Jessica Boyington Gets A job, #BENDALL ON?, Sally Field Films in Philly

Hey Friyay is here and finally a spot of sunshine to get us through the weekend. Saturday is going to be something else in Philly, so much going on – The Italian Market Festival, The Rittenhouse Square Festival, The Stotesbury Regatta, Penn Graduation, the Joe Biden Rally on the Art Museum Steps. My advice, don’t drive, take public transportation – act like the Pope is here again.

Congrats to Jessica Boyington, who abruptly disappeared from the airwaves doing traffic for 4 years at NBC10 Philadelphia in early February. Today she popped up on 6ABC, not doing traffic but as a special features reporter. Today she talked about events happening this weekend. Jessica Philly missed you, we’re glad you’re back.

Are they , aren’t they. I’ve been quoted in the media on both sides. But according to the June edition of Vogue Australia, Kendall Jenner  Kendall Jenner chats about dating Ben Simmons, who hails from Australia. Kendall was spotted on video watching the Sixers playoff game at her friends house, cheering Ben Simmons on when he had the ball and made a basket. I saw the video and capture a blah screenshot, which is why it’s not on this post.

Posing for the magazine’s cover, Kendall hinted in the interview that she’d possibly like to get engaged to Ben ‘one day’.

The interview was done about a month ago, and since both of them are low profile peeps, we’ll just have to wait. Although I have seen video of her watching the last Sixer’s playoff game against Toronto. BUT I’m sure the rumor of her hanging out with ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, is just that, a rumor. I don’t think she’s his type anymore. I believe he’s going the way of George Michael, right now bi sexual, and at some point he’ll come out.

MET GALA: I’m not sure where the long time boyfriend of the foreign born closeted former A+ list boy bander was last night. That being said, our boy bander was having lots of fun with lots of different guys. It’s gonna be a beautiful weekend. Let’s go check out Open Houses with Allan Domb.
Jason Segal – IMDB Photo

‘Dispatches From Elsewhere’: Richard E. Grant, Sally Field & Eve Lindley To Star In Jason Segel’s AMC Anthology Series is schedule to film in Philly this summer, through November. Jason Segal, who is also starring in the TV series, is also producing and has been spotted around town this week. Wednesday night around midnight, he was spotted at Franklin Fountain in Old City. My friend tells me people recognized him, and he was very friendly. When he left he “High Fived” everyone. Last night he was spotted eating at a.kitchen across from Rittenhouse Square, outside where he posed for fans, before strolling along 18th towards Chestnut Streets about 8PM where another reader recognized him and chatted a bit about Philly hot spots, and AllBirds shoes. Don’t expect to see Sally Field, Richard Grant or Eve Lindley until after July 4th, when filming is scheduled to begin. For casting information head on over to Heery-Loftus Casting, who does the majority of casting for films that come to Philly. (Deadline)

Presidential candidate Cory Booker was in town for a fundraiser at Maison 208 last night, where Micah Mahjoubian snagged a photo with him.

Have a great weekend…..wear your hat and sunblock.

Election Day and The Best Dressed Election Night Party Ever

Crazy busy past couple days.

Yesterday was election day, and I decided at the last minute to go check out 4th Street Deli, where for years it was traditional for politicians, those in office and those running for office, would break bread at noon. I had gone in the past and everyone went, this year it seemed to be more of the new guard, and the traditionalists.

I knew Allan Domb was going and to me he was a candidate I really wanted to win. I’ve known him for about a decade, much better in the past year or so, but I’ve always really liked him. I know a little bit about his story, rags to riches, and that doesn’t happen over night. It happens with a lot of hard work. A guy who’s known him a lot longer than I, is Mark Howard, former newsman from 6ABC. Seems he and Allan were once roommates in earlier years. Who’s writing that book?

David Cohen and George Norcross chatting
Although Kenney never showed, his big head did. Seems Kenney and the new/old guard headed to Relish, which was his fav spot during the primaries too. Some grumbled that this might be the last of the big time gatherings as it represents the old style of politics. I kinda like traditions, if you really wanted to get rid of some relics from the past how about that Rizzo statue at the MSB building, Anywho…

if this is the old guard politicians, I don’t want this tradition to end.

