My Favorite Signs from the Philly Women’s March

I ran into a lot of friends, and PhillyChitChat readers. Thanks for the love.
Ok seriously, this is my favorite

PhillyChitChatter: Celebs in Philly; Eagles Celebrations; Bradley Cooper, Bridget Foy Rebuilds

PhillyChitChatter: Celebs in Philly; Eagles Celebrations; Bradley Cooper, Bridget Foy Rebuilds

Good Thursday Morning, hope you were all able to settle down from the tremendous celebration of the the Eagles capturing the NFC Championship. It definitely took me a few days to float down to earth, but I am wearing my championship hat everyday and humming #FlyEaglesFly every day.

Minnesota’s Metro Transit made good on their friendly bet with SEPTA to change their “wallpaper” on their twitter account to feature a Philadelphia bus with the Eagles logo on it.

Aramark, who has the food contract at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota has unveiled new food items to be sold celebrating the taste-buds for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots match up #SuperBowl
http://www.startribune.com/bubble-waffles-revival-pork-belly-new-foods-at-u-s-bank-stadium-unveiled-ahead-of-super-bowl/470957103/

Speaking of Eagles,  6-5, 241-pound Philadelphia Eagles Defensive end Bryan Braman (2nd from left), LtoR Josh Bryan, Cindy Garnick, CEO of Garnick Entertainment and Media Group and Publicist Sean Stellato agent to both Eagle and Patriots! Braman spent the day clothes shopping stopping at Mitchell & Ness, getting a custom suit from Distante Clothing and then heading for lunch with his friends. The next day Braman appeared on WMCN in Cherry Hill, NJ with team mate Billy Brown. The duo chatted about healthy eating with Eraldo Maglara, Celebrity Fitness Trainer, Author (The Real Fountain of Youth ) and TV Host of Healthy Lifestyle With Eraldo and the upcoming Super Bowl on February 4.

Philly’s Bradley Cooper was spotted playing with his baby Lea de Seine on Sunset Beach just south of Los Angeles Tuesday wearing his favorite teams jersey, as the heartthrobs girlfriend Irina Shayk looked on. (TMZ)

Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan, and several former NFL players – Curt Menefee, Jimmy Johnson, Howie Long and Terry Bradshaw headed to South Philly last week for a Philly Cheesesteak. They were also spotted at DelFrisco’s as well as the Ritz Carlton’s lounge as well as dining at Aqimero

Actor Josh Duhamel‏ was spotted at the Ritz Carlton and posed for a photo with Kimmie Ragone.
Who says those Eagles fans were anything but nice to those Viking fans.

Bridget Foy’s was gutted by a fire October 25, 2017, devastating now only the Foy’s but the community that loves them. There was an amazing outpouring from the community, and regulars to the iconic South Street eatery. Today they put this rendering of the new place up on their FB page. Sadly the original building wasn’t able to be saved, but the new building looks remarkably the same, but better. Look at those awesome big windows on the first floor. When I spoke with Bridget Foy late last year, she told me the kitchen now be located in the basement, and the space on the right side where the kitchen used to be, will be used for more outdoor seating. It’s just a matter of time before our favorite spot, and Alex Holley’s favorite Easter parade viewing spot is open again.

Speaking of heartthrobs, Phillies World Series Champ Cole Hamels and his wife, country songwriter Heidi Hamels were at last nights Sixers game. Congrats to the Sixers who won the game over the Chicago Bulls. Thanks to Cindy Webster, PR for CBS Radio for capturing the moment.

What a great tail gate party on Sunday with Cindy Webster, CBS Philly. Ray Pennacchia, Senior Vice President at NovaCare, Rhea Hughes, CBS Philly and Ted Simon, Esq, with photo bomber Mayor Jim Kenney

Last Friday boxer Bernard Hopkins stopped by Ted Simon, Esq office to sign boxing gloves, which will be donated to a charity raising money for an elementary school
Many of my friends, including Dr. Thanuja Hamilton, caught Rufus Wainwright at the Kimmel Center where he performed with the Philly Pops. The next morning she headed to a family wedding in DC and ran into the vocalist, composer, and songwriter who was headed to his next gig in Virgina.

For more PhillyChitChatter come back on Sunday. In the meantime tomorrow I’ll be posting Best Dressed Photos from Hair of the Dog held last Saturday night.

Eagles Fans Get Lit on Broad Street Celebrating The NFC Win

Eagles Fans Get Lit on Broad Street Celebrating The NFC Win

We are not done yet celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles won on Sunday night against the Vikings to capture the NFC Championship Game. I placed a lot of photos from the celebratory night in outlets, with links to them at the bottom. In the meantime here are a few more.

