Mercer Cafe at the Navy Yard Serving The Famous Tacconelli’s Pizza and Other Good Things…

The folks who brought you Tacconelli’s Pizza, then Mercer Cafe in Port Richmond, have opened a new eatery Mercer Cafe at the Navy Yard located at 15th Street and Kitty Hawk Avenue, next to the Dinic’s
location. (Building 623)

The brick-oven pizza will be available for
eat-in, takeout and delivery, in addition to Mercer‘s breakfast and
lunch fare. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday 7 AM – 4 PM Closed Weekends

starting at the families pizzeria, Tacconelli’s pizza, and then at
Mercer Cafe since 2000.

According to Michael Klein at Philly.com,
The project also is a homecoming for
co-owner Tom Woltjen Sr., who started in 1980 as a sheet metal mechanic
at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. In 1998, he and his brother Robert
converted a rowhouse at Westmoreland and Mercer Streets into Mercer
Cafe. His wife, Dina, is a Tacconelli.
