Loser, last night I was supposed to go to Joselio Hanson’s birthday party but I never woke up from my disco nap. What happened I used to be able to stay up all night just a few months ago. Can’t wait for the busy social season to kick in in September so I can get my mojo back. Lots of my friends went and they said it was off the charts awesome. I snatched some pixs from my friend Carmena Ayo-Davies who put the event together.

 Happy Birthday Joselio
With that new bride glow Kijafa Vick (OK actually she always glows.)

Michael Vick smiling wide with a win under his belt. DeSean Jackson, Jon and Julie Dorenbos. Looks like I missed a great party. baaah. Hopefully the Eagles will continue their weekly parties at G Lounge this winter. Happy Birthday, and Congrats!!

THE HAMELS FOUNDATION MAKES KIDS DREAM COME TRUE

THE HAMELS FOUNDATION MAKES KIDS DREAM COME TRUE

Just a couple months ago, on
June 1st, The Hamels Foundation presented a check to Bayard
Taylor
Elementary School $300,000 for a complete outdoor renovation. For over
100
years, this place used to look like an empty parking lot and now, there
is a state
of the art playground by Kompan,

a greenhouse with raised bed garden by
Rock N’ Renew (sponsored by Olitsky Family Foundation), an iPad/Tech
learning center (sponsored by Wells Fargo), a chess/checker station
(also sponsored by Wells Fargo), a soccer field, and so much more! In
Philadelphia alone,

Yesterday, I headed over to the Hunting Park where the Bayard
Taylor
Elementary School is located. An area which has hit hard times, but yesterday was full of busy people working towards the future, the kids future. Nothing like a beautiful playground, and a larger than life mural with one of your role models on it, to make playtime fun and create dreams of the future.

100’s of volunteers came out to put the finishing touches on the playground.  Hamels Foundation Board member Jimmy Maransky

rallies over the Community Day Volunteers from Greater Media
Philadelphia and Wells Fargo at the start of the day. (Maransky is a real estate developer and broker who specializes in environmentally-conscious new construction.)

Among those who helped out were Heidi and Cole Hamels. At one point someone asked Cole if he’d like to do the digging, and he said believe it or not Heidi is best at this job since picking up these skills on the TV show Survivor a few years back.

Emily

No one was more enthusiastic than the principal, Debra Drossner, who watched her dream come true, a concept she and Heidi worked on together; a safe place for the kids to play, something that encourages kids to look forward to going to school, the foundation to a community.  She’s a great cheerleader of kids. For the Hamels this was a no brainer way to help kids as Heidi was once a gym school teacher and well Cole, he’s a mighty fine athlete.

Cole and Heidi help out with the finishing touches on the mural

which was created by Kien Nguygn, Jane Golden, executive director of the Mural Arts Program, and Efrain Herrea

It’s pretty, safe and soft: The playground is environmentally friendly, synthetic turf playground flooring, which has a much lower upkeep, soft tile playground surfaces, and adds color to what would normally be a blacktop tar material.

At one point during the day Cole came across this young student, Jerry Aponte who challenged the ace pitcher to a game of checkers which is permanently located in the yard.

In the end, the ace pitcher cleaned up the board, with Cole telling the young boy, a year of practicing you’ll be able to beat me.

There’s an an iPad/Tech learning center
(sponsored by Wells Fargo)
There’s a rock climbing cube.
a greenhouse
(sponsored by The Olitsky Family Foundation) where kids can grow their own vegetables, tend to plants and learn about agriculture, right there in the big city.

Cole Hamels affixes a sign to the basketball backboard.  He told me that when he was in high school he was never able to dunk a ball even though he was very tall.

Currently, there are 565
students enrolled in grades K-5 and there are no playgrounds or safe outdoor
centers within a 10-block radius.

Denise Wine from Wells Fargo presents an additional $25,000 to The Hamels Foundation. This money goes toward the Bayard Taylor Elementary School. The Hamels Foundation plans to do help out many more schools in the future, and now that this charitable couple is here for at least the next 6 years, we can look forward to a lot of good deeds to come.

 (6ABC)

The Hamels Foundation has donated over $660,000 to over 20
public schools. By the end of 2012, The Hamels Foundation will have donated
over 1.8 million dollars worldwide to improve education for kids not only here
in the states, but in Malawi Africa.

