STORY BOOK BALL AT PLEASE TOUCH MUSEUM 2010

The spring gala has become an annual social fixture for the under 10 crowd here in Philadelphia as children (and grown-ups!) to dress as their favorite storybook character, enjoy some fine dining, ride their famous carousel, and dance the night away at the annual Please Touch Storybook Ball. This year’s Storybook Ball took place on Saturday, April 24th, from 6pm to 9pm. The theme? Pirates and Princesses. Carousel rides and dining aside, other highlights include a performance by the GESU School Ballroom Dancers, read-alouds in the Story Castle, and costumed storybook characters around the museum.

I brought my niece and nephew Kelsey & Dillon again this year, although, sadly, they were probably the oldest kids in attendance. Next year it’s Ella & Timmy’s turn, they are my other sister’s kids who are about 7 and 5.
Cupcakes are all the rage this year and besides the chicken fingers, pizza, ice cream donated by Jack & Jill there was more than 1,000 donated no-nuts (and some gluten-free) cupcakes by Nikki Rayfield. Yum.

The theme this year? Pirates and Princesses. Pictured above is the Elgamal family with dad Sharief and daughters Selma and Sarah dressed for the occasion.
I love this room

Doug Kammerer Celebrates 53 Years at Roosevelt Pub

Thanks everyone for bearing with me as I try and find a balance between my Philly Mag column and Philly Chit Chat. Currently I realize I am about a solid week behind in writing events that happened as I will always put the pixs on the Philly Mag blog first with the bulk of the interesting stories, but that’s only going to be 3 pixs at a time. Here on PCC you will always get at least 7 shots, and a different story where possible.

A few days ago I wrote on my Philly Mag Column about attending Doug Kammerer’s birthday party. I was so excited to share in his evening and capture a few moments.
Nicole Brewer
Jen Groove, Kaci Mintz and Lindsay Kravitz
CBS3’s high-energy traffic reporter Bob Kelly. He always makes traffic interesting with his quirky terms like”you must turn around Lavern” or rockety roll. Today he reminds us that it’s National School Nurse Day, so thank your school nurse. (On a different note, Mayor Nutter recommends we all wear orange and black today in support of the Flyers.)
Doug comes in to the delight of his guests
Owner of Roosevelt’s Pub at 23 and Walnut, Ellis Walding tells me that Doug’s a good friend and comes in often to hang out and play cards. Hey I like to play cards, maybe I’ll come by one day.
Mr and Mrs Kellen Economy, with Jenn and Jimmy Connor
Jessica Scott, Doug and Jamie Reibenbach. Jamie recently left Mission Grill and is starting a career in Real Estate, we wish her well. Here comes trouble…
Bill Becker, Brett Rosenbloom, Justin Wineburg and Michael Pomeretze

Randal, GM at Sampan, Julio Galvez and one of the nicest guys around Drew Milstein.
Erin Como, with a guy she dated when she was 14 and then reconnected years later, Danny Schuyler, who says never get a tattoo on your neck as it hurts like hell with Lewis Ratti and his wife Leah Como
Denise Nakano joined NBC 10 News on July 28, 2003, as weekend anchor; then in Oct 2006 she began anchoring for myphl17 news at ten powered by NBC 10. She continues to report on NBC 10 News; hanging with Doug. Doug wins he’s in the most pictures tonight, it is his birthday afterall.
Justin Pizzi and former girlfriend of 3 dates Erin Como. They’re now BFF’s
Rose Miller, John Libonati, Zac Lowe, Gina Priest and Dave Yost
Roosevelt’s was packed with lots of well wishers for Doug.
Happy Birthday Doug, with wife Holly Roehl Kammerer who planned and executed the whole shindig, and did a great job.. One of my favorite pictures. The cake says 53, but in reality Doug is 35 and someone was dyslexic or just funny.

LISA GAUDIO AND JIMMY KAZANJIAN WEDDING AT THE RADNOR HUNT CLUB

A horseshoe is said to bring good luck. Many believe that to hang it with the ends pointing upwards is good luck as it acts as a storage container of sorts for any good luck that happens to be floating by, whereas to hang it with the ends pointing down, is bad luck as all the good luck will fall out. These were are wedding favors, and they were heavy.

Monday’s Philly Magazine column was also about Lisa & Jimmy’s wedding, there’s lots of stories and fun picture’s there too, but the following pixs didn’t make the column, but I love them too.

