Rainy Day Fashions…Get Out The Vote

Hey today is one of those perfect storm days. I was out all day Monday, dinner with a friend too late, the Eagles game was on, my Philly Mag One Shot photo was due with write up, and this morning I’m on Fox 29’s Good Day at 9:15AM and need to prep. So here’s a few pixs I took a few weeks. If I get home before 1PM I will publish an event for you. I have a few that you’ll want to see.

Bummer Eagles.

Love the boots and umbrellas

Bradley Cooper In North Philly, Chris Tucker and The X-Factor Philadelphia Link

Bradley Cooper and the David O. Russell directed Silver Linings Project Update:

Friday: Even Bradley Cooper’s leather coat looks like that trash bag he’s been wearing for the past month of filming. Thank God he’s easy on the eyes, because the trash bag is in the dumps. Today Robert Deniro is schedule to come back into town and is due on the Upper Darby set. Last week Bradley and Jennifer Lawrence filmed additional scenes of them running down the street (where have we seen that before?), and in the evening they filmed a scene in a diner where Jennifer Lawrence’s character has a break down including a screaming fit. (This movie just doesn’t sound like a comedy as it’s classified.)
Chris Tucker who I tweeted was in town for his scenes last Tuesday, filmed a scene at Norristown Hospital with Bradley Cooper on Monday night. No report of him on the set after that, but he’s still in town as he showed up at his old friends Harry Belafonte’s book signing at the Philadelphia Library on Friday night, along with a sold out crowd of fans. Belafonte’s new book is called “My Song: A Memoir” (Paul J. Froggatt – PR Photos License)

The X-Factor Philadelphia Link:

LeRoy Bell

LeRoy Bell was in an American soul group from Philadelphia with Casey James, called Bell and James. Bell’s uncle Thom Bell got them signed to Gamble & Huff as songwriters for Philadelphia International Records. They wrote tunes for Elton John, MFSB, The O’Jays, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Freda Payne, Phyllis Hyman, The Three Degrees, and others, before A&M Records took notice and signed them to a full album deal in 1978.

According to Wikipedia: Three albums and several hit singles followed, including “Livin’ it Up (Friday Night),” which hit #7 on the U.S. Billboard Black singles, and #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1979. Thom Bell wrote songs with Philadelphia songstress Linda Creed. The annual Linda Creed charity luncheon is on December 3rd 2011 from 11:00 AM-2:00PM, in the Crystal Tea Room, in the Wanamaker Building for our 2011 “Enchanted Holidays” Volunteer Recognition Luncheon and Fashion Show.

BRADLEY COOPER WEARING A HEFTY, AGAIN. SHERYL LEE RALPH ON BLACK GIRLS ROCK PLUS MY SNOWY LANCASTER PIXS

PhillyChitChatter:

Celebrity Hair Stylist and Nbeauty Inc. salon owner, Naeemah Johnson, had the honor and privilege of extending her sought after hair care services at the BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™ 2011 televised special held at the historic Paradise Theater in Bronx, NY. BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™ 2011 will premiere on BET on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 8 P.M. Naeemah styled actress/activist/wife of Sen Vincent Hughes – Sheryl Lee Ralph’s sexy wavy hair, by creating a deep side part, and used a barrel curling iron to create a halo of waves that were draped away from the actress’ face. The re-vamped look was heavily inspired by Farrah Fawcett’s 70’s glam.

Bradley Cooper pulling double duty yesterday. During the day he was back out on the Upper Darby streets, then last night he was filming interiors in a diner. Deets coming soon. Looks like Chris Tucker is gone already, no sign of Robert Deniro or Julia Stiles, and BC is still wearing that ugly trash bag running suit.

Philly Film Girl is back from fun in the sun and hiding near the set to bring us up to date on the different locations Bradley’s character is running in the trash bag.