To help, text the word HAMELS to 20222 to donate $5

ONE SHOTS: FUNNY, FRIENDS & OF COURSE MILEY CYRUS

Here are a few shots that I meant to post somewhere, but time just got away from me.

A few weeks back The
Independence Blue Cross Foundation

The
grant is part of the Foundation’s overall commitment to transform
healthcare through innovation in the communities it serves.

·
Lorina Marshall-Blake, President, Independence Blue Cross Foundation
(w/teal jogging suit on)
·
Steve Fera, SVP Public Affairs, Independence Blue Cross (Yellow Tie)
·
Jill Fink, Executive Director, Back on My Feet Philadelphia (purple shirt)
·
Back on My Feet members, runners and participants
·
Blue Crew volunteers, Blue Streaks running club and IBC Associates
It was one of those crazy hot days so I applaud the Blue Streaks running club for their mile run afterwards.
You can do your part for better health. Share this tip, then enter for a chance to win a $50 cash gift card here: http://bit.ly/McQyQz

Happy Birthday to my niece Mimi. 1 year old last week. Hope I live to see her get married. She’s the last one to be born in the family to my youngest sister. I’ll be 75 if she gets married the same age my sister got married to her husband. Her brothers Bo and Michael seem to be enjoying themselves too.

I saw this cute dog hanging out the window in Margate

Darn Reid Rosenthal was kicked off Bachelor Pad the other night. But over the weekend he tweeted this photo. Not hurting a bit.

Soup Nazi was at KYW 3 a few weeks ago. I saw one lady give him her cell phone and he recorded a message for her on the voice mail answering machine that said “We have no soup for you, for a year!!”

Philadelphia Eagles defensive-ender Trent Cole visited The Sports Cave’s new location in the Rotunda at the Shops at Liberty Place on July 5th to sign autographs and take pictures with excited fans.

Liking the shoes.
I’m not exactly sure what he does, but he’s at the corner of Broad & Chestnut Streets every day to take your photo. Here’s his website. Could someone explain it to me?  The guy on the left is a rapper… PhlyBoi Ceaser. Here’s his Youtube Channel.

I love that Perez Hilton’s mailing system sends me a happy birthday every year. When I tweet a thank you to Perez, he always tweets back to say no problem.  On the otherhand I can’t get Cher to say boo to me. She only answers people who call her a shriveled up old lady who should slither away. It’s very irritating.

It was Mike Jerrick’s bday a few weeks back.

Over the passed week or so my wire service photos have been picked up by several different entertainment sites. I thought these were kinda cook, or had funny head lines.

Even MTV picks up the story is Miley Cyrus driving Liam crazy?

I love this site “Was it bring your fiance to work day?” Miley is back in town visiting the set, going for runs to Starbucks, someone even mentioned they saw her on Kelly Drive running yesterday afternoon?  Wonder if they fan girls will give her a chase there?

Happy Birthday Laura Burkhardt. A few weeks back a few of us headed to Franklin Square for a little miniature golf. Michael, Jen, Kevin, Laura and moi on a hot Sunday. Also happy birthday to Monica Glass and Wendy Cohen, both women were at D’Angelo’s last night celebrating their big days too. (Monica was at our table.)

Philadelphia Style Magazine Cup Polo Match Championship

Sunday
beautiful Sunday, Mike and I drove out to the The Brandywine Polo
Club in Kennet SQ, PA to watch The Residences at The Ritz Carlton’s,
Philadelphia Polo Team play The Borgata, Hotel & Casino’s AC Polo Team
For 1st Annual The Philadelphia
STYLE Cup, hosted by Philadelphia Style Magazine’s publisher John Collabelli
and his wife Lauren Collabelli.

Lots of beautiful, dressed in their polo watching finest turned out to watch the team sport played on horseback in which the objective is to score goals against an opposing team, including Italian exchange student/attorney, Antonio Aloisi, Carlo F. Fiammengh, architectural designer with Terra Studio  Yvette Cooper and Mark Tarasiewicz, Associate Executive Director at Philadelphia Bar Association

Sporting one of her magnificent taxidermy headpieces, milliner Beth Beverly and  Pearl Bell. The traditional sport of polo is played at speed on a large grass field
up to 300 yards long by 160 yards wide, and each polo team consists of
four riders and their mounts.

