Happy Hump Day. As we approach Valentine’s Day, know it’s not just about couples; It’s about love. Love for ourselves, our community and each other. I love this stoop in Society Hill. I love when I go to the doctors office, like today, and they have cutout hearts on the window. I love heart shaped brooches, heart shaped candy boxes, and cute little Valentine cards kids give to their friends. When I was a kid, and right into my adulthood, my mom always sent my brother and sisters a card and a box of candy. So when stores start displaying those heart shaped candy boxes in October, my heart leaps a bit. Have an awesome day, but let’s see what’s happening around town.

FREE ROMANTIC CONCERT: Saturday NOON Broad & Spruce
Sweetheart Serenade—a free concert of love songs from Arthaus on the Avenue of the Arts. Sweetheart Serenade features a duet of University of the Arts singers performing the songs of Frank Sinatra, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and Hency Mancini from a pop-up stage on the 7th floor of the luxury condominium construction site. Then we’ll head upstairs to check out a finished sample apartment with a breathtaking view of the Avenue of the Arts.

Shaking Seafoods is opening in the former spot of Thai Koji Sushi which closed last year. Shaking Seafoods also has a spot at 243 S. 10th Street. Besides the regular seafood fare the popular eatery serves chicken wings as well.

Joel Embiid Has Insomnia; Mika & Joe In town; Judy Parker Passes

L’Shana Tova to my Jewish Friends. Happy Thursday to all. Still in the throes of the busy Philly Social Season, and I’m really enjoying this weather. Hope you get our and enjoy it. Joel Embiid seems to be everywhere lately but the basketball court. My friend Dr. Thanuja Hamilton had just left a Patrice Banks book signing -#sheCANic Girls Auto Clinic Repair Center at Phila Library and decided to stop by Insomnia Cookies near Chestnut St and started chatting with Joel telling him she knew him from somewhere. He then told her he was a tennis player, he gave her the name, and left with the parting words “Trust The Process”. Then it clicked she said. BTW Patrice Banks will be on Good Morning America Friday morning. Embiid
I noticed Hats In The Belfry has opened a up next to men’s shoe store ToBox in the 1800 block of Chestnut (remember a few years back I told you this corridor would become the Fashion District of Philly, after Joan Shepp moved nearby. It definitely is. Embiid
Sad to hear my friends Lisa Gaudio’s step mother songwriter Judy Parker Gaudio passed away last week, on her 79th birthday. I met Judy a few times at events Lisa hosted including her daughter’s wedding where I took this shot. Bob Gaudio as you know is the original “Jersey Boy” having written and sung many of the famed groups songs including a few with Judy her most well-known songs “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” and “Who Loves You,” which were recorded by ‪Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski was in town yesterday speaking and shilling her book “Know Your Value” at IBX. Tagging a long was her morning co-host on “Mornings with Joe” Joe Scarborough. They posed for a photo with NBC10’s Tracy Davidson, who will be honored Sunday at the “Minding Your Minds” Blue Jean Gala at Temple Beth Hillel in Wynnewood http://mindingyourmind.org/event/10th-anniversary-blue-gene-gala/ I’ll be there so bring your smile.
