Ian Michael Crumm wants you to Shop Like A Local

Earlier this month Palomar Hotel launched their “Shop Like A Local Guide” at the stylish hotel in Center City.
They chose 4 stylish Philadelphian’s and each one created their lookbook (A lookbook is a collection of photographs compiled to show off a model, a photographer, a style, or stylist or a clothing line.)

It won’t come as a surprise that they chose men’s fashionista columnist Ian Michael Crum to create just the perfect lookbook connecting tourist to the hippest, happening stores in our area. (his suit is from Les Richard’s at Shops of Liberty Place at 16th & Chestnut Street.)
Many of Philly’s stylish folks came out to wish him well at the launch including Sara Kelly and Courtney Lapresi (who is appearing right now on Season Five of Fox’s MasterChec with Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot.)
Jacky Wright and Cassandra Wright (she recently launched Chosen, her apparel line.)
This cocktail Spodee seems to have blasted onto the social scene lately.
Linda Stewart ie Ian’s Glammie and Mom – Angie Hartman
Sheryl Raskin and Anthony Allen
Chandra Robbins and Matt Nadu (stylish himself, bringing the vest back in sans coat.)
Cori Moskow, Ilana Waber, guest and Randyl Case styling the crop top, which seems to be the hottest trend this season. As the summer wears on versions of this appear throughout Center City, but it has nothing to do with this hot style trend.
Evan and Lynsie Solomon and Rachel and Jason Cevera
Danielle Hankin and Alexander Hankin
Janice Waitkus, community relations at Lagos (Lagos was the hot jewelry Ian picked for the lookbook,) and Laura Burkhardt, Where Magazine. They just had their “Guest Book 2014” launch and I’ll be writing about that later this week.
Have you tried new Spring Menu, Lancaster Duck Confit, Dipping Trio, my favorite Brandywine River Texas Longhorn Burger and great wines.

Matthew Ray, Chatterblast and Michele Conron, Cashman & Associates
Bacon wrapped dates.
Check out the new LOOKBOOK here with Ian M Crumm’s favorite things….

Russell Simmons was in town to Chat ADD52 Chat w/QDeezy & do some YOGA

I used to run into Music mogul and longtime yogi, Russelll Simmons in NYC. He was always super nice, regular guy and friendly. We got to know each other on a first name basis as he lived near me and I saw him walking on the street a lot. NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MY WHIRLWIND VISIT

Over the weekend Mike Toub (hubby), Kory Aversa (bff) and I headed to NYC on an invite from Tony Luke, Jr to attend the premiere screening of his new Spike TV show “FrankenFood”

at TAO downtown. We got to enjoy some of the food that was going to appear on the show and it was delicious.

Mike, Robin Austin and Tony Bruno at Tao

Dr. Dan PIccillo and Alyssa Piccillo

 Michelle and
Kelley Gaglioti, co-owner of Joseph Anthony Salon

Tony Luke Jr, guest and Josh Capon

 Maria and Tony Luke Jr.
#frankenfood check it out bringing the fun back in food shows!!! @spiketv @frankenfood starts june 22nd 10pm

The next day I had my national debut on Good Morning America (I look like a drowned rat.) That’s Kory on the left with the teal phone taking a photo.
Then they swing the desk around and it looks like they’re filming from the 2nd floor. If you look closely on the left you can see it’s really the first floor as there are umbrellas there.
This week Philly’s favorite weather team duo are taking New York, yes 6ABC’s Cecily Tynan and Adam Joseph’s are doing the weather this week on “Good Morning America”. Cecily is there Monday thru Wed, Adam Thursday and Friday.  I shot Cecily on Monday morning doing a hit in the pouring rain, but looking flawless.
Celeb watching tip: The studio for Good Morning America. On the far right is the window where we look into the studio, and where the personalities come out and do their spots. One the left where the maroon umbrella is, is the stage door where you can see the talent arrive and depart. If you want to meet them just stand near the door. Most stop to take selfies, sign autographs or at least wave.

A nice dry spot to look at Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda

The weather was wicked in the morning, but I saw a lot of beauty around me.

When we went to pick up our car at Myers Parking Garage, they told us they lost our car. That was the most bizarre thing to happen to moi. After about 30 minutes they found it after Mike gave them our extra key so they could go through the 7 story garage and chirp the car. I married the right guy.

Much nicer later when we were leaving town.

We stopped at Magnolia Bakery, made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker and friends in Sex and the City. When I first moved to NYC 8 years ago, I had to try the cupcakes made famous on the show. They were terrible.

Kory Aversa saw the shop and was so excited to try a cupcake. I felt validated when he finished and said “That was the worst cupcake I ever had.” It just goes to show you how influential good PR is.

2014 Philadelphia Dyke March

Since 1998, the Philly Dyke March has been an opportunity for self-identified dykes to gather, march and rally.

Gloria Casarez is Mayor Nutter’s liaison to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities and was the Grand Marshall of the GLBT Pride Parade on Sunday.
Sit back and enjoy the love of these ladies.

 and their supporters.
 Including Rep Brian Sims

 Samantha Giusti and Amber Hikes
(Check out Amber on the Career Wardrobe catwalk later today in my PhillyMag column)

John C. Anderson Apartments residents see their first Dyke March. What a great year Philly’s GLBT have had. I remember when it wasn’t so great, when Rizzo and his gang were shaking down the gay bars. It was a scary time.

Message from the bride >>>
skgally This
was truly amazing! I’m so glad our paths crossed- it’s amazing that the
federal government has finally lifted the ban on same sex marriage in
our state and I was honored to stand, if only for a moment, and show my
support.

Happy Gay & Lesbian Pride Month!!

TROUBLE MAKER WENDY’S is on the MOVE – PLUS The W Preps for the groundbreaking.

Alterra recently the150,000 square foot Class B office building at 1515 Chestnut Street in
2013 and in partnership with The Scully Company is intending to redevelop the property into ~175
Class A apartments, 8,000 square feet of office, and 7,500 square feet
of ground floor retail. The project is currently in the planning stages
with construction slated to start in Q2 2014 and completion in Q2 2015.

That Wendy’s on the corner has been a magnet of trouble for years, and it was deemed a deterrent to obtaining business for the new project;  BUT it’s a money maker too. What to do, the Alterra decided to move the Wendy’s from the corner and

put it in the center of the building where the Giovani Pizza and the Falafel Bar were located, after negotiated a lease buyout from the two eateries. They will now move to 1533 Chestnut in the long vacant Ritz Camera Shop.

What’s going in on the corner where Wendy’s soon will be history (as of August), a WELLS Fargo. Remember about a month ago I tweeted that WELLS FARGO was leaving 1500 Market Street, now we know where they’re going, around the corner.

Across the street is where the new W Hotel is going. This week they are beginning to test the soil in anticipation for the building as well as the extensive underground parking lot they’re building.  Last week officials from the project went around to the surrounding buildings, including the new Alterra project, and took photos of them inside an out – “The Before Photos”, just in case vibrations from the drilling and building the W causes any cracks in the neighboring buildings.  So busy, busy happening at this already busy intersection and #TrafficAlert