That night I headed to Allan Domb’s Election Night Party, don’t call it Victory Party cause even during this “speech”, Allan wasn’t taking a chance to declare victory, although it was nearing 10PM.

The man who is the silent investor in Starr restaurants, held his party at the former Star Group’s headquarters, a building Allan Domb owns. You can rent the 18, 000 sq foot office yourself for $45,000 a month.

Election Night May 2015 – The Parties, and the People

Last night I decided to check out a few of the people I supported this election and see who else was on the team.

First stop was Allan Domb’s Victory Party, which was held at Smith & Wollensky, or as I like to call it, Stephen Starr’s next restaurant. (PS Domb is partner’s with Starr in all his business’)
I ran into Eric Kassoway and Arielle Kevstein.
Nicole Faux, Team – Allan Domb, Darwin Beauvais, Zarwin Baum, Carol Tamburino
Masako Featherman, John Featherman and Diane Lucidi
Lauren Colabelli, John Colabelli, Philly Style Mag Publisher and Carol Tamburino
Guests, Nina Tinari and Michael Schulson
The man of the hour, Allan Domb walks in. And I needed to head out.
To the Kenney party at Vie. I had no idea when I arrived at 9:15PM that they would already call the election. I heard Kenney was going to take the podium at 10PM so I had a few moments to capture the room.
You know these two are going to be BUSY in the next 18 months:  Angela Val Deputy Executive Director at Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention and Kevin Washo, ‎Executive Director at Pennsylvania Democratic Party
Sheila Hess, IBX was so excited when it was announced Kenney had won, that she burst out in tears.
Lou Galdo, ‎President at Galdo Catering and Entertainment, Emilio Matticoli, Chief of Staff for Foundations and Mark Rago, Philadelphia Funeral Director
Nellie Fitzpatrick, Director, Office of LGBT Affairs at City of Philadelphia Government, Fran Price and
 Beth Miskovsky and Mike Penna

Heading out to greet the crowd Kenney descends the stage

 Kenny Meets the Press
I then head over to the Belgium Cafe, a few blocks away, to see how Helen Gym is doing.
Her team is stressing out over the close race
Hillary Linardopoulos, of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, Helen Gym, former Notebook editor and a co-founder of Parents United for Public Education (and now City Council Member) and Jerry Jordan, President of Philadelphia Federation of Teachers
Husband Brett Flaherty and friend Chuck Goodwin, are confident in the win. PS I worked with Brett and Chuck in my former life as a paralegal, at Kohn Swift; they used to loan me out to Berger Montague to work on cases where these two attorney’s worked.
Word came that Helen was in the lead,
a few news outlets were calling for her win.
 She was optomistic and grateful,
but didn’t want to own the victory until all the precincts had come through.

Inside the Belgium Cafe her supporters wait for the returns.
I left shortly after midnight as Helen addressed her supporters and told them, until the last 3 precincts are counted, I’m not going to declare victory. This morning, Helen Gym is a council person. Congrats!!

Snow Day Rittenhouse Square – Plus Views from a Apartments on the Snowy Square

Tuesday was Philadelphia’s first snow day. As an added bonus the Christmas tree’s around town were still up so I headed out the door to capture a few of my favorite sites.

These two lovely people were visiting from Australia. They were spending 3 days in Philly, then were headed for 3 additional days in NYC for sightseeing.
Then I headed for Rittenhouse Square. Every time it snows I hit up the square, it’s definitely one of my favorite spots. This year the tree was the talk of the town. It wasn’t quite the same robust tree as it had been in year’s gone by.
But it was still as pretty, and the residents still shared their love with the tree adorning it with homemade ornaments, and tinsel. The tree was in all it’s glory yesterday when I took these shots. I think it was one of the prettiest trees ever.

I called Arielle at Allan Domb Real Estate (he advertises with me)  and asked if they had any apartments on the Square, cause who doesn’t want to see the Square from above.  I do. First we went over to the Wellington.

I checked out another apartment, it was facing north and had this fabulous view.

with an amazing view of the square looking Northwest.
I love the parquet floors and spacious rooms. It captured the old world charm that I imagined apartments on the Square would have.

OK this is exactly the kind of photo I imagine of always taking of the square at dusk, on a snowy day with the holiday lights a glow. #BucketList