“I DO”
The ceremony and reception took place at Radnor Hunt (an upscale equestrian club) on Saturday, May 8 at 5:30 p.m. Gaudio who found her dream Lazzaro gown at Kleinfeld in N.Y.C. where owner, Ronnie Rothstein, a long time Four Season fan explained what a treat it was to help the daughter of the legendary group. Gaudio wore off white cowboy boots, while her horse of 24 years, Choices, stood by her. Katherine James (Los Angeles) designed the engagement ring, necklace, earrings and wedding bands. The bridesmaids wore cowboy boots to match their dresses as well.
World-famous and award winning Broadway show Jersey Boys has made headlines for years but on Saturday, May 8th the daughter of Four Seasons original member, Bob Gaudio; Lisa Gaudio was the Jersey Girl in the spotlight. Gaudio walked down the aisle and married her fiancé, Jimmy Kazanjian twenty six years after their first engagement. After their initial engagement and first wedding was canceled in 1982; four children, 3 dogs and 1 horse later Gaudio and Kazanjian are finally husband and wife.

Kazanjian, who grew up in Havertown, PA and Gaudio who spent time both on the East and West Coasts growing up met while Gaudio was still in high school. They were engaged in 1982 when the bride was working in Ardmore, PA and the groom was running his fathers company. After purchasing their first home they decided to part ways a few months later even though both always held a special place in each others’ hearts.
Gaudio moved to the West Coast and after she found herself divorced years later she was persuaded to call and check in on Kazanjian after she had a re-occurring dream which lasted over a year. During one visit on the East coast, she finally picked up the phone which resulted in their lives being changed forever and almost twenty six years to the day later of their first planned wedding the two finally were able to be called husband and wife. Lisa’s horse “Choices”.

It was an incredibly beautiful day, with sustaining wind you would only see in a storm, but that didn’t take away from the romantic story that was unfolding in front of us.

Our table cards came in little horseshoes. Now I have to go look for 5 more for a set.
Loved ones to pray for. Lisa was very supportive when my sister passed away in December.
This is one my favorite picture of the night with flower girls Zoe and Lola Guadio (Her brother Shannon’s girls)

Renee Marino and Jarrod Spector. They were my table mates. They drove down to the wedding, checked in to the Radnor Hotel, came right over to the wedding, slept there and went right back to NYC as Jarrod, who is playing Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys on Broadway.

Brianna and James give toasts to their parentsBrianna D’Amico
James Kazanjian

The wedding was by candle light, but not on purpose as the electric wires were downed by trees.

Olivia Polci sang two songs to the newlyweds, Norah Jones “I Don’t Know Why” and an amazing rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock & Roll”Olivia Polci has a huge career ahead of her

Dario Polci, Jimmy Kazanjian, Lisa Gaudio Kazanjian, Frankie Valli, Michelle Fleury, Toni Valli look on as Olivia Polci sings Nora Jones’ “Don’t Know Why” and Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll.”
Been a long time since I rock and rolled

Lisa and her dad Bob Gaudio

Lisa and her Step-Dad, Rick Pincus. Lisa tells me” we danced to my mothers favorite song “You are so beautiful ” by joe cocker . she died when i was 24 and she and my stepfather introduced me to jimmy …..really my mother persuaded me to go out with him “she loved him so ” so this wedding had deeper roots than anyone can imagine”

Steve Thorne, Sabrina Tamburino Thorne, Lauren O’Dorisio, Philadelphia Style Publisher John Colabelli, Carol Tamburino, and Chuck Peruto Jr.

Fox 29’s Jen Frederick tool this shot of Carrie Brescia and me.
Yumm the cake: Lisa and Jimmy do the honors with just a tad cake in the face ending. Congratulations you two. Thanks for allowing me to photograph your fairytale wedding.

PS Thanks to my neighbor Judy Kassar who lent me her car when I had a flat on Saturday and needed to get to the wedding and then a party at 11PM back in the City.

My favorite Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons song:

SECOND TIME AROUND – NYC Housewife Alex McCord Stops By

OK I know I am lame today as I worked so hard on my Philly Mag column for today I didn’t have time to properly write this one out yet, but I will.

A few weeks ago I attended the opening of Second Time Around, which is a chain consignment shop. The reason it took so long to write was Alex had told me that she would be back for the Rittenhouse Row Festival for a signing so I held this article back as I was going to mention it in my Philly Mag column. For some unknown reason she didn’t come, but she was at this event.Paula Moritz, from Allied Advertising. You have to get on their FB page, where they offer free preview movie tickets.
Alexandria B on Yelp says: One of the best consignment stores I have been in.
Everything is laid out and presented quite nicely, unlike your regular thrift store with jam packed racks and tables that get a person like me frustrated with my ADHD. I honestly can’t stand to dig and frankly dont care enough to. So thank you Second Time Around.
I purchased a great yellow quilted spring jacket from there that I wear all the time, kind of Ralph Lauren looking.