I was surprised as many of you were that it snowed last Saturday, but oh my the rarity of snow while the leaves were still on the trees I knew I’d be waking up early to head out to some of the most beautiful country scenes I know, in Lancaster, Pa.
It’s beautiful to be unique
It’s almost like a Christmas card
I saw a lot of this, thankfully not in the road too many times. It’s almost like he’s saying, oh no here comes that HughE Dillon again, he’s so fascinated with our lives.
I was all happy shooting them without their knowledge, but then dad turned around and I pretended I was on the phone cause I don’t want them to know I am stealing their souls.
And of course you know I love photographing the Amish. It’s completely oposite of what I normally am attracted to like the restaurant scene, crazy nightlife, galas, social activity, fame whores, action, design, socialites, noise complication, confident people, fashion, drama, Philly, people.

Some of the most beautiful trees on country roads are at the curve of the road
OMG blown up this is one of my favorite photos event. 6 girls on bikes. I was traveling on old Lancaster Pike in the opposite direction, and spotted them. I had to make a K turn somewhere passed them, hoping they didn’t turn down a side street. I finally caught up with them, but then knew I needed a side street or commercial driveway to get the shot, plus remember I didn’t want them to see me so I had to use my long lens too. Finally another mile up the road I found the perfect spot, and this is the shot I got.
Then I continued down the side street and drove among the Amish farms. I remember in college I did a paper on the Amish in Maryland, and became friendly with a family. They never wanted their photo taken and I respected that, but my fascination never waned and now every 4 – 6 months I travel to Lancaster to photograph the wonders of their world.
oh and I came across several long distance bike riders too.
I think this is my favorite shot. I love how the snow fell in between the crops and made the design
Amish snowmen. I had passed an Amish snowman with a straw hat earlier in the day, but it was in the shadows and the shot didn’t come out.colorful
or BW. What do you think?

The Arts Ballroom was really beautiful, the first of it’s kind that I can recall in Center City that is not connected to a hotel, but a stand a lone events space similar to Cescaphe Ballroom in Northern Liberties.

NYC’s GREENHOUSE MAKES A MOVE, Want to Meet Bradley Cooper?; Sophia Kendrick; The Hamels Have A Boy & Borgata Celebs

AS I reported in August, Manhattan’s Eco-friendly lounge “Greenhouse” is opening on Chestnut Street a few doors down from Union Trust

In a building that once manufactured and sold hats, as well as clothing. More recently
was know as the Philadelphia Blueprint Company (and how I wish they would keep the sign, or at least donate it to McGillin’s as they seem to have a lot of former biz signs in their tavern. Although it does look piecemeal. I’ll take the “H” then.)
When I was first tipped off I thought it was 721 as my tipster said it was right next door to UT, but now that the LCB license went up I see it’s 725 Chestnut Street. Here’s the inside of 725 and it looks to be fairly raw space right now. I do recall hearing that the Philly Greenhouse is going to be a couple levels with one level being a mezzanine looking down at the other area.

Borgata was hungry like the wolf this weekend with a sold-out performance on Saturday, October 29th by the Wild Boys themselves, Duran Duran. The group was joined onstage by their producer, Mark Ronson, who brought back the 80s later that night as he performed a rockin’ deejay set in MIXX Nightclub, including the last song he and belated friend Amy Winehouse worked on together, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?” Sister and fellow deejay, Samantha Ronson – who was dressed as teen phenomenon Justin Bieber (although Bieber usually doesn’t scowl like that!) – brought down the house in mur.mur nightclub before joining her brother in MIXX for the emotional tribute. Earlier in the evening Sam tweeted a shot of the Duran Duran concert that she and her brother attended before heading to their gigs at the different Borgata clubs. Nearly every player joined in on the fun except DeSean Jackson, who I’ve been told made it out to the club even during the losing nights. The following night a few of the players came back for more G Lounge fun on Halloween Night: Jeremy Maclin, Brent Celek & Trent Cole hanging but bah hum bug not in costume. HENRI DAVID BALL, EAGLES WIVES, G LOUNGE HALLOWEEN SHOTS