Proper Philadelphia’s R.C. Atlee Hodgson, the real estate market is picking up he tells me. Maria O’Connor, Chrissy Madden, Jen McGowan, CEO of Jackie’s Hat Box and Tracy Dugan

The modern game lasts roughly two hours and is divided into periods called chukkas (occasionally rendered as “chukkers”). During half-time of a match, spectators are invited to go onto the
field to participate in a polo tradition called “divot stamping”, which
has developed to not only help replace the mounds of earth (divots) that
are torn up by the horses’ hooves, but to afford spectators the
opportunity to walk about and socialize.

Mainline Social Diarist Susan Scovill and Vittoria Woodill
Meredith Setzman and Meaghan Peeler, with Roxy the dog.

Bringing sexy back Beka Rendell looking fabulous since having her son earlier this year. Wish I could lose my baby weight. Anyway, with her is hubby Jesse Rendell and Charles and Nicole Nicole Paloux (L) Nicole loves Apt. 30 Design and wants you to check it out.

John Bolaris and his daughter Reina with The Residences at The Ritz Carlton’s,
Philadelphia Polo Team player
Juan Vidal. (darn I cut the horese’s head off just like in Godfather.)

Caitlin Joyce and Danni Gonzalez

Kenneth and Jennifer Johnson with Linda Allen-Hamilton and Warren R Hamilton

There were multiple VIP Tents hosted by The Borgata, The Ritz Carlton and Philly Style Mag with
amazing signature drinks, entertainment, gourmet Hors d’ oeuvres by 10
Arts and some of Borgata’s finest restaurants. Plus Daniel Stern’s R2L served up an impressive and delicious seafood spread.

Steve Stackhouse , Lucille Richards and Stevi Richards

John Soden and Sarah Doheny at their Luau tail gate party. Every week you can find the stylish Pr Diva on the sidelines watch the ponies play and creating a fun party for her guests.

Lauren Friedman and Hayley Broder

The skies turned stormy, the last game was finished, but I had no idea who was going to get the 1st Annual Philadelphia Cup cause John Colabelli made the right decision by canceling the award ceremony. Mike Toub and I headed to the car with his new Borgatta chair.

We headed for our balcony and watched natures light show.

Alicia Keys at Jar Bar, Swizz Beatz & Dr J at The Ritz, then an appearance at

Happy Anniversary to Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, who celebrated by posing (& posting pix on Twitter) under the lights of the Apollo Theater in Harlem on July 31. Then

on August 3 Swizz Beatz made an appearance at the Ubiq Life Store for CONVERSE party where they launch the Converse Pro Leather collection in Philadelphia. Sixers legend Dr J was there too.  This photo was taken in the lounge of the Ritz Carlton, and tweeted by Swizz Beatz (I recognize the beads). Alicia was also at The Ritz, and although she wasn’t spotted at Ubiq,

she was spotted at  Jar Bar Restaurant that evening with a friend. She picked up a Sprouted hummus wrap, Asian Kale Salad, (YUMMY) Mexican Fiesta Salad, 2 Chocolate Maca Smoothies, and Fresh Juices (They have a delicious low cal, veggie brownie too.) See a celebrity, email your tips to Buzz@phillychitchat.com
Thanks

MILEY CYRUS HAS LEFT PHILLY, A WEEK OF PARANOIA, Tidbits & lots of Gossip

Aaah no clip from Fox 29 this week. If you were following me on Twitter last week when I was on my way to the station you would know I decided to walk the last mile or so; wrong decision in a peach shirt. I was switzing a lot when I did the camera time. So I will try and remember what I said here in this entry.

First thing I talked about was Mayor Nutter visiting the set last Tuesday with Sharon Pinkenson, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.  I chatted about how important the Film Tax Credit is, it puts a lot of people to work like set designers, security people, truck drivers (the union guys are great); did you know when you close down a street in a neighborhood, like the one in South Philly last week at 10th & Carpenter,

You need to hire a certain number of Philadelphia Police officers, they do crowd control and secure the area from traffic. Restaurants and other people benefit from the production too like moi, I go out and photograph the production putting the name “filming in Philadelphia” attached to which ever of my celebrity photos are picked up on the wire service.

On Monday at 10th & Carpenter several scenes were filmed with Liam Hemsworth and his character’s dad Richard Dreyfus. Dreyfuss stopped in DiBruno’s on 18th and Chestnut Streets last week for a few snacks. I see he’s suffering from the sweatz too!