I ran into my sister’s friend at The Blue Duck on Broad

It was a fantastic party

Dude seriously if you didn’t want to be in the photo with these guys you could have said no, or maybe you just wanted to see if I’d publish it. You must not know me, I photographed celebrities in NYC for 5 years. These were the money shots!!

I had a great time at McGillin’s as well, but the best party, the one not to miss happens at Tavern on Broad. So much fun, people are really nice,

the booze is reasonable and when we win the Super Bowl, you just roll out the door and there’s Broad Street.

I need this suit, does it come in a 3x large. I went to buy a T Shirt, and they do not.
I got a hat.
I like a guy that brings his own boom box and crowd
Fireworks and girl on a light pole. See her on left hanging on for dear life?
I was standing next to Drew Smith, NBC10 while the largest toilet paper stream floated down from who knows where. I think we all want to know what brand that is
A beginning of a wonderful mummy
I learned a new word, these two kept yelling – take a photo of us, we’re Yunks!! Eventually they explained they were from Manayunk

He came prepared
WHY Can’t we be Friends, Why Can’t We Be Friends…. We can!!
Jenny from the block, or as I like to call her my editor from Metro Philly
crowds were just streaming up Broad Street towards City Hall
OH I see he has an Eagles head
Mike and Renee are HAPPY
Broad Street is LIT!! as Jeniece Armstrong wrote on one of my posts Sunday night.

WAWA was packed, in 2008 this was the site of Robinson Luggage, and it didn’t fare as well

What an amazing celebration, there was no trouble as the crowd partied in the street from 930ish til a bit after 130 when the police
announced for people to please go home. They did, and the next day the street was clean and open for business.

Check out these sites to see if I caught you in the act of joy

17 Favorite Photos of 2017 From Hot PA Guy to Carson Wentz

I like to post the best of 2017 photos in 2018, when more of you are at your desk. Here goes….

Wentz
Hot Production Assistant Guy on M Night Shyamalan’s movie Glass. The photo went VIRAL and his story was picked up by the Metro, who even did a Q&A with him. His now in Atlanta, assisting on another movie making hearts flutter.

Sunday another hot guy I made famous, is getting married. Geoff Pierce met his future wife Samantha Keenan, in directly from my write up, they tell me.

weeks March 3 – March 11

The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention Gala 2017, this year they’re honoring Eddie Tully. Tickets on sale now.

Jenna Communications had a clever hook to promote The Plaza Grande Showcases the Revitalization of the Historical Garden State Park Racetrack in a Media Tour. They brought in a former horse jockey who rode at Garden State Park, to chat about the good old days. He rode a horse in the “dog park” on the new site, which used to be where the stables were. It was great visuals and made for some interesting stories while still promoting the 55plus housing.
Lynsie and Evan Solomon’s wedding in Anguila. Great time. Sad face this restaurant was destroyed in hurricane Irma.
Event of the year – Marian Anderson Award with legends Dionne Warwick, Kenny Gamble and Clive Davis.

The wedding of Chris Konopka and Maria Papadakis
Erica Lee and Rodney McLeod Jr. at Zarwin Baum’s March Madness

Ron Harper, Elaine I. Grobman and Frank Giordano at The Pink Tie Ball

Trish Gohl, founder of No Dog Gets Left Behind with a dog that will be paired with a veteran.
Snow, it was beautiful, and very unusual to happen in December. Now I am ready for Spring. I was in Florida this past week
so hopefully when I return home to Philly tonight it won’t be anything like this.
Loved this Safian & Rudolph engagement contest, as well as their & Bench

Thank you M Night for having me as one of your house photographers for Shyamaween 2017 what a dream come true. Here’s a story I did on CBSPhilly as well as the photos at the bottom of article.

2017: Best Party of the Year Was…..

There were a lot of great parties in 2017, but the 2017: Best Party of the Year WAS Philly Chit Chat celebrates 10 Years 2007 – 2017/ The party was held at Aqimero by Richard Sandoval at the Ritz – Carlton(THANKS).  I tried to keep the number reasonably, and the party not super crowded, something under 275; which we got to fairly quickly as nearly everyone on the initial list said yes, so there was no wiggle room. It was stressful cause I forgot  a dozen or so people who were important in my 10 years, and I tried to add a few as I went along.

YearMetro Philly

Which by the way is how the invite list was created. Friends, family and more than 200 people that I had been photographing for more than 6 years. Many of those people let me into their lives, and chronicle it. A decade ago, even 5 years ago, there was as many events as there are today. In the beginning of PhillyChitChat I covered a lot of Friday bar nights, Saturday birthday parties, trolling restaurants, bars and relying on tipsters and businesses to fill me in on where the celebrities were so I could go and wait outside their establishments for a good shot.