The Henri David Ball on October 31st is a Philadelphia tradition. This unique party is presented by the Henri David (The Perle Mesta of Philadelphia)
(Welcome to my new advertiser Teuscher‘s Chocolate, yum. They have sugar free chocolate and are located in the Bellevue. Ck out the cute gift boxes. See sidebar here >>>>)
Open minded mature adults are encouraged to attend, but don’t expect the randy activities that went down at the Mummers club in South Philly, no the mature audience note is almost passe as many folks in this generation are used to seeing guys with guys and gals with gals. In fact, the Henri David Ball was on the forefront of crowds mixing and having a good time. Henri David above: During the day Henri operates Halloween on Pine Street, a Philly staple for unique jewelry.
There is a $25.00 fee to attend in costume and 75.00 if you choose not to wear a costume. These folks no doubt were at the $25 level as they lit up the nite in their Halloween finery.
Peanut Butter the make up artist, who I hear throws a pretty good Halloween party the weekend before. I see he’s been working out.
Beam me up Scotty!
Handing out his new company’s promo cards: OffTo.com will launch the first website devoted entirely to providing fabulous deals on customized LGBT getaways in the U.S. and abroad, TODAY. Each OffTo getaway package bundles phenomenal accommodations with social, cultural and recreational activities and diversions. Every getaway is expertly designed, coordinated and negotiated by OffTo’s team of travel coordinators.
Around 500 – 800 people were in attendance last night. When Halloween falls on a Thursday – Sunday night the attendence can go as high as 3,000 people.
Paul, Henri David’s partner of a decade or so Paul Struck. Always looks fabulous.
Denise Dziedzic and Melody Schofield, Sporting Club
Patrick
Big winners of the night.
Another winner: a guy proposed to his girlfriend on stage during the “romantic couple” contest.
Chase Utley. Every year this guy has a fabulous outfit. One year he came as the Operation game, another as a guy at a urinal.

Nathan Lerner, Joann Goodwin, and John Johnson
Lauren Richmond on the far right and looking DEAD ON like a scary Black Swan.
Then it was off to the Walnut Room, which is above Alfa for Kijafa and Julie Dorenbos’ Halloween Party.
Joselio Hanson, Julian Vandervelde, Daryl Tapp and Jon Dorenbos
High school sweethearts, Julian Vandervelde with fiance Paula LisenBee.
KENDRA G as Beyonce and Jarret Janako as her bodyguardKijafa, PNKElephant (jewelery), Carmena Ayo-Davies, 3BG Marketing Solutions and Julie Dorenbos, Skin Palate spray tanning salon

Marsha Ambrosius looking bloody awesome
Jon Dorenbos and Darryl Tappeye candy
Eye fulleye eye eye
Then it was on to G Lounge for their Maxim Magazine “Boardwalk Empire” Party. Spotted sans costume: Brent Celek, Jeremy Maclin and Trent Cole milling about.
Women’s fashions of the 1920’s are a large part of the Jazz Age identity. New technology and the end of the horrors brought about by World War I and the 1918 Flu Pandemic gave rise to a youthful exuberance personified by the Flapper.
The youth drank in carefree disregard of Prohibition (which outlawed the manufacture, sale, and distribution of alcohol but not its consumption) and lost respect for authority and traditional morals. Young women smoked cigarettes and danced the Charleston and Blackbottom, typified by fast, jerky movements.Contrary to popular misconception, the short skirts and bold make up of the flapper did not rule the fashion of the day. Fashion periods are usually distinguished by the female silhouette which presented a boyish figure with flattened breasts and loose clothing for most of the decade.

See who stopped by the Dean Cafiero’s Halloween party Saturday night that I didn’t tell you. BTW the soiree was coordinating by Hacina Saadi who looks to be creating a new path for herself. Ck out my One Shot column on Philly Mag’s The Post to see celeb sighting.
