Don’t Even Think Of Driving in Center City This Weekend – Take SEPTA

The Philadelphia Marathon ROAD CLOSURES 2016

Some of the major areas impacted include:

The Benjamin Franklin Parkway Friday, November 18 through Sunday, November 20
Citywide along the 26.2-mile route of the Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday, November 20
The I-676 off-ramps at 22nd Street (westbound) and 23rd Street (eastbound) will be closed on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20 after 4 a.m. for event security preparation. Ramps at 15th/Broad may also close, if needed.

Friday, November 18
The outer lanes of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., on Friday, November 18. At 3:30 p.m., all lanes will be opened for the afternoon rush hour.

Saturday, November 19

For the Half Marathon, due to enhanced security, City of Philadelphia “no-parking” regulations will be enforced strictly and all vehicles on the race route will be relocated, beginning at 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 19. Drivers impacted are encouraged to contact Philadelphia Parking Authority at 215-683-9550.

Street closures will be in effect for the Philadelphia Half Marathon, Rothman Institute 8K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, from 2 a.m. until 3 p.m., along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, between 20th to 25th Streets, and also on Kelly Drive, Martin Luther King Drive, and numerous other roads in Center City (see complete list below). Signage labeled “no parking” will be posted in the Parkway area, and elsewhere, along the race course in advance. On Saturday, the vicinity near 18th Street and the Parkway, and the Logan Circle area will be closed to vehicular traffic until 11:30 a.m.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect significant delays when trying to cross roads or streets that are adjacent to the course. Police will allow traffic through intersections along the course, when possible, depending on the flow of the race participants. All streets are scheduled to be reopened by 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 19.

Sunday, November 20

The Art Museum Area

There will be no parking enforced from 7:00 PM July 3, 2012, to 7:00 AM on July 5, 2012 at the following locations:
2200-2900 Blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue-South Side Only
2300-2400 Blocks of Fairmount Avenue
20th Street from Callowhill South to Spring Garden
21st Street from Pennsylvania North to Spring Garden
2100-1900 Block of Hamilton Street
23rd Spring Garden to Broad Streets
1600-2000 Block of Arch Street
1500-1700 Block of J.F.K.
Pennsylvania Avenue south side must remain clear to prevent potential gridlock during the concert and fireworks.

The following street closures will be in effect at 4:00 PM on July 4, 2012:
Fairmount closes to westbound traffic at Corinthian, and will be diverted Northbound onto Corinthian.
15th, 17th, 19th, and 21st Streets will be closed to Southbound
traffic at Spring Garden and diverted Eastbound onto Spring Garden
toward Broad Street. (If you live in this area, you have to produce ID to prove it. If you’re going to a party, I believe they make you park outside the zone.)
Spring Garden Street will be closed to Westbound traffic at Broad
Street.  Callowhill Street will be closed to Westbound traffic at Broad
Street.
Hamilton Street will be closed to westbound traffic at 17th Street.
29th Southbound will be shut down at Poplar Street and will be diverted onto Poplar Street, East Bound or Westbound.
 SEPTA Public Transportation Information

July 4

        SEPTA
subway will run until 12:30 A.M. on July 5.

        PATCO
will run on its usual schedule of 24 hours/day at 15 minute intervals.

        The
Regional Rain will run to all 12 destinations.

        Trains
will depart from Suburban Station between 11:30 A.M. and midnight.

        Specific
departing times will be advertised in Suburban Station.  

        SEPTA
buses will be staged on 20th and 21st streets.