January Galas: Academy Ball and Hair of the Dog Dress Suggestions

There are two big galas coming up in the next 2 week. The Hair of the Dog affectionately known as HOD is January 20 and the Academy of Music 161st Anniversary Concert and Ball on January 27. People always ask me what should they wear when they attend these galas. I have a few examples from my “Best Dressed List” of both parties last year. (Need a Tux or White Tie, head to MenWearhouse on 1600 block Chestnut Street. For you guys going to Academy, we have a group number set up. Anyone will do, but if Will Speed is there, ask for him. -Ad)
First up is the Academy Ball.

The Academy Ball is a White Tie Gala. The most gallant, and strictest in criteria for dress.

For women it means formal, floor length evening gown, best jewels and often women will wear gloves. For men it’s black tail coat (not a white one like I originally thought the first time I went, opps) matching pants with a single satin or braid stripe, a white wing collar shirt, a white vest or white pique’ waist coat, studs and a white bow tie. Black shoes.

Not the correct bow tie or vest Mr Short

Gorgeous
Perfect

This duo is always on my best dressed list at a lot of parties,
but in this case his shoes may not be appropriate for a White Tie Gala

*********************************

Hair of the Dog is a Black Tie event

Formal evening gown or dress, or dressy cocktail dress. Males: Black tuxedo jacket, matching trousers, formal (pleated front or pique’) white shirt, black (silk, satin) bow tie, black cummerbund to match tie, optional suspenders, black patent shoes, black dress socks.

Jen Sherlock’s gown is perfect for either gala, although too much of a “nude” panel would not be acceptable at Academy Ball, while Jen’s friend cute cocktail dress is perfect for HOD

Vivian’s gown is perfect for HOD, and would be ok for the Academy Ball.
It’s gorgeous!!

These dresses are perfect for the HOD

Definitely adorable for HOD

Gorgeous gown, but the Academy Ball frowns on too much breast, where at HOD we celebrate it.
Hopefully these examples will give you an idea of what is appropriate for each event.

LOVE PARK Returns – Here’s What I Know So Far…

LOVE PARK Returns – Here’s What I Know So Far…

Welcome to the Sunday edition of PhillyChit Chatter, read it here every Sunday and Thursday – it’s a little fun gossip, info and what’s going on around town. The last time I was at Love Park was during the Christmas Village.

LOVE
The park was still under construction, but despite a few hiccups the market thrived and was packed everyday. Hope you got one of those Wisconsin cheese sandwiches. If you looked closely you could see the hint of greatness with the new paving blocks, quite different than the flagstone used before Love Park was renovated.

construction continued.

One of the sections of the park completed was this lawn. See those two evergreen trees, next year the City won’t need to buy a Christmas Tree for Love Park they can just decorate them.

I was really excited to see what Love Park looked like after the village cabins were removed, but then it snowed. Finally Friday it rained and melted the snow revealing the beautiful park (I’m off to Florida this week so I didn’t have time to get sunny shots as I would have liked as time was getting short.)  The land is cleaned and leveled. I can’t wait to see the centerpiece fountain turned on as well as the “arch” ones, which are smaller ones located in the “horseshoe” design you see here; giving Dilworth Park a run for it’s money with kids cooling off.

One thing we hope you won’t see is skateboarders, although some have been spotted testing out the park, I hear soon there will be security 24/7 keeping the park safe, clean and friendly for pedestrians, while also directing the skateboarders to the lovely park built for them closer to the Art Museum – Franklin’s Skate Park

Love
I love the steps that line the north side of the park, which have corrugated pavers making it quite a bumpy ride for skateboarding.

Also new at Love Park, is the InterPark garage ie Love Park Garage at 1501 John F Kennedy Blvd has been updated with a glass cube, sorta like the Apple Cube in NYC on 57th Street, or the glass cube on top of the Phila Art Museum parking garage. It’s much more attractive, bright, easier to pay and convenient to reach your parked car now. No more climbing down the dingy steps.

Next to the garage is the decomposed granite (DG) park, there will be a lot of seating arrangements in this area. DG is an ideal hardscape material: natural, permeable, aesthetically versatile, and

often used as transition material to introduce landscaping and wild gardens.

Don’t judge the emptiness of Love Park today, as the furnishings all arrived, nor been placed. These pieces are examples of some
of the furnishing to expect.

The sight-lines are magnificent for people watching.
I imagine events will be held in the newly designed space, as they are at Dilworth Park.

The saucer building is being renovated for an eatery, not a welcome center as previously thought. I hear that they haven’t picked a food vendor yet and will  be doing an RFP soon.
When I mentioned it to Jennifer Logue, Metro Philly Saturday night, she thought it be perfect to call it the Love Cafe, maybe Stephen Starr could have it as an outpost for his new Love eatery in Rittenhouse Sq., I like it!!

