Philadelphia Style Magazine “PAPARAZZI” at The ZEE Bar Party Pixs

Happy Friday. Let’s recap a few gossip stories I posted amongst my photos in both my Philly Mag and Philly.com columns. Heidi and Cole Hamels adopted a baby girl Reeve, on Christmas Eve. She joins tow older brothers. Jerry Blavet has dinner at Bridgid’s for the 2nd time in a week. Last week he went there with Darlene Love who performed in his annual concert at the Kimmel Center. My dad (OBGYN) delivered  Baltimore Ravens’ QB Joe Flacco, so thanks dad. Coming up next month the Philly Flower Show comes to town with the smell of spring. Celebrity guests stopping by include

3/7 5:30PM to 7:30PM A Meet & Greet with Sandra Lee and 3/9 – 2PM-4PM Meet & Greet with Ramona Singer – Free meet & Greet with purchase of a Flower Show Ticket. As always celebrity sightings can be found on the right margin at the bottom under “Celebrity Sightings.”

Last night Philadelphia Style Magazine with sponsor partner Russian Standard® Vodka held a party at Zee Bar. It wasn’t your typical PSM party with Philebrities and their entourage, it was a young, mostly never been photographed before crowd, who knew how to party and party hardy they did with an open bar of the myriad of specialty drinks.

There were lots of generous bottle service tables set up, with recipe cards of the drinks that were provided.

I love that COOL PIXS with Phil Andrews was there. Not only is he Philly TV legend, still on the air at WMCN44 (Did you see This Is It last nite at 7:30PM with Cheldin Barlatt Rumer?), but he operates COOL PIXS and loves his job. Look at that mug, as the guy on the left mugs.

Zee Bar is huge but has the oddest runway dance floor. One false step and you’d fall in a VIP bottle service persons lap

Chris Pinuzzo, is the new GM of Field House and Tim Adams. Tim is co-chair of this years HRC Tickets still available here.

Before you know it it was time to go. Katie English and Christie Honigman give a warm goodbye to Brian Taylor, who is always stylishly manning the door.

Todd Herremans and Brent Celek bar 879 No More – Now There’s a Restaurant in the Works

Sorry you Gorgeous fans, I will write up Sunday’s event tomorrow. Today I worked on a column in Philly.com on The 109th annual Philadelphia Sports Writers Awards Dinner, and now I have to run out for another gig.
********************************************************************************
Back in 2011 two of our favorite Philadelphia Eagles, Todd Herremans and Brent Celek were tired of going to other peoples bars and decided to open up one that fit their specifications which they called 879, (which is a combination of their jersey numbers) in 2010. I was there for their 2nd grand opening in 2012 (PhillyChitChat was there)

I ran into Todd Herremans with with his lovely lady Elizabeth Dee (wearing Helmut Lang,) last night at The 109th annual Philadelphia Sports Writers Awards Dinner, which was held at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill (He was honored with the “Good Guy Award” for his philanthropic deeds in his community in Michigan where he grew up (read all about it in my Philly.com column link below). He returns there in a few weeks, so look for some fun ice fishing tweets like last year.) It’s a new day as the bff’s (Todd & Brent) have closed 879. They plan on opening a restaurant in the same space in late Spring. Look for a bistro, which is a small restaurant serving moderately priced simple meals in a modest setting. As of last night Todd didn’t know what the name of the restaurant would be, and I vaguely remember chatting with Brent when they came up with the 879 name and the signage, so this time I’m suggesting:
Bistro 879
Their Twitter account remains active so look for updates here.

Oh I just love this photo of Heidi and Cole Hamels with Jimmy Rollins giving me a great shot. I have another fun one with Charlie Manuel & Ruban in it in my Philly.Com column today with news of the new baby that Heidi & Cole Hamels adopting a baby girl on Christmas Eve, Reeve. Keep checking the site til the column appears. Lots of fun stuff in there, especially about The Hamels. I spoke with Johari Rollins and she tells me that Jimmy is excited about going to Spring Training, but first he’s heading out on the road as he was selected for the Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.  Team USA will gather at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick complex
in Scottsdale, Ariz., on March 1 and open its leg of the tournament
against Mexico at Chase Field in Phoenix on March 8. Canada and Italy
are the other two teams in its bracket. The final is scheduled to be
played at San Francisco’s AT&T Park on March 19.

