WHYY Celebrates The Ending of Downton Abbey with A Party for Longtime Fans Who Dressed for the Occassion

Tonight was the ending of the much beloved, long running series Downton Abbey. Not since the Beatles invasion in 1964, has America fallen in love with a group of Brits as they have with Crawley’s.

Earlier today I attended a party at WHYY’s “Going Out of Style – Downton Abbey” party,

where members of WHYY and guests enjoyed an afternoon of scone sampling, tea tasting with Molly’s Irish Cream. While parading about in their best Downton Abbey’s inspired garb.

Dakota Bryson, Tori Dallas and Victoria Jenkins

They also met fashion design students who brought their sketches of fashion inspired by the TV show, which were re-imagined for the 21st Century.

The guests then adjourned to the auditorim to listen to th sounds of The Blackbird Society Orchestra and listen to a lecture on fashion from the period from Jennifer Nesbitt, before we all settled in to watch the series finale.

Mary Ellen Volb and Jennette Lynch both cited the episode where Matthew proposed to Mary as their favorite one.
Robert Wickman and Sally Wickman, watched every episode together. There was no Downton adultery in their lives. that’s when one person watches an episode before the other gets a chance to see it. PS That happens a lot in my house.
Nancy Morales and Ann Rogers. Nancy custom made her outfit, and dyed her dress to match the color of the Crawley living room.

Patricia and Patrick Dillon, met in the UK when they were younger. There were celebrating Patricia’s birthday on Sunday, Patrick’s birthday last week and their upcoming wedding anniversary on March 23. Oh and did I mention they are looking forward to St. Patrick’s Day coming up next week. They adore Downton Abbey.
