Sora Pool Club Celebrates Summer

Today is almost like a reset for summer, it’s a cloudy, dreary day in the middle of the summer, a perfect day to celebrate the summer pool party I photographed a few weeks ago at the Sora Pool Club at Presidential City . The Post Brothers Presidential City apartment complex has always been one of my favorites. It’s in the City, not in congested Center City, but on the edge of Fairmount Park and MLK drive and 76, for quick access downtown. PLUS it’s the complex is in a park like setting, probably good bird watching too, A sprawling property resort, with a magnificent gym, spa, three distinct pools: a 75-foot lap pool for swimming, a central lounge pool that features both partly immersed lounge chairs and a dry seating enclosure, and a kid-friendly wading pool. There are also dog exercise tracks, a Zen garden, cabanas, poolside chaise lounges with complimentary towel service, several lounge seating areas, two hot tubs and two outdoor kitchens, each with four grilling stations.

This year, is a special year we’re all experiencing together. I’ve covered the Sora Summer Pool Party before but this year was extra special, some of the people I met were experiencing their first time out, socializing in a year. Nearly every event I’ve been to I’ve noticed the joy!!

I’ve also noticed people wearing bright colors, which is a dream come true for me. If you’re a long time reader, you know I’ve been asking folks to bring the color, and after a year like 2020 people are ready to live in color!!

The Post Brothers were really visionaries in their developments, with creating a fun, resort, atmosphere targeting a younger audience with community rooms, game rooms, and everyone one of their properties has a magnificent pool, most with multiple pools like this one, the one at the Piazza, and their new spot The Popular, which is a salt water pool as well.

This years theme for the Sora Summer party was “Hang Ten”, as in chillax here at Sora pool, it’s a relaxing vibe, says Kate Marlys, Philly Pr Girl, and the Post Brothers PR told me as she gave me a tour around the property.

Presidential City is accepting new residents, here’s where to go to get some INFO It’s not supposed to rain today, and with temps in the 70s, it’s definitely a good day for a walk around the block. See you tomorrow here!! Thanks so much for subscribing to PhillyChitChat, I see since June 1st we’ve gotten another 1,000 subscribers. I really appreciate you!!

The Piazza Pod Park Opens

Last night I attended a most unusual beer garden type of outdoor space, a wonderland of food and beer I would call it. Definitely not like any you’ve experienced before, it’s in Northern Liberties in the former space where we all used to park for free across from the Piazza. The official opening of the Piazza Pod Park as the grand opening weekend will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10AM (POD PARK WEBSITE)

Now it’s a fun spot where you’ll want to spend a lazy afternoon or a starry night with friends. There is still free parking with validation of your Pod Park visit. The parking lot is at the corner of 2nd and Germantown Ave, on Germantown avenue.

Piazza Pod Park will be far be the largest dining destination and beer garden-style space in the city to open this spring – with 35,000 square feet of outdoor space that is uniquely Northern Liberties, featuring dining, art, civic space, kids and fitness components, as well as regular entertainment and events.

Ziggy Loike and Sam Cohen are working on Tomato’s Bar at 11th and Walnut Streets. Look for an end of summer opening.
The dining hall has tables inside and on the roof of the container

There’s a walkway that connects the Pod Park to Girard Avenue, at night it’s a colorful connector and a great Selfie station.

The Post Brothers hosted a cocktail party to toast Philippe Maidenberg, the Paris-based architect, interior designer and furnishing designer who just completed his first project in the United States at The Adams Building within historic Presidential City. Presidential City, one of Philadelphia’s most prestigious 20th century landmarks, epitomizes the vision of crafting a world-class living experience. Creatively reimagined to accommodate the lifestyles of urban-paced commuters and community-minded residents, the high-rise complex invites an identity of cosmopolitan sophistication and stately elegance. With fully renovated features, the residences maintain a Golden era prominence enhanced by contemporary comforts and modern amenities.

According to Hospitality Design Magazine: Maidenberg ‘s favorite architect is Frank Gehry because he “I’ve followed him since the ’80s. He has changed the way of creating. There is great documentary by Sydney Pollack called Sketches of Frank Gehry. A genius films another genius. You can see Gehry creating a building with pieces of carton and scissors like a very clever and sensitive kid would do. Then, the process gets more complicated.” (source)

Sora Pool Soars; it’s the Cherry on the Top of The Presidential Apts

Sora Pool Soars: Last Fall I headed to Presidential Apts to shoot the newly renovated buildings ready for tenants. The apartment complex, located on City Ave, and a stones throw from Fairmount Park, has undergone a $100 million dollar renovation and created an amazing resort to live at, so close to Center City (4 miles).

Sora Pool

The developers of Presidential Apartments are The Post Brothers – Mike Pestronk and Matthew Pestronk , president and co-founder of Post Brothers Apartments.

They are the guys behind Center City’s Goldtex Building at 315 N 12th St . The one I dubbed a few years ago as the apartments with the best view of Center City, and that still holds true. Plus it has a really great rooftop deck with a wading pool and a spectacular gym. Now it’s near the proposed Rail Yard ie Philly’s Highline, which by the way will be having their one year anniversary party at Brick & Mortar, which is located on the ground floor of the Goldtex, on June 9th. (Tickets)

If living downtown is your top priority, but also living like your on vacation everyday, then move to the Presidential. (If you want to buy and live that way move to Waterfront Square)

At the time of my last visit, they only had the plans for the Sora Pool area posted. I think they lived up to the drawings, and more.

 Sora Pool

Sora Pool Features three temperature-controlled pools, waterside cabanas, and a rooftop lounge, the pool club offers residents year-round resort-like access.