I’m so excited, as the City is as well, that we’re going to have another beautiful park.

The sculpture of LOVE, newly painted red, and purple on it’s underside, returns to a new pedestal  just days before Valentine’s Day in February; just in time for all those engagements to happen. XOXOXO

Friday Chit Chat: The New Comcast/Four Seasons Building/NBC Studios

Friday Chit Chat: What I Know About The New Comcast/Four Seasons Building

The very exciting new Comcast Technology Center is nearly complete, adding another exciting building to the skyline.

Seasons
Early in December officials from both the Four Seasons hotel and Developer Liberty Property Trust came to my condo building to give us the lowdown on the new structure. I didn’t have time to write it until today.

Seasons

According to the Comcast website: The $1.5 billion 60-story, 1,121-foot tower will neighbor Comcast Center, Comcast Corporation’s global headquarters, and become a dedicated home for the company’s growing workforce of technologists, engineers, and software architects. The facility will also create a media center in the heart of the City by becoming home to the operations of local broadcast television stations NBC 10/WCAU and Telemundo 62/WWSI and offer space for local technology startups.  At the top of the new building will be a Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center Rooms: 217 (38 suites). Total square footage of hotel: 263,000. Hotel floors 48th to 60th: Guest rooms: 48th-56th.

Seasons
I’ve been kinda obsessed with what I’ve dubbed the ladder in the sky, cause without it’s skin (facade) it looks like a steel ladder. The lantern adds the additional footage to make the building the tallest in Philadelphia. It’s official building name is “Lantern”. The Lantern is actually the chimney for the building, it’s where the exhaust from the HVAC system will be venting. The HVAC system, ie cooling and heating, is housed in the lower part of the Lantern. So if you ever see smoke from from the Lantern, know it’s really a chimney. It’s a pretty impressive design.

The front door for the Comcast Technology Center will be on 18th Street, closest to Arch Street. It’s across the street from the side entrance of the Comcast building. There will be a walkway connecting the two buildings, as well as an underground tunnel which I will get to in a moment.

The representative from Liberty Trust said there were also upgrades made to the Arch Street Church which is located along the the walkway. For the first time ever the Arch Street Church will have a door that opens into the newly landscaped plaza.

The entrance to the Four Seasons is at 19th and Arch Streets, is a mirror image to the Comcast Technology Center entrance. The lower level of the Four Seasons will house two restaurants and a cafe, with cafe tables along Arch Street. There are two ballrooms as well. I am really surprised that one of them wasn’t located on a higher floor for maximum wow factor for wedding and events.

To get to the upper floors guests will take express GLASS elevators, those with vertigo may have a bit of a hesitation, but imagine the video selfies as you speed to floor 57 and up.

The very top floor of the Four Season’s will house two premiere restaurants in Philadelphia, the only ones with the most amazing, unobstructed views of the Delaware Valley, up to 25 miles away.

Here’s a Instagram photo from a construction worker of the view from the 60th floor. In the foreground is Rittenhouse Sq.

Here is a cross section of the first several floors of the Comcast Technology Center building. The right side is the “entrance” to the Comcast part of the building. The lobby will be open to the public and soars several floors high. This is also the entrance for the workers at Comcast. The far left side is the Four Seasons lobby. You can see there’s a parking garage below, but it’s not a public garage as the space is limited.

Here’s a sculpture that is being installed in the lobby of the Comcast Technology Center by Conrad Shawcross

There will be nearly 50 bike racks for workers, and there’s shower facilities for the workers who want to freshen up before work. Interesting there is not a door between the Four Seasons lobby and the public space of the new Technology Center.

On the floor above the garage is a tunnel that takes you from the Technology Center to the new Comcast building, and Market Place Food Court, and then connect you with the SEPTA Concourse at Suburban Station. In essence I think you can walk underground from 19th & Arch Street all the way to 13th and Market, and eventually when the the Fashion Outlets open, to 8th and Market Streets, as well to Broad and Spruce and 13th & Locust (This came in hand for me when I was a paralegal at 11th & Market and I needed to get home at 12th & Locust). Pretty cool. (this was a terrible photo I took from my IPhone at the chat with Comcast folks.)

The loading dock is located on Cuthbert Street

One of the construction workers instagramed a shot of the new NBC10 Studios. BTW years ago I rumored about the whole project, someone had tipped me off all the way down to the NBC studios moving to the building, which I wrote about in 2013 It’s been fun watching it come to fruition.
The Four Seasons Hotel is on schedule to open in the Fall. The Technology Center a little before that time.
I can’t wait….here are a few outlets with more in-depth articles on the building. Some of the pixs came from these sources, Instagram, my bad old phone and the Comcast site.
15 things to expect when Comcast Technology Center opens this year