Kerry O’Connor, Pens & Lens  & The Weekly Press, wearing Bernie Parents 1974 Stanley Cup Champion Ring. Bernie said it was the first time in 40 years any one asked to wear it. Now let’s not start a trend. Wait, 40 years? Holy cow just about. Hi Maria Papadakis’ photo bombing the photo.

Devotion Nightclub (Formerly Shampoo) Grand Opening with SuperStar

The moment you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, folks: Devotion has opened and it’s Philadelphia’s newest dance club. For years you knew it as Shampoo, the cavernous, but music pumping dance hall which attracted folks from the tri-state area. I spent many a Friday night dancing the night away. Remember those crazy foam parties. Who ever thought that up? Of course it was really a ploy just to get everyone naked, and well it was fun for the most part, I think. I can’t remember.  Anyway those days are behind us and now as SuperStar  is a new monthly LGBT night The party, co-produced by Bruce Yelk, SuperStar will be similar to FriGay’s, Shampoo’s LGBT event.

Superstar hosts Noel Zayas and Bruce Yelk

Look for the new club to have new furniture, bar tops, finishes, and an updated projection system to make each of the parties promoted there something special.

PS I see that Devotion Vodka might have had an influence in the naming of the club, like I mentioned last night. As there was an hour open bar with Devotion Vodka. I say not a coincidence.

THE ACADEMY BALL IN PHOTOS & LINK TO MY PHILLY MAG COLUMN

Saturday night was a magical night, a memory I will cherish forever. I have some pretty terrific friends, and it was so nice to spend an enchanted evening with them. Here are a few cell phone pixs I took of the evening with a link to my column at PhillyMag at the end, or you can go see the shots now HERE>
Please LIKE the Page over at PhillyMag, everytime I check it out I silently say “YOU like me, You Really Like Me!” The stories on PhillyMag you won’t read anywhere else. The article took me about 12 hours to write so I hope you enjoy it. It’s always been the most beautiful event in the City, but to spend it with the people on this page really made it special. These peeps have my back. (Missing: Kristyn Aldrich and Maria Papadakis)

Marisa Magnatta, Vasiliki Tsiouris, Moi (I finally look like my caricature on PhillyMag), Christie Honigman and Katie English.

Teresa Nino – She wasnt in the room when we took the above shot.

Stunning: Jaclyn Foglietta and Jeffrey Flynn

One of the reasons these early shots are from my phone, is I forgot my memory card. As if Mike Toub wasn’t already the best Life Partner in the world, he had driven me to the AKA for the pre-pre party, was waiting outside and did me a huge favor and ran home to get my memory card. The part that makes him super special is he had to go in my cluttered office and figure out where I put them. Love that guy. (Hey can we get gay marriage in Pa soon, we really want to get married here and not in NY or NJ)
 Tania and Marc Schade
Lynsie Solomon and Evan Solomon

 Teresa Nino and Moi

Dana and Ron Donatucci

I’ve lost 10lbs in 20 days since I gave up sugar, candy, cookies, cakes & the bread basket. So don’t even offer me any. Thanks.

There’s a no photo rule after dinner is served, so I put my camera to bed and I danced the night away. Eddie Bruce and his band (CTO Artist) kept me on the dance floor for two hours straight. Thanks to Adrienne Simpson (r) for being an awesome partner, as well as Mrs Joan Spain, Renee Freeman and Tony Frick

As is with tradition we all headed over to the Union League for light snacks and recapping of the night. Oh what a beautiful night. But wait go check out my column in PhillyMag to see the who, what, when and wear of the evening. AND great stories, tidbits and an engagement.
Sorry I couldn’t get all of you in the column. But who knows where those photos might show up.
