Drink Up For Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month & Charity! – I Want Your Pictures

I’m asking you my readers if they would be willing to help promote Ovarian Awareness Month by ordering a special drink called the “Teal-Tini” and send me a photo of you with the drink. For each photo I receive I will donate $1 to Gilda’s Club of South Jersey in honor of my sister. (up to $1,000.) I’m in the process of getting the crochet room named after her as it was a comfort to her to participate in that program at the house. If you want to help me get there make a donation in the name of Judy Wilkins that would be great. On November 22 I will be having the Annual Judy Wilkins Gilda’s Club Charity Event at TBD (Probably Fleming’s Steakhouse in Marlton, NJ.) Judy’s Bday was 11/24Below you will find a recipe for the Teal- Tini but please allow your bartenders to have fun with this and create their own. Just make sure it’s Teal.

My cousins ordered Teal-Tini’s at a wedding they went to Friday Night

Teal-Tini: Blueberry Stoli, Blue Curacao, Lemonade, Splash of Sprite – Then Facebook me (Philly ChitChat), text me or send me your photos (buzz @ PhillyChitChat.com – no spaces) and I will put them up on PhillyChitChat.com and mention your name and where you were. Thanks HughE (AND Thanks to my sister Janine DeFeo for giving me this idea. She is spearheading an effort in Charlotte NC)

People Watching Fashion: People You May Know & News You Might Need

Summer is winding down. I can’t believe it’s September 1. For the long time readers you probably saw me slow down a bit on my event entries for PCC, cause well I spent a lot of time outside. I do love summer, too much. But now I am hitting the ground running and ready for the Fall Social Season, which is going to be the bomb. Tonight alone I have 4 events I want to hit. Check out Fox 29 tomorrow to hear about a couple, then head over to PhillyMag to see pixs for a different event. I’m sure I’ll have something fun on PCC too.

I can’t stop taking pictures, whether it’s random people on the street, folks I know or interesting fun subjects. I stopped by to see Beka Rendell at her studio Styled Creative in Old City to see what was up on the story board. She and her biz partner Kimberly Fink are gearing up for a busy season of styling, whether it’s a person, an event, a photo shoot, a wedding or a special occasion. I just love chatting with them, and looking at their storyboard for inspiration. (Who knew Beka had a tattoo on her wrist?)

On 2nd Street I ran into Julie Hixon who was looking extra special in this flowery print. Julie just got back from Brazil, and said seeing the Christ the Redeemer statue in person was really moving.

After my appearance yesterday on Fox 29, I ran into KYW Newsradio’s Melony Roy, and reporters John McDavitt and Ian Bush. Then a block up my bud Hadas Kuznits, who’s skilled to bike in a Anne Klein skirt and boots. THIS FRIDAY: If you’re wandering Old City for First Friday, Dan and I plan to have a small yard sale table… be sure to stop by and say hi around 2nd and Market! (I’ll have HughE stuff there too. Maybe a piece of Philly photo art I used to do in my former life.)BTW in the Fox 29 piece I talk about Patti LaBelle visiting Miss Tootsie’s on South Street. Well Patti arrived in my new advertisers limo Secrets Limousine Service and you can too. But that’s not how I knew Patti would be there, I really was there for dinner hosted by Megan Smith, Brownstone PR and the National MS Society to benefit the local chapter. I love how things work out that way though, I had no idea my new advertiser’s limo would be there.

Dave Maser, Of Counsel at Chimicles & Tikellis and is admitted to

practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, is not afraid of being a fashion trailblazer, let’s talk about that blazer, with the much more dressed conservatively Brian Sims. Brian, President, Board of Directors at Equality Pennsylvania, is training for the Marine Corps Marathon this October. Fashion, fashion, fashion

September is FASHION MONTH and there’s a lot of exciting, stylish fashionable events to attend including the nationwide kick off of Fashion Month with Fashion Night Out at King of Prussia Mall and then our own special fashion celebration, the Philadelphia Fashion Collection which kicks off on September 12. Other picks FBH Phila Fashion Week, and one of my favorite events Phasion Fest on September 21 Also coming up is a fun event the Rittenhouse Row Fall Gathering on Thursday, September 22, 2011 7:00p.m. Above:

The “Faces of Rittenhouse” photo shoot. Dave “Duke” Doyle and Kellie Taylor won the coveted model contest after entering their mugs at the Spring Festival for Rittenhouse Row. I had lunch at Serafina yesterday with some of my favorite people including Serafina owners Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato and Ten Rittenhouse resident Sabrina Tamburino-Thorne and Carol Tamburino. The girls are showing the guys where Serafina is listed in Philly Mag’s Best of Philly issue. Lunch was delicious, and really fun to eat it with the owners who explained each of the dishes. The boys are expanding, opening new places in Istanbul, Moscow, Japan, and England. Did you know they own Little West 12th in the Meat Packing district. I used to paparazzi lots of celebs there. Look for a concept similar to that one to open in Philly in the next 12 months.

