Timberlake, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce, Stomp the Yard, Step Up 2: The
Streets, So You Think You Can Dance, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros, Dancing

The rooms have gotten a makeover mural.

LAST NIGHT’S PARTIES: Zarwin Baum & Citrin Cooperman Celebrity Casino Night & Funky Bresta

Hope you caught my earlier entry about the opening of Century 21. Long story short, with an important lesson, I went hiking in August. My legs got scratch walking through Tinicum Park trying to photograph a few birds. The briar cut me, but I thought I had poison ivy. I later got an infection, but thought I was too busy to take care of it as it was the Social Season. Last week I got a high fever, I thought I had the flu, it turns out it was my infection going to the next level. Went to the doctors and they freaked out, sent me to the ER (UofP) where they had me wait for 7hrs before they saw me. That was annoying. So I am doing heavy antibiotics, and bed rest or they want me in the hospital for a 4 day antibiotic drip. So I don’t want that. Thanks so much to my sister Janine for contacting my clients, for arranging other photographers to take the jobs I was going to shoot. That was a herculean feat. Thanks to Mike Hirata for shooting about 6 events I was schedule to shoot, and Christie Honigman for shooting the two events last night.

Last night Thursday, October 23, 2014, Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy P.C. joined Citrin Cooperman in hosting  (Larry Giuffra is concentrating on the win.)
the 3rd
Annual Celebrity Casino Night, benefiting
Easter Seals of Southeastern Pennsylvania, at the Crystal Tea Room. In it’s 2nd year at the CTR, collectively in years 1 and 2, the event has raised $38,000 ($15K in 2012 and $23K in 2013) . This year’s event netted $30,000 – which means we topped last
year’s efforts by $7,000!

Sharon Kaplan, and Mitchell Kaplan, Zarwin Baum
“Zarwin Baum is proud to partner with Citrin Cooperman again this year for Celebrity Casino Night,” said Zarwin
Baum managing shareholder, Mitchell Kaplan. “Every day, Easter Seals
shows its commitment to helping individuals with special needs. As both
our firm and Citrin Cooperman consistently think outside the box in
creating charitable events that support our region’s greatest
organizations, Casino Night gives countless others the chance to do the
same.”

Molly was on hand at the unveiling if the new Sixers cheerleading squad’s appearance dresses designed by Nicole Miller at the Bellevue on Wednesday. Mary K. Dougherty, owner of Nicole Miller Philadelphia, with a Sixers jersey which was presented to her.

 Stacey Kracher and Billy Nigro
Mark Carrow, Citrin Cooperman, Darwin R. Beauvais – Zarwin Baum , Gervase Peterson, Owner – Burnz Cigar Vault & Lounge, and Mike Jerrick, Fox 29’s Good Day Philly.

“We
feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to support an extraordinary
organization like Easter Seals of Southeastern PA,” said
Mark Carrow,
managing partner of Citrin Cooperman’s Philadelphia office. “By
partnering with Zarwin Baum, we are able to
assist this great organization as they work to guarantee equal
opportunities for all people with disabilities and special needs in our
area.”

Then PhillyChitChat’s newest photographer headed over to Penn 6 where they were celebrating Halloween with
 Funky Brusta Night.
 Tim Adams holding court.
The place was packed. The curse is broken, I don’t want to jinx the place, but Penn 6 is doing awesome compared to the other eateries that set up shop here.
Penn 6 has an extensive craft beer selection. Opening this week is their sister bar/restaurant Tap House Logan Square. I’ve seen the nearly open eatery and it’s gorgeous.

The other big party of the night was Philadelphia Magazine’s Whiskey Fest. I think it was the first time in 5 years that I missed it.
We’ll have more on this party as PCC photog Mike Hirata was on hand to photograph the Woodford Whiskey Contest and the rest of the party goers at Philly Mag’s annual event. Stay tune for that next week. Have an awesome weekend, get out and enjoy this weather. Put the top down and check out the fall foliage.

Century 21 Grand Opening Photos – Via Instagram – How bout that Champagne Gal?

OMG as timing would have it I was at the U of P emergency room taking care of the infection in my leg I have been complaining about for a few weeks now. Hopefully I’m on the mend now, I am on bed rest with my elevated leg for about 5 days (but I’ve hired photographers to cover the 8 events I couldn’t.) Seems I wasn’t supposed to be working or standing for more than 3 hrs a day the last time I went through this, last week.

So I’m missing some fabulous parties, ones I looked forward to for nearly 7 months, like the Century 21 store opening.

You’ll recall you read it here first over two years ago when I said the Gallery/Preit was looking to make the Gallery Mall more upscale. You laughed at me, you didn’t believe that a change would be coming. Well no one is laughing anymore, Century 21 has opened up and brought a little Manhattan to the dare I say it, Sixth Borough.

Soon Bloomies may follow. I hear they no longer want to be where Burlington
Coat Factory is (cause they weren’t allowed to tear it down and
rebuild), instead I hear they are planning to build a completely new
store behind the Gallery, tentatively at 10th and Race. I recently went by to scout a location and I do see someone dug a hole there, a big hole.

Love this champagne dress. So clever.
Back to the Century 21 opening. I loved this “Royal Flush” mob where host Sabir Peele picked out a group of stylish men of Philly and they wore red accessories wheter it was a tie, pocket square, scarf etc.
Sad to miss friends Kristy Sevag, Justin Pizzi and Kristin Detterline.