It was around this time that stories began to float ie RadarOnline.com, that Liam was getting sick and tired of Miley Cyrus hanging in Philly with him. Sure they’re in love, and are planning a marriage, but he needed to concentrate on this major motion picture, especially because he is the lead. Even this picture I took was turned into some kind of negative story on Perez Hilton. He made it seem that Liam was leaving Miley in the dust trying to get in the trailer.

When actually in the next frames Liam stops to help Miley up the steep stairs.  Chivalry is not dead. (If you use any these photos on my blog, please link back to me.)

That evening the production moved over to the 1700 block of Locust Streets. It was a surprise to me as I was on my usual walk through Rittenhouse Square to see which exciting people were eating at the “to be seen” restaurants and came upon the shooting around 6PM.  The scene consisted of Liam “getting into a SUV”, which was then filmed driving away.

The next night I finally had a Julian McMahon, (Nip/Tuck) sighting. He was doing a scene outside Audrey Claire’s restuarant at 20th & Spruce Streets.  Earlier in the evening he introduced himself to each of the extra’s, exchanging pleasantries and shaking their hands. A very nice gesture.
Around the corner in the same scene was Lucas Till and Liam Hemsworth filming a scene where they are walking down the street, drinking beers out of paper bags.  In between scenes the guy in the yellow would hold the props.  I wish this photo was cleaner cause the actors are posing for a photo for the prop guy and Liam is making a face while sticking out his tongue.  I shot these from D’Angelo’s Ristorante Italiano and Lounge
where I had the most delicious clams, pasta dinner with a stuff mushroom starter. I chatted with a server who had waited on Liam and Miley the week before. They said the duo is obviously very in love. They were holding hands and really intimate. That evening Liam had his first taste of Chicken Cacciatore and said he loved it.  He was back in the restaurant the night they filmed outside, but I was upstairs near the window seat they sat in. So when you go to D’Angelo’s ask to be sat in the Liam & Miley table.
This table in Twenty Manning was used in the background scene for Paranoia.  The food actually came from D’Angelo’s as their restaurant remained opened during the shooting. (It was fairly crowded too.)
That headline on Perez Hilton is so funny, “Liam Hemsworth Takes a Stroll Without Miley.”,
when actually he is filming a scene with Lucas Till at 20th & Manning Streets in Philly. Miley usually comes to the set right before the night begins, then at meal time, then picks him up. She has her own car.
Here’s a shot of them leaving the film set at 330AM that evening with very devoted fans who were there for nearly 10 hours waiting for their idols. I love chatting with the fans. I am in constant awe of their determination. I’m in awe of Liam and Miley who continually pose for them.  I’ve only heard a half dozen stories where the duo didn’t pose for people. One happened in the tanning salon that Miley goes to, not sure if she was wrapped in a towel or just wanted to enjoy the bake.  Fans Yana, Sara, Airelle with Miley Liam. This is the last photo of Miley with fans as she has left Philly for a bit, I don’t know how long.
I do know that if you didn’t get a photo, (she didn’t seem to sign any autographs), then that would be ashame, as I said they almost always posed.
Thursday night an epic scene was being filmed in the ally between G Lounge and the Palamor Hotel. Here’s Liam running down the street.
Being chased by Julian McMahon. The lighting, steam and ambiance of this scene was magnificent. I took these photos from the Sofitel Hotel.  Earlier I was at Davio’s hanging out their 6th story bathroom window, plus I tried to get a shot from the Guest Quarters. Thanks to the folks who allowed me to shoot at those places, but the angles just didn’t provide what I needed. The Sofitel was perfect.
The scene above in film. This week Paranoia is filming at the Kimmel Center at Broad & Spruce Streets.  There’s 4 more weeks left of shooting, then a break because as I mentioned exclusively in my Philly Mag column, Liam Hemsworth is leaving to film the sequel to Hunger Games, returning to Philly in late fall to complete the movie. Details here.

This is the last shot of the duo eating in Philly together (taken Friday somewhere), as she hopped on a plane the next day, Saturday, to get her hair dyed even more blond. I guess she discovered blondes do have more fun. At least we know she had a blast in Philly.  I wonder did Liam send her away? What do you think?