WHERE IS DARK FIELDS ROBERT DE NIRO BRADLEY COOPER FILMING TODAY IN PHILADELPHIA

Follow me on Twitter @iPhillyChitChat to read updates on filming and other events, news in Philly

Yesterday Robert DeNiro and Bradley Cooper filmed at 16th & Market Streets changing it into 48th & Lexington Streets in Manhattan. I keep reading how people are mad about this, but what they need to understand is if we didn’t have the Film Tax Credits they would have filmed this movie in NYC.
I have a new computer and no photoshop yet, but if you look closely I did an arrow pointing to De Niro and Cooper on the set of Dark Fields Thursday
I did a nice write up over on PhillyMag.com but since I did it very quickly and wasn’t at home I didn’t have the tools to clean up the pictures. This shot didn’t make it into that column, but it’s one of the better one of the two.
After shooting Bradley sat in his chair. I love how everyone including the cop is texting – LOL
A Philebrity with her trademark hair do, I was in a hurry and couldn’t wait for her to move to get a better shot, but you know who it is right?
A few extras. Then it was off to Paradigm in Old City to shoot the next scenes. My friend Jill knows the owners of the restaurant and was invited to watch them film a few scenes. Later she snagged this shot of Bradley Cooper outside. If I’m not mistaken that is the back of Christ Church on the left.
Jill tells me: no anna friel… there was a young women named Rebecca (don’t know last name) who was shooting opposite. she was sweet and i think is an unknown?
she introduced herself to me. she got to kiss him over and over and over!!! what a great days work. he is SO cool Hugh. he seems almost shy and modest. i loved his humility. also, in the scene we saw, he spoke fluent french!!!
smart AND cute. gotta ♥ it!
***** Check out my PhillyMag column on the shoot HERE:
Today (Friday) filming is on South Broad Street and City Hall intersection. Seriously dudes can’t you work on Saturdays? This is gonna tie up traffic like no one’s business.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLLIN FLATT

Happy Birthday Phoodie Collin. Last week Collin Flatt invited me to his birthday party. Even though I was previously booked I immediately pushed my schedule back to accommodate his celebration. First I am a huge fan of his work, plus he’s a genius, his sees things in ways I would never and he’s intellect. (who dresses me, why didn’t I button that collar? I think I have a pointed head, wait this blog is about Collin Flatt…) I am glad to be part of the blogger community, a community that writes about their passion and in the process has changed how you folks get your news.

I knew there would be a lot of bloggers there and well I never really get to socialize with these folks that I admire so much as I keep myself fairly busy.
I was so excited to meet some of the peeps I am a fan of: Felicia D’Ambrosio (I’ve said it before I recommend the entire site at City Paper it’s one of the best sites, and is constantly updated), Danya Henninger (Philly Design Blog)
Kelly White (Living on the Vedge) and her fiance whose name I would know if I could find my notebook which you all know I had since I wrote about Collin’s bday in my PhillyMag column yesterday. I’m a mess. Next week I will do better.
Collin used to write Phoodie for Philebrity but left in January to pursue other interests, including teaching a class on wine at Penn, continuing to teach wine classes at the Wine School in Fairmount, and being the man in charge of picking out all the fine beers you consume at Ladder 15.
Ladder 15: This space is gorgeous. The ceiling is high (two floors), there is a balcony that runs alongside one wall, the walls have great rock-and-wireframe accents, and there’s a wall-sized fireplace/log thing going that will look way cool in the winter, I’m sure. The waitresses were very attractive and the space was plenty roomy. Based on the amount of room between tables, it seemed like the floor space was designed to be cleared out later at night to allow more mingling. Chairs for the tables were backless wooden curved surfaces that were fairly tall but surprisingly comfortable.
Arthur Etchells (FooBooz) (I really appreciate all the blogs that have ever carried an article from my blog (or have read me). It really helped me a lot in achieving my goals. I don’t usually get a chance to review everyone’s blog often, I’m not good with incorporating other peoples sites on mine unless I have a photo of them, but I do try and retweet those that have been good to me, and those that are very interesting, as much as possible. So even though this is about Collin’s bday party, I just want to say thanks, I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me, and for Philly)

Mike Ilagan (Unbreaded, Geekadelphia and Uwishunu) and Allie Harcharek (City Paper and A Food Coma)
Bone Marrow served at Ladder 15
I purposely didn’t tag the pixs so you can have an unvarnished picture for your FB page. Make sure you say you were at Collin Flatt’s bday party. If I don’t have your name written down, please give it to me so I may add it. thanks
It’s 2am I must go to bed now. Next week I am going to start earlier and get to the gym.
John Hobbs, Casey Hughes (head brewer at Flying Fish), April Reynolds, Collin Flatt, Kristin Moore, and Stephen Lyford.
Happy Birthday Collin Flatts
