and the Parkway, and the Logan Circle area will be closed to vehicular traffic until 11:30 a.m.

Griesing Law hosted their 14th bi-annual Meet the Artist event; this time featuring the work of Philadelphia artist Jacqueline Ferretti. Over 100 people packed the firms offices 36th floors up at 1717 Arch Street to view 45 original works including ink, oil, metal & mesh and a cloth kimono.

Guests sipped beverages and enjoyed hors d’ ouevres. The firm continues to provide local artists space to showcase and sell their art with all proceeds going back to the artist, Jacqueline Ferretti.

Oh talk about time getting away from me, always during this period, the height of Philly Social Season, I get behind. Some events I put on the back burner promising to publish as soon as I have a moment. This was one of them. The photos ran in Philly Style Mag and Philly Mag, but I always wanted a minute to run more. To thank my friends for coming out and supporting me as I was honored by the The Philadelphia Chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention last November 14. The Philadelphia Chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is proud to honor global speaker and mental health advocate Kevin Hines with its 2017 Lifesaver of the Year Award. Hines has canvassed the state of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Region spreading the message of hope and sharing his arr of living mentally well. He is one of the most respected and admired voices of lived experience. In the summer of 2013, Kevin released his bestselling memoir titled Cracked Not Broken, Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt. His story is a remarkable testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder for us to the love the life we have.

But the style winner of the evening was Todd Herremans rocking this trending ‘do. He told me his wife did the braiding. At the end of the fashion show each of the Eagles players participated in selling their jersey’s which would be personally signed to the winner.

Good Saturday morning. I took a little break this week from blogging, but at the end of today’s entry I will connect you with a few of the parties that landed in the media. I will definitely be catching up with all the events I have covered in the past 2 weeks and I apologize for being side track and then complete down and out. Lots of great things happening in Philadelphia, and I’ll fill you in on some of them tomorrow in Sunday’s edition of PhillyGossip on PhillyChitChat. One of the events I covered was for my client the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. Ive shot for them for the past 5 years, and it’s always a spectacular show with good quality crafts. Prices range from affordable to I need to take out a loan. What it does proved is delicious eye candy, and great ideas for decorating. It’s a nice getaway from life for a few hours. A Few Election Day Festivities I hit Up, and Who I Saw

Yesterday I hit up a few spots to check out election day festivities. In years gone by politicians used to go to the 4th Street Deli on Election Day, and I did too. In the past few years they started going to Relish as well. Last year it seemed that most chose Relish (7152 Ogontz Ave) over the Bella Vista stop.