Julia Somers-Morley transports us back to the good ol’ days of Philadelphia style and elegance with her Armani Jacket, a Patricia Underwood had, and Susan Schwartz bangles.

Gwen, Donald and Sharon. I used to work with Gwen & Sharon. I ran into all three of these peeps yesterday afternoon. Small world Donald, who you’ve seen on these pages before, knew Gwen.

Always good to catch up with Chrissy Schaffer and Kimberly Setlowe. We were at Rouge where I enjoyed a delicious seasonal Heirloom Tomato and Mozzarella salad, and lots of smiles from the beautiful Sam from behind the bar. It was packed as usual, and everyone seemed to know each others names, or soon found out their names.

The two Chris’ from Bliss. Remember I tweeted the other day that I peeked into Bliss and didn’t notice anything different, but the floor. Chris tells me that Bliss had a flood last year, and the renovation was just to clean up some of the mess you really couldn’t see. They did get a new floor, new chairs and a new menu, which I could have had had I stopped by the restaurant but I needed to get on my way.

Bruce Goldberg of Teuscher Philadelphia at the Shops of Bellevue. There’s a lot of things I love about Teusher’s besides the great chocolate. They have the cutest boxes check them out here

also they sport a great Philadelphia gift box by Britt Miller (Disclosure Teuscher will be advertising with me soon, but I do truly love their chocolates, the store, and highly recommend them (especially the Milch Schokolade which is made with Frutose for us Diabetics.)

I stopped by to see my friend Mary Dougherty, President, MKD & Associates; Owner, Nicole Miller Stores. Mary is looking forward to the fashion events going on this month, including The 2nd Annual XIX Most Fashionable Women in Philadelphia presented by Mary and internationally recognized designer, Nicole Miller. Then Nicole Miller will be feted by Philly Style Magazine at a reception at the Palm, which will include the unveiling and dedication of her face on the wall. Garrett Miller and Iryna Zakalyuk. Garrett senior director at Bluestone Real Estate Capital has completed five financing deals totaling more than $70 million in the region. The company has secured $21 million in financing for the Erbe apartment; $10 million for the Center City Northeastern property; $17 million for the transformation of the Robert Morris building into 111 apartments; and a $20M-million loan for the Woodbury Mews senior housing property. She wouldn’t be orange if she went to Skin Palette where they have several shades to choose from. SP are also my new advertisers; Tell them PhillyChitChat.com sent you and you’ll get 25% off.Talking about palette, Artist Perry Milou is seeing a dream of his come true with his PALETTE KIDS which is an independent fine arts studio for children ages five and older “whose atmosphere is conceptualized through your child imagination and artistic visions” at 116 S. 19th Street, 3rd Floor

Family is always fashionable. Aunt Harriet and Uncle Barry, with mom in law Eleanor Toub and my guy Mike Toub. In the center and pretty in purple, neighbor and good friend Ceil Banks. We just celebrated Ceil’s 85th birthday at Ruby Tuesday’s in Center City.

Here’s looking towards a cooler social season.

People Watching: Atlantic City & Ocean City Boardwalks – Planking Anyone?

This weekend marks the unofficial end to the Summer of 2011. I only made it down to the shore about a handful of times, (from Caesar’s Pier One Mall, 3rd level. They have a little section with seats sitting in the sand so it feels like your on the beach, but with Air Conditioning.) but took a few photos the last time I was there to capture the flavor of the boardwalk. Whether running around town shooting events, or sitting on the Boardwalk at the shore, people fascinate me.

Planking in Atlantic City

My niece Lauren and Mike at Laura’s Fudge in Ocean City. Stop by and say hi

How many seagulls dive bombed your fries this year?

The new Ocean City bridge fascinates me too. What’s gonna happen to the old bridge. Will this land be condo’s in 2 years?

