CHIT CHAT PHILLY – WHAT’S NEW FOR THIS WEEK & beyond

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Last week I started this info column where I am going to put tidbits that don’t normally fit anywhere else. I’ve decided Monday is the day it will be on PCC. Sometimes I will include an additional entry, but today just this one.
IF YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT YOUR FRUSTRATION ON THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: Tonight sit in live on the Philadelphia Eagles’ DeSean Jackson 950/ESPN radio show at the aloft Philadelphia Airport Hotel with Brent Celek. Hopefully it will be more successful than his New Year’s Eve Party which ended up being cancelled. I hear he partied in the New Year’s at Vango on 18th Street instead. Then stay and Salute The Philadelphia Police Department at Thanks for Keeping Philly Safe Night. Guests will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with Jackson and Celek while paying tribute to Philadelphia police.SHOUT OUTS: To Montco mom Beth Hegedus who is starting her own political communications company called Hegedus Connex – Your connection to the connectors? Check out her political blog at http://www.pa2010.com/author/bhededus/

To Annie Heckenberger who broke her shoulder right before the holidays. She had a really tough 2009, I do believe she deserves the best 2010 possible. Follow her on Twitter @anniemal and wish her well.

Philly Cup Cake is getting geared up for Justin Pizzi from NBC 10 coming to visit us on January 6th at 10AM to shoot a segment for 10 at 10. We are inviting all… http://bit.ly/91gs04

It’s the new year, I promised two different folks I would keep quiet til then, but two big named restaurant owners are looking to settle in on East Passyunk. It might be the same property as I understand there is really one space large enough left. (That is all I can say since the ink is not dried on any contracts and I swore I would not mention their names.)

OH speaking of South Philly I hear formal editor of Philadelphia Daily Candy’s Meredith Lindemon is opening her own PR Firm. I wish you well and look forward to your press releases.

Thanks to Philadelphia Style Magazine for publishing one of my Tweets in their January Issue; plus you’ll find a few party pictures I took.

It seems like only last week when Steve and JoAnn Ward (w/sister Monica Ward)hosted the national premiere party for VH1’s second season of “Tough Love” at Union Trust Steakhouse in Philadelphia (He also brought in the New Year’s at Union Trust with friends and family members). When the Sixers take on the Washington Wizards on January 5, Philadelphia based Master Matchmaker® Ward will share his successful dating advice with Sixers fans searching for love. (Check out the latest Philly Style Mag for a Q&A with Steve on romantic places to go in Philadelphia) At a special halftime meet-and-greet, Ward will mingle with fans in the AT&T Pavilion to offer dating advice and sign copies of his new book, “A Crash Course in Love”. For those looking to follow his advice later that evening, fans are encouraged to sign-up for a speed-dating session hosted by Ward immediately after the game. (Also coming up 2/13 Speed Dating: Steve Ward & Joann Ward is performing at Dusk Nightclub – Caesars Atlantic City in Atlantic City, NJ.)Remember if you haven’t gotten your tickets yet for The Lemon Ball Saturday night at The Marriott Downtown, you still have time. Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF) will host the Fourth Annual Lemon Ball on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 7pm at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street. The Lemon Ball is an evening of cocktails, dinner, raffles provided by Govberg Jewelers, silent and live auctions and entertainment bringing together supporters of ALSF in their work to find a cure for all children with cancer. The Lemon Ball is presented by Volvo Cars with support from CIGNA and nearly 100 other sponsors. American Idol Alumni – Jordan Sparks performs
Last week I asked for prayers for my friend Joan, but now Top Chef Jennifer Carroll has made public that her family needs prayers for her mother Joan Carroll. Joan underwent brain surgery last Wednesday. With everything going on with Joan, she still took the time to write me a heartfelt email last Sunday wishing me a Happy New Year, telling me that my family and I were in her prayers and then detailing her upcoming surgery. Although the surgery was successful Joan is not out of the woods yet, so please keep her in your prayers as well as her family. Thank you. Hughe
Thanks for an incredible record year in visits nearly 600,000 unique visitors in 2009, with that and almost 1800 twitter followers I believe I can really get the good word out in Philly. I have been honing my coverage, focusing on interesting events, people, and my beloved Charities. Now I hope to include theater like I keep promising, and movie reviews. What I can’t promote is jewelery sales, clothing sales, or anything that should really be considered advertising. If I ever accept advertising then I would consider them. I can’t thank you enough for reading PhillyChitChat. I’ll try and work on that spelling.
I know you were on vacation last week, so don’t forget to check those entries especially the 2009 wrap-up blog ; Check back tomorrow for the New Year Eve & Day parties I went to.
