Friday the Buena Onda Fresh Fish Tacos peeps had the friends, family and the press in to try their delicious fare at the new Garces Group eatery in the Franklin Town section of the City.

Buena Onda has a very welcoming vibe, light airy and comfortable. It’s not a dressy place, it’s a cute laid back first date place, instead of coffee.

I read a few stories from some of the peeps who came before me and they raved over the taco’s, which by the way were delicious, I tried both the fried and the broiled Mahi Mahi, and it was superb, really. They were $3.50 each. There’s also a fish of the day one, and a shrimp one.

Actually it might be easier to check out the menu here. Everything is really reasonably priced.

I looked at my colleagues pages and no one seemed to get the Chop Salad which I got with Chicken, $8 plus $4. It was a generous portion, and delicious.
Guacamole $7, there’s hot sauce on the table to make this snack complete. This is perfect for Mike who doesn’t like too much fuss on his chips, but I think I’ll try the nachos next time, they’re a dollar more with the works.
No doubt there will be a line for this place come summer, no fret they give you a Yard’s beer sampling.
Jose Garces has been busy, earlier in the week he opened:
“Rural Society Chef Jose Garces Brings Buenos Aires to Downtown Chicago at Loews Chicago Hotel http://www.chicago.ruralsocietyrestaurant.com”
What’s really amazing is this small, fast food kinda place has a liquor license and serves killer margarita’s I hear, a few frozen too. (I don’t drink.) They also have canned beer,
house red and white wines and
Boylan’s Fountain Sodas.  Boylan’s uses sugar cane for it’s sweetener.
Buena Onda Fresh Fish Tacos opens tomorrow: 11AM to 9PM