Back home last weekend

Hacina Saadi, Kate Beaver, Samantha Trasatti,Courtney Grant, and Alexis Sophia ready to watch the sunset at Fairmount Park on Sunday. The girls tell me they usually go to shore every weekend, but since Hurricane Irene came to town that trip was cancelled and instead they went to a few Hurricane Parties including the transported from Avalon Whitebriar’s Happy Hour which set up shop at Public House and everyone had to wear their beach attire. I hear over 600 people attended and the bar ran out of booze by 9PM. Happy Hour over. They moved on to Chef Jason Cichonski house (formerly of Lacroix, Mica and now he’s opening a new restaurant at Third and Bainbridge ) where he cook them all a delicious supper

plus other Phillies Walking the Catwalk at Shane Victorino’s Charity Fashion Show & Video

Sorry this was shaky, the hardest working paparazzi in town was trying to photograph the peeps on the runway while also filming with his other camera. Sometimes it didn’t work out too well. The photo doesn’t look half bad?

Hunter Pence was probably showing his new “girlfriend” what was in store for her. Remember that blond I was tweeted about at the Hamels Foundation, well he brought her to the Victorino event. Find out who she is and for more pictures and story check out my column in Philly Mag below

KRISPY KREME OPENING: COLLINGSWOOD – CRAZY KIDS & CHARITABLE ADULTS STAND WAIT HOURS IN LINE

Tuesday in Collingswood, NJ, a whole bunch of people woke early to get pick up a few doughnuts to bring as the first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop opened in New Jersey.

At the old KFC location at Cuthbert Blvd and Haddon Ave.

A few people arrived Sunday night for the Tuesday opening. Krispy Kreme had one of those great contests again where the first arrival received a dozen doughnuts every week for a year, then 2 – 10 received a dozen doughnuts every month for a year, 11 – 20 free coffee, and 11 – 100 received a free t-shirts. Folks actually slept out over night to get the highly collectible shirt.

The Collingswood Krispy Kreme has a drive through and Pastor Mark Finn, United Church of Chrsit, arrived Monday morning at 9:15AM to be first in line. He plans to use some of his doughnuts to feed his flock, as well as share it with the homeless.

Many people from surrounding towns waited in line, and became friends for the future. I love how every got into the spirit and wore the hats. When I arrived many people were playing Frisbee, or having a football catch in the parking lot. I know you want to know, the bathroom could be found across the street at the gas station.

Sagar Desai, Michael Berlco, Chandri Descia, Elisa Daga, Ben Tice, Dave and Steve Bell and Adam Rosy, hung out together even though only Michael was going to get the doughnuts as his car was 6th in line. The first person in line, Gary Romblad, Haddon Township, NJ, arrived Sunday night at 9PM with his step-son, Greg Myers, to receive a dozen doughnuts for a year. He plans to share them with friends and family, as well as donate some to the homeless. The Krispy Kreme store is owned by Philadelphia cousin and business partners, Keith Morgan and Brian Zaslow, who also own the Krispy Kreme doughnut store in Fox Chase and Center City, and are planning to open one in Bensalem, PA in November.

Brooks Kinch in maroon, with girlfriend Lacey Bouchard. Brooks had them before, but Lacey was anticipating them as Brooks brags how delicious they are.

The first 100 customers through the door receive a free Krispy Kreme T-shirt.

The Krispy Kreme Collingswood shop will have drive-thru access for doughnut fans on the go, and

feature a lounge area with a large flat screen TV and FREE Wi-Fi for customers who wish to stay and enjoy their sweet treats.

Michael Berlco and his friends celebrate with doughnuts and t-shirts

Inside Sam Ottenberg, James Bron, Nicolina Ranieri and Rachel Cipolla are excited to have a Krispy Kreme down the street from their Haddonfield homes.

Lawnside Police in the house!Collingswood Borough Commissioners Joan Leonard and Mike Hall and Mayor James Maley were on-hand at the ceremony, with Maley cutting the ribbon. “I’m proud to say we’re making doughnut history in the state,” said Maley of Collingswood Krispy Kreme being the first location to open in New Jersey. Maley went on to say “And now we have a doughnut shop on the East and West ends of Collingswood, so it’s like we have two additional police substations,” Maley joked. “So (the opening of Krispy Kreme) will do wonders for public safety, I’m sure.”Krispy Kreme has a variety of fundraisers available. One way to raise money is to just sell the donuts. They offer doughnuts to non-profit groups at a reduced price, which are then resold for full retail price, or slightly higher. The M&M Fund which is part of the Alex’s Lemonade family, benefited from today’s opening. Pictured above: Cindy Schechter, Sue Kilevine, and Pauline Schwarz

David Neff, Neff & Associates PR for Krispy Kreme, Cousins and business partners, Keith Morgan and Brian Zaslow flanked Collingswood Mayor James Maley. Morgan and Zaslow are looking to open a Bensalem, Pa Krispy Kreme in November so get your sleeping bags and snuggies ready.
