Christmas Village Is Back, Now at City Hall with a Carousel in Courtyard

in

Christmas Village presented by NRG has returned to Philadelphia for the 2016 holiday season at an exciting new location CITY HALL!

11-20-2016-10-12-27-pm-custom

(Top of page is North)

Philadelphia’s largest holiday attraction will this year transform Philadelphia’s City Hall (1400 JFK Blvd.) into a traditional, open-air German Christmas Market, open daily between Thursday, November 24, 2016 and Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24, 2016. PLUS TODAY on Black Friday, November 25, Christmas Village in Philadelphia invites you to head out of the office and skip the malls for a special free lunch concert from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. This year, the German Christmas market welcomes local favorite singer and songwriter Jennifer Logue on stage.

in

All of your favorite shops are back

in

As well as those cute little mugs for your wine

in

Daily market hours are Friday through Saturday 11:00am to 8:00pm, and Sunday through Thursday 11:00am to 7:00pm. Thanksgiving Day hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Black Friday hours are 9:00am to 8:00pm and Christmas Eve hours are 11:00am to 5:00pm.

in

Christmas Village in Philadelphia’s Grand Opening Ceremony is Sunday this year (Sunday, November 27) from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Invite your family and friends to come sing along to holiday selections by the Camden Catholic High School Band and Clearview Regional High School Choir. Meet the original Christkind from Nuremberg after she officially opens the market by reciting her traditional prologue. Take photos with her as she does her traditional walk of the market. In Germany, she is the person that brings the Christmas gifts to the kids, and she won’t be coming to the City of Brotherly Love empty handed! With our new location at City Hall this year, watch for a special surprise during the Opening Ceremony!

Then next Saturday, after the jolly one arrives on Thanksgiving, The City lights their tree. I know firsthand Mayor Jim Kenney is excited. Last year he told me he’d be moving the tree out from the City Hall Courtyard and out to Dilworth Park, cause the Tree is the People’s Tree and everyone should be able to see it. On Thursday, Mayor Kenney placed the first ornament on the tree.

2015 Philadelphia AFSP Gala Honoring HughE Dillon – All My Best Friends In One Room

Philadelphia AFSP Gala Honoring HughE Dillon – Suicide Prevention Gala

Oh talk about time getting away from me, always during this period, the height of Philly Social Season, I get behind. Some events I put on the back burner promising to publish as soon as I have a moment. This was one of them. The photos ran in Philly Style Mag and Philly Mag, but I always wanted a minute to run more. To thank my friends for coming out and supporting me as I was honored by the The Philadelphia Chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention last November 14. (This year’s gala is 1/7/17 TICKETS/INFO Here)

AFSP

The Philadelphia Chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is proud to honor global speaker and mental health advocate Kevin Hines with its 2017 Lifesaver of the Year Award.  Hines has canvassed the state of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Region spreading the message of hope and sharing his arr of living mentally well.  He is one of the most respected and admired voices of lived experience.  In the summer of 2013, Kevin released his bestselling memoir titled Cracked Not Broken, Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt.  His story is a remarkable testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder for us to the love the life we have.

Thanks to Katie Griffin on this video. It played at the event, but I never made it public because it’s painful to watch. Plus OMG that chin I have. Anyway, the takeaway is
we all matter. Love yourself and make a difference. How do you do that, know you matter, even if you’re in emotional pain. Get help, reach out and volunteer. What I didn’t mention in the video is after I got sober (loving myself), I volunteered for many different organizations. It’s great to have a purpose, and to make a difference. Get Out of the House, and you’ll get out of your mind. (Stinking thinking we do alone can kill us.) http://katiegriffincasting.com/

The 3rd Annual Zarwin Baum FASHION TOUCHDOWN – Eagles Players Take On the Catwalk

Good Sunday morning. Earlier this week I attended Zarwin Baum Fashion Touchdown. Titled that because it was an event created by Zarwin Baum, a Center City lawfirm client of mine; and conceptualized by Stacey Kracher. The first event happened at Boyds with

Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley as co-hosts, which they have done every year since. Vie came next, great venue, delicious food and this year it was held at The Ben Franklin Ballroom at 9th and Chestnut Street. Lately the BFB has been a hotspot for events with Finely Caterer’s handling the food. This year the fashion were curated by Nicole Miller featuring her Fall 2016 Fashion line and the proceeds benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region.