Philly’s Photographer’s were on hand to represent Al For and Big Rube Harley.

Sorry I missed Dallas Shaw, I heard she created a signature tote bag for the occasion.
Josh Middleton from G Philly and Ticket at Philly Mag

Cashman & Associates did a killer job at getting the word out about Century 21. Between social media, choosing fashion influencers to travel to the NYC store to get a feel about the product,
to  engagements with the general public through pop up shops,
it was an impressive campaign.
Influencers: Leah Kaufman and Ian M Crumm
Frugal Philly Mom says look this book is 2/3 off.
I’ve been thinking of starting something new here on PhillyChitChat on Friday’s. Fashion Friday’s. I’ll feature something fashionable whether it’s street style, fun stylish items and an occasional interview with a person. Something I never really did, but people always ask me to do them or they ask me about people who appear on these pages. I will also feature who someone who I think wore it well, and that someone this week is

We wear purple beads to say we are a survivor and we are glad to be here.

I read today of another young person who took their life, I went to their FB page and I saw the out pouring of love and shock from their friends. I wonder are we doing enough out there to tell people, kids, the depressed, that they are loved, they are wanted, they will be missed if they leave us.

On October 5th, nearly 5,000 people walked in the memory of their loved ones who left us too soon, nearly 10 percent of them walked in honor of themselves, survivors of the negative message some of us allow to seep into our souls and cause us to think the world is a better place without us.

There was a group of Penn Students there walking for all their college peers who have committed suicide over the past few years, notably Madison Holleran who killed herself nearly a year ago by jumping off of the parking garage at 15th and Spruce.

Participants were able to grab a pin and write their loved ones name on it and wear it proudly.

There was a beading station where folks could create bracelets with their loved ones name on it.
We wear beads to represent who has died, a parent, sibling, loved one or friend. We wear purple beads to say we are a survivor and we are glad to be here.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is pleased to honor AFSP
Regional Director Patricia Gainey (below left) and AFSP Supporter Craig Robinson with

Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM (PST)

King of Prussia, PA

A young man talked of his struggles and how he is winning at life today.
They walk in the honor of veterans, who put their lives on the line for our freedom.
5,000 strong, from every walk of life, to tell you they care.

Catherine Siciliano (AFSP) with team leaders tell the participants who they are walking for…
the stories that will break your heart
and stories that will encourage you to go on.
In the first year 25 people came to the walk, mid point they were at a thousand, now suicide awareness is out of the closet and we walk 5,000 strong.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Philadelphia Chapter has done an amazing job to get the word out, but there biggest asset was bringing Garden Wellington on board as PR. Tragically Garden has been touched by suicide as her brother took his life a few years ago. She passionately got behind the AFSP and has been able to raise it’s profile to the point where the national board gave Philadelphia the prestigious Overnight Walk this past summer, where nearly 3,000 people came from around the world to walk 17 miles in 17 hours.

quare 1682 is celebrating its fifth anniversary this Sunday, October 12, with a culinary block party along Sansom Street. But this isn’t just a party. It’s also a heated competition.
The Great Philly Cheesesteak Challenge is a delicious way for
some of Philly’s best culinary minds to showcase their rendition of a
city classic, the cheesesteak. Chefs from Rex 1516, Barren Hill Tavern, Bainbridge Street Barrel House, Devil’s Den, Circles Contemporary Thai, and more will throwdown and whip up some great steaks wit and witout.
And of course you’ll need something to help wash down all those
cheesesteaks. Lucky for you, a cocktail competition has been added to
the celebration this year. Bartenders from a.kitchen + bar, Crow and the Pitcher, Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co., 1 Tippling Place, Oyster House and Red Owl Tavern
will compete for both the judges’ love and yours. Sample them all, and
vote for the people’s choice award. There will also be beer by Victory Brewing Co. and samples from local distiller, Manatawny Still Works.

left-leaning ice-cream company Ben and Jerry’s has refused to rename
its “Hazed and Confused” hazelnut ice-cream flavor despite cries from
activists that it’s insensitive to hazing victims.

Tina Fey Stops By The Betsy Ross House sans Make Up and Gladly Poses for a Picture

On Monday, Tina Fey did the tourist in my hometown thing and stopped by the Betsy Ross House.

She was accompanied by a friend and two young kids. The mommies chatted while the kids shared an audio tour on the history of Betsy Ross and the flag. They visited the house for over 2 hours, and came unannounced. At first the folks working thought the Upper Darby, PA born actress was Sarah Palin, a character she’d performed on SNL from September to November 2008, in a series of parodies of Republican vice-presidential candidate, but after a bit they were squealing in delight when they realized it was Tina Fey.  Other famous peeps who have stopped by the seamstress’ house include former  Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov

Pixs & Ticket Giveaway: Inis Nua Theatre’s production of Ciphers

I love theater, I love the vibe of the Philadelphia theater scene, the actors, the creativity and the accessibility. The Inis Nua Theatre’s production of Cipers (which has played off Broadway) enters it’s 2nd week of production bringing a compelling spy thriller to the stage.

Justine is an undercover agent caught up in one too many double-crossing
games. This spy thriller uses lies, surveillance and subterfuge to
explore one woman’s obsession with her identity. Ciphers draws a
straight line from today’s terrorist headlines to our age-old struggle
to know who we really are.
